The big problem I have with this restaurant is the price. A basic bare-bones 2 egg breakfast with bacon, ham or sausage and some potatoes cost me $ 13.50 + tip. The waiter was nice, but that’s probably because he knows how preposterous the prices are! Unfortunately I didn’t have a choice at the time but to eat there and that was the meal that I chose. I looked over the entire menu though and all the prices were ridiculous. I asked for a glass of water and it was luke-warm without any ice. Kinda gross… I would not return here and would recommend that guests staying at the Hotel Indigo(which I gave a 4-star excellent review for by-the-way) avoid eating there and go elsewhere. There are several places not to far from the hotel on Elgin Street… you’d be better off going there.

If I was comparing this to other restaurants, I’d be giving it two stars, but it’s a hotel restaurant, and as far as hotel restaurant goes, it’s pretty standard. The servers were really sweet, I’ll give them points for that. The best way I can describe Phi is 1999, up in here. The décor, the branding, the menu items, it’s all very dated, even though, I believe it’s newer. They do have locally sourced menu items, which, according to many Ottawans I’ve talked to, is a newer trend and one that I’m completely on board with. So, I ordered one of these«local» items — the turkey club. Yes, I did the weird thing I do, ordered it without bread. As usual, I asked for extra lettuce, but I think this fell on deaf ears. It came all laid out on a plate, which was fine. I just had to assemble my own lettuce-wich. Without the bread, things can look underwhelming, but $ 15, seemed a bit steep, even for local sourced items. And since it was all broken down, I could see what was going into it. The inventory: two pieces of sliced turkey, two tomato slices, two pieces of lettuce and two slices of bacon. Even if I include the«roasted apple» cup of soup — which did not live up to it’s tasty name — it still seemed overpriced. But like I said, I really didn’t expect much more from a hotel restaurant like this. You might be asking why didn’t I just go elsewhere, but the lateness of the night prevented me. Next time, I’ll just liquify my dinner. the lady sitting next to me was enjoying a very generous pour!
