My friends and I spent an entire evening searching the city for somewhere we could go that was comfortable and close to everyone. We had quite a bit of trouble finding a bar that fit all of our needs, so stumbling across Patty’s was nothing short of a miracle. The wings were fantastic! The service was great! The staff were welcoming, and able to accommodate our group. The beer was especially good. I have already recommended Patty’s to several of my friends!

My family and I are Patty’s Pub regulars. It’s the quintessential neighbourhood pub — most nights you can pop in for a pint and run into neighbours and friends. We love the super friendly owners, the atmosphere, food, and especially their own ABC beers. Make sure to grab a seat by the fire!

I like this place. It’s got a warm feeling, wood swivel chairs along the bar, and quaint furniture on the sit down side. ½ price wing night(twice a week) is what usually draws me in, along with Kilkenney cream ale on draft — my ideal«wing beer». The wings are pretty good — the price is just a bonus. Generally service is great here, unless you get the server who in recent visits has seemed more pleasant. But in the past, definitely routinely distant and disinterested, They have Ashton’s/ABC on tap, which is good if you like local/fresh beer. I don’t recall ordering food here, but friends who have had all said that it was pretty decent i.e. burger, fish n chips. Bonus: there’s a lot of seating here, and the atmosphere is nice. Also, there’s a fireplace up front, and a big patio in the summer.

If I could get a degree in drinking from this place. I’d have it in the 14 years I’ve been coming here. Also the local watering hole to all the students that live on residence at nearby Carleton University! What keeps suckering me into it now is the half-price wing-night Mon-Wed(or is it Mon-Tues?). Classic Irish bar with a great beer selection and traditional Irish pub food. The food isn’t gourmet but you’re not really here for that. Tip for wing-night — you have to tell the waiter/waitress if you want them saucy. otherwise there’s just enough sauce on them to cover the wings… I like them medium-honey with the two sauces mixed together for a multiculturally flavoured wing…

Been coming here on and off for a few years… since I keep going back it must be an A OK place. My teammates and I go every Monday during volleyball season in the Summer(which has just come to an end) — they support our team by providing a discount on our team’s purchases so that we can hopefully have a team dinner for next to free(we spend a pretty good amount over the Summer). The servers there are a charm… friendly and since they have gotten to know us. sometimes sarcastic(in a good way!). Good beer selection, wings always good as are most of the menu items. As I had mentioned we go Monday night’s … Monday nighs is Burger specials nights… great burgers if you are in early enough, howeve they do tend to run out if you are any later than 8:00PM — too bad they don’t stock up a few more. The outside patio is a good spot to sit and chat… great little neighbourhood that«old Ottawa south». I will be back. thanks for the good times this Summer. Cheers! :-)

I’ve heard alot of good things about this place from many people over the years. We stopped in for dinner a couple of weeks on our way to an event, and were rather pleased with the food and service from the waitress. It was nice to see them serving more local brews on tap and not just serving 20 different forms of the same drink. Not something we’ll go out of our way for, but still a nice place to stop for a meal when in the area

Absolutely delicious. We had the kimchee fries and the nut burger. Along with a couple craft beers. The blueberry one was tasty. A little dark inside the restaurant. Service was also very good. Definitely will return.

Great authentic pub with tones of character. Awesome food that is created from scratch and not frozen. The beer selection is perfect too. Definitely recommend trying a pint of the Ashton Brewing Company.

I am not a huge fan of pubs but I really enjoy Patty’s Pub. I love the ambience in the place, the old-rustic feel. I also really appreciate that the tables are further away from other guests so you don’t feel like your having dinner with strangers, like many other restaurants or pubs. The fire place is a really nice addition, it makes the spot feel really cozy. Servers here have always been really sweet. Service is quick and servers are knowledge. As a vegetarian, the burgers here are one of the BEST veggie burgers I have had. As well, prices here are quite reasonable. I enjoy going here and would visit again and would recommend it to a friend.

Patty’s has a real pub feeling; it is not a cookie-cutter Irish pub. The pub feels like it has been around for ages – and it has a fireplace which I just love! Not to mention, part of the décor include some old books, which is pretty awesome. This is the kind of place you can stop in for a quick pint or enjoy an evening with friends. The drink selection is good. The food is typical of a pub and so I ordered the wings. They were delectable with hearty amounts of meat on the bones and sauces that were quite literally finger-licking good.

outstanding burgers and fries, great atmosphere, very old school pub feel, worn floorboards etc. — definite returning for more of the same.

