Definitely not a place I would take a date, however, the food is terrific! My favorite kabob restaurant. Very tasty!

The good: — plenty of options in their menu — Sultani Kabob was great — good naan — clean and simple — very friendly owner The bad: — you order, pay and then wait for the food.

My favourite place to eat beef kabob. Quantity to price is very reasonable. Always great taste and great service.

Hubby and I have placed orders many times! I love the butter chicken. It comes with naan and honestly, you don’t even need a side with it. Just dip your bread in the sauce … mmmhh mmmh good! But, that’s just my preference. My better half always orders shamis. It’s not a fancy restaurant. You order at the counter and they will call you when your meal is ready. The staff is nice. The quality and quantity is good. So far, everything was great!

Stopped by here for the second time today and had a great meal. I ordered the beef tikka platter with naan and salad. I had a green tea while i waited and then took my meal down to Britannia bay to eat. They cook it fresh so it takes about 15 minutes. The restaurant is kept very clean and decorated with some nice old pictures of Afghanistan. The beef was really nicely marinated and the salad was fresh with lettuce cucumbers and tomatoes. No complaints here i would come back again for sure. Afghan food is an interesting taste experience as it uses a couple of different spices from the Indian food. Service was also very polite and efficient. No complaints here!

Ordered the kabobs on take out. Chapli, chicken, beef, shami and my personal favorite the lamb! The meat is cooked fresh and comes with salad and bread. My only critique is that for the price portions are small.

I have been to this kabob house twice now and ordered different dishes each time. As the name suggests you can order pretty much any kind of meat in kabob form. Each dish comes with its respective kabob with rice and naan bread on the side. They also offer quite a few sides that looks delicious. Over all the food quality is darn good, specially the meat. I generally don’t care much about side salads and what not. My main interest is the kabob, and the naan both of which I enjoyed thoroughly.

If you want your kebabs juicy, be sure to request«medium NOT well done». They don’t actually ask your preference when you order and all our kebabs were extremely well done and bone dry. The half chicken was also too dry, although the dark part was a bit juicier. Everything was well seasoned and I’ll certainly go back to see if I can manage to score BOTH tasty AND juicy by giving directions about not cooking the meat well done next time. The eggplant korma was fabulous and I also liked the salad and the nan, which was different from Indian naan. Rice was just ok; you can get the kebab plates for a few dollars less without the rice. An extremely clean, bare bones place that gives you a good, filling meal for around $ 12.

It is not a fancy restaurant. But for the money you pay, you will get a good quality afghan/persian food.

I ate here for lunch with my coworkers — apparently, this is the best kabob in Ottawa! I couldn’t be sure, since this was my first experience with Afghan food. We walked in to an empty restaurant, went up to the counter to order, and sat down at a table… a few minutes later, I was chowing down on some beef tikka … rice, salad, beef, and naan. The beef was good! Didn’t care much for the salad dressing. But I liked the naan! And the rice was rice. I was really stuffed afterwards, and I couldn’t even finish it all. I’ll definitely be trying more Afghan food in the future. It’s got potential! I just need to try more to figure out what I like best. Perhaps my biggest complaint about Salang Kabob House was that it was some awkward quasi-fast-food style, where you order at the counter, pick up the food when it’s done, and then go up and pay. IMO, they could move upscale a few notches if they just hired a waiter. Or at least make it more obviously fast food.

call me old fashioned but I like it when my food is cooked after I place my order — that is what happens here — it takes a while but I think it’s worth the wait — they don’t care if you are in a rush that’s how they operate — take it or leave it! and I like that :) You can order here your choice of meats(chicken, lamb, beef) on a skewer or served on a bed of mildly fragrant and tasty basmati rice along with lettuce, cabbage, cucumbers, tomatoes and white sauce — also comes with afghani bread(kinda like Indian naan but no oil or butter on it and dry) it’s kinda hard has the texture of a baguette but very tasty. I tried only one dish here the Chicken tandoori combo and it was delicious a good balance of spices and aroma — not like a bang but it’ll grown on you as you complete your meal oh yeah and don’t forget to taste that red sauce which looks and tastes a bit like salsa but has a bang to it — they come in those little plastic containers I would def. go here again — I recommend you check it out too!

A few of us dropped by here last night for some food before a movie. It’s not my first time here and it definitely won’t be my last. I’ve had all the kabobs here and they are all delicious. My favourite are the chicken kabobs but they’re all very good. They’re cooked perfectly inside and out. All the platters come with salad, rice with the kabobs on top and bread. The bread is made there and really good. Remember to ask for some hot sauce. It reminds me of a salsa but is very tasty. My friends ordered the lamb shank which is a monster portion size and another friend ordered the tandoori chicken which seemed like a whole chicken. I was later told that it was half a chicken. The place isn’t fancy but looks newly renovated and is really clean. I’m definitely going to let more people know about this place.

Tasty kabobs and side dishes. No table service so it is a bit on the pricey side. We had the Beef Tikka, Lamb Tikka, Chicken Breast Kebob, Eggplant Qorma, and Spinach Sabzi. The naan was fresh and delicious. The only dessert, Firnee, is a white pudding. Worth a try though not for everyone.

I cannot drive by this place without going in and ordering something. Even tonight, on my way to a dinner party, I had to stop, order a few kabobs and bring them along. They were the hit of the party. This cozy, bright restaurant serves delicious Afghan food at excellent prices. Try the kabobs of course, but don’t forget to get an order of Afghan dumplings called Mantu.
