My parents and I ordered the Family Platter here recently. It’s $ 33.99 and is enough food for 4 people. You get to choose 2 meats(from chicken shawarma, beef shawarma and donair), 4 kofta, 8 falafels(although we substituted this with an order of potatoes), rice, 2 salads(we got 2 orders of fattouch), hummus, garlic sauce and a bag of pitas. My parents had eaten here before, but it was my first time. They wanted to substitute the falafels for potatoes because they said the falafels here are dry and crumbly. I didn’t have any falafels, so I can’t comment on that. I loved the chicken shawarma. There was a good mix of crunchy pieces(how I love the crunchy pieces…) and soft juicy pieces. The beef shawarma had less crunchy pieces, but was still delicious. Both meats were very flavourful. There was a good amount of meat in the platter. The kofta were logs instead of balls and were ok. I’m not a huge fan of meatballs/meat logs so I just thought they were unremarkable. The potatoes were really good. They were browned to perfection and nicely seasoned, and not overly oily/greasy. The rice(which was under the meats) was also nicely done. It was white rice with a bit of fried vermicelli in it. The fattouch was also good. There was romaine lettuce, tomatoes and crispy pita pieces in it. The garlic sauce was potent. It was incredible garlicky! The hummus was creamy and smooth. We actually ordered by phone and then I went to pick it up. When I arrived(probably 15 minutes later) it was there and waiting for me. Service was nice and efficient. I felt that the food was really good and the price was right. There are lots of shawarma options in Orleans and so far, I think Shawarma Chef is one of the better ones!
