Royal Alexandra Interprovincial Bridge

Second lieu que je préfère à Ottawa, le Alexandra Bridge. Lieu chargé d’histoire et au point de vue exceptionnel sur la ville, ce point relie l’Ontario au Québec. En deux minutes, on change de provinces et on profite de l’aspect multiculturel du Canada. Grâce à ce pont, les deux rives né font vraiment qu’un.
Pont à poutres cantilever, il a d’abord servi au Chemin de fer. Terminé en 1901, il est aujourd’hui carrossable pour le passage des voitures, des vélos et des piétons.
La promenade offre plusieurs points de vue photo avec des espaces de repos et des explications sur les bâtiments visibles aux alentours, ainsi que l’histoire du point.

I didn’t even realize the name was so long, since we just call it the Alexandra Bridge, or even the Interprovincial Bridge. It was built over 100 years ago and is located just east of Parliament Hill, across the Ottawa River. It runs from St. Patrick Street in Ottawa, to Boulevard des Allumetières in Gatineau, Quebec. Around the bridge are parliament buildings, the National Art Gallery, Major’s Hill Park, the Canadian Museum of Civilization, and Jaques Cartier Park.
While vehicles can obviously cross the bridge, it’s also incredibly popular amongst pedestrians, joggers, cyclists, rollerbladers, and even skateboarders. Because Gatineau is so close that you can literally see it, many people will opt to just walk across the bridge, especially when the weather’s nice and during the Tulip Festival in May. It’s also well lit at night and when it gets dark, but there is usually construction happening, which makes it more than inconvenient during rush hour.