Visited this place yesterday and I have to say it is a true authentic Irish pub. The selections of beers is great and they have their own Ashton Brewery, along with a great selection of local and international beers. I am not a beer drinker but the two pros I had along found a few varieties they enjoyed. On the food side I had the fish and chips and the smoked salmon served with potato pancakes(can’t remember the name of said pancakes… but I highly recommend them), it was nice to see that they have adjusted the menu to make it possible to have something other than pub food. We went early on the 2nd for lunch so it was quiet, but I am certain that this place gets jumpin. I was with a local, and he confirmed that this place is well known by both visitors and locals, when I mentioned where I was to my sister she confirmed she had been there over 20 years ago, but it appears that this one is a newer location since 91. We really appreciated the outing and our waitress was warm, helpful and made us feel like regulars. Try it out when your in Ottawa, I know I will be adding this place to the list… added bonus the owner looks like Santa, who wouldn’t like having a beer with Santa.

Really late in reviewing this place but we came by here in the summer after a volleyball game to grab a few pints. We were seated outside and our server came to take our drink order and dropped off some menus. My summarized experience: Pros — N/A Cons — 25 – 30 minutes to get pints. — Absentee waitress. — Food order took 45 minutes, isn’t bad since they had to cook the food and not pour it out of a keg :) — Food is typical pub fare, nothing spectacular. We had wings, nachos, salads and a few other sharing items at our table. Seriously it took 45 minutes for the order. Ridiculous situation — Told by waitress to go inside to pay with my credit card. — She BARELY waited on us during our 2 hours! — Long bar lineup, when I got to front, the bartender sent me to other end of bar to pay. — Another long line, my absentee waitress comes in and she freaks out to bartender that I ran off without paying the bill… probably because I was inside for almost 10 minutes waiting. — The bartender pointed to me and she saw me at the other end of the bar. I smiled and knew right then I would never be back. The waitress that rang me through was nice enough to apologize but seriously, that was horrible service followed by being accused of dine and dash! Awesome. Highly recommend this place(well just that waitress) if you’re looking for that type of night!!!

Patty’s is a great place to grab a few pints and a couple pounds of wings(they have wing specials 3 nights a week). Can accommodate large groups. They’ve also got a wide selection of pub-fare that tends to be pretty good.

Patty’s is a great place to go during the week for cheap wings. I find their wings to be delicious and a fair price when it is wing night. This bar has an Irish feel to it with a general crowd of students or your typical Irish drinkers.

I like the interior and location. It’s got a great fireplace right near the entrance which makes it a great winter pub. No patio in the summer. Service is so/so as is the food. There’s pubs with better service and food in Ottawa.

There’s a plethora of Irish pubs in Ottawa, and while a lot of them are alike and dangerously close to becoming cookie clutter, Patty’s is not one of them. It’s plush, cozy interior, with dark wood walls and a fireplace adds to a homely atmosphere. The staff is friendly and helpful, and the food is decent. You can even find a few authentic Irish food like the boxty, an Irish dish made by wrapping a potato pancake around strips of beef, chicken or lamb. While I found its not the best place to watch a game, because the large TV’s are awkwardly placed, it’s a fun chilled place to go with friends.

If I’m at Patty’s Pub, it’s usually because a few minutes or hours ago, I felt in the mood for a good place to sit with friends and talk. But I think this pub would accommodate a wide variety of customers and groups. They have a decent variety of beer and a really great selection of food with choices you don’t often see in a typical pub menu. Of course, they have nachos, wings, burgers and sandwiches, but they also have some more authentic Irish selections, like boxtys. My favourite aspect of this pub is its look. The floors are laid with big thick planks of creaky wood, the shelves are covered with kitschy paraphernalia and some of the walls are randomly slathered with stones. Basically, it’s a down to earth establishment with a consistent assortment of customers and food.

A friend came into town from the old country and I wanted to take him to an Ottawa version of an authentic Irish pub. We walked down Bank Street for a while and instantly gravitated towards Patty’s Pub. It has the standard selection of beers you would expect a good pub to carry — Stella, Guinness, and that Canadian gem of a beer Creemore Springs. We found the staff friendly and helpful. The food was typical tasty(but not necessarily healthy) pub fare — delicious and reasonably priced. There are big screen televisions with sports. It has a great location just south of the Glebe area on Bank. You can’t miss it — the black paint, the big logo and the off-skew angle in which it is planted. And, it has PARKING in a neighbourhood where parking is not that easy to find. I saw the owner while I was there and although he didn’t look or sound particularly Irish, Patty’s has a nice comfy pub feeling. On a down note, my friend felt it wasn’t as authentic as he had hoped.
