Preston Shwarma

Truly disgusting! I made the mistake of entering this place on Jan 26^th at lunch time. I politely asked the man behind the counter if the gravy in their shawarma poutine had wheat flour in it, he responded as I had asked a very stupid question. I let is slide, figuring the man was having a bad day and ordered the shawarma plate. I used extra pleases and thank you’s in an attempt to change his mood. After about 10 mins of «cooking» the chicken shawarma, he started cutting the chicken off the spit. The back side of the chicken was translucent pink! COMPLETELY raw. I politely suggested that it was not cooked. He aggressively responded that I did not know anything and knew nothing about sharwma, at which point I told him that I can’t eat raw chicken and he says «don’t’ eat it» and I said fine and walked out. As I walked out he says to my back «FxCK OFF!» Many hours later I am still stunned after being respectful and polite, even when he tried to give me food poisoning, what a miserable human being. To the owner: fire him immediately and if you are the owner I hope you go out of business very soon! DO NOT EAT HERE. Next step, Ottawa public health.

Preston Shwarma is a solid shwarma joint. They feature all the standard qualities of a shwarma restaurant: large quantity, fresh ingredients, and rotisserie meat (chicken and/​or beef). The beef isn’t as good as other places, but that may just be me. Overall I very much like this place, though I would emphasize it is only on par with competing restaurants.

I live on Preston so, it made sense to eventually try out the local Shwarma place (i’m talking last year). Teglay (the owner) makes a divine Shwarma! We are now his regulars and he never fails to give us the same great taste, if not better, EVERY time. He greets us by name, knows our orders, asks about our parents! We have taken all our house guests there and they all rave about it after.
Should replace weekend pizza nights with Shwarma nights! :D

What a great place. I’ve driven by several times but never stopped — my loss! The usual choices of chicken or beef from the rotisserie. The sandwiches were stuffed fuller than I have had from other places. The staff seemed to know the regulars and the place has a friendly vibe.
