Shawarma king gave my boyfriend and I food poisoning last night. The chicken was also burnt. We spent all night throwing up.

Great shawarma plates, also their sandwiches and potato combination is great. I have eaten here countless times and the only thing I would have to say is their delivery service could use some work.

Atmosphere isn’t great, but can’t argue with the quantity/price. Huge mixed shawarma plate, comes out to just over $ 15. Comes with substantial amount of chicken & beef, shaved off the slow roast(and not BBQ’d like most sub-par places, very traditional). The hummus is nicely complimented by a free piece of pita, and the garlic potatoes and rice is a nice touch. Recommended by our Über drivers as the best place for shawarma in Ottawa(along with Shawarma Palace), so check them out!

Got take out from this place a few times mainly because it’s open late and I work nights, last few times the meal has been somewhat adequate and the service wholly and truly atrocious several times the wrong meal or several parts of it has been sent to my colleagues and myself, left out items that never get brought though its included in the meal, being charged for condiments that every other shawarma restaurant gives free(most people would assume garlic potatoes comes with garlic). Don’t phone to complain that that will be your undoing never will your order be right again if this tribe of jokers bothers looking at Unilocal I would truly be surprised

Was craving more shawarma after Greekos Souvlaki & Pizza’s lackluster fare. It was really late into the night, about 12:30, so after looking for a place that was still open and delivered, we decided on here. Plus a friend had said good things about the place. I ordered 2 chicken shawarma sandwich combos online. The order came about 50 minutes later. The young delivery guy was completely indifferent, and was quickly out on his way. We then discovered 2 completely different drinks than what we ordered. Bad luck. The sandwiches were good. but boy did they started to fall apart. The potatoes were good, but I felt like there wasn’t very much of it. Enjoyed the garlic sauce though. Not a bad place to order from for a late night meal.

The shawarma plate was okay(3.5÷5), decent portion but it was pretty dry. But their chicken wings are the greatest thing ever. They are so delicious and so cheap that I order them all the time. At first I thought it was sketchy ordering chicken wing a from a shawarma place, but they are seriously so amazing.

Previously I had reviewed that Shawarma King had some customer service standard problems. While the food was very good, I did not find people working there very friendly. As a result I had not returned for a long time. Well I was driving down Bank Street and a favourite restaurant I had planned to eat at was closed so I decided to give it another shot. When I entered I immediately saw a large Canadian flag overhead near the menus and it made me feel optimistic that indeed things had been brought up to a North American standard of service. I ordered a beef Shawarma and while the young man serving me was not overly friendly it was passable. He made me a chicken Shawarma and I chalked that error up to him perhaps being hard of hearing or not speaking very good English. I let that go, still hopeful that service at the cash was better. An older man rung up my order silently then looked at me without smiling as the total came up on the screen. No words or that will be $ 6.80 or anything at all. I gave him the money and still no thank you for the business or anything at all. This business should realize that if customers leave their premises with a more positive vibe then repeat business is more likely. Even though the Shawarma was very good, it certainly is not very probable in my case…

This review comes from a friend who has a sophisticated shawarma palette. Meat looked very dry on the rotisserie. Falafel and turnip looked like it was sitting out for hours. Only one person staffed on a Friday summer night. The chicken barely tasted like shawarma because it was so dry, but the service was very friendly.

Stopped in for dinner tonight at Shawarma King. I’ve passed by this place many times over the years but decided to give it a try on my quest to try all of the shawarma in the city. The service was typical, not bad, but not special. The food was good with a good size portion, but the meat was a little dry and the garlic sauce was a little weak. The salad didn’t taste very fresh. The restaurant was clean, but the décor seems to be aging. All in all, a very typical shawarma place, nothing bad but nothing special.

It’s pretty good. It’s not the best Shawarma, but it’s decent, and still better than any other fast food place on Bank Street between Laurier and the 417. They need to put a railing for their bathroom and mark it better that it’s down a sudden flight of stairs. My friend and I almost fell down them as we were expected a hallway, not stairs.

By far my favorite shawarma joint in town! I usually get a «custom made» one of garlic sauce, hummus, tahini, cauliflower, eggplant, white rice, tabouleh and all the fixings… oh ya, and extra time on the grill… love it crispy! Warning, their garlic sauce is inconsistent. Personally, I love it when it’s super garlicky but sometimes you can hardly detect it’s there at all… and I find that it makes or breaks how awesome the shawarma is. Also, when I’m in the mood for meat, although the chicken is good, I love the beef. I think it’s marinated with cinnamon(and only order half the portion cuz there’s a lot of meat!)

The food was good. I think the beef was Better than the chicken. The falafel sandwich was likely one of the best I’ve ever had. However, honestly speaking I think the garlic sauce was a bit too pungent. Good food overall, probably not the best though.

I stopped by there around 10:30 pm and ordered«Combo 1» which includes a sandwich, drink and side of garlic potatoes for 8.99. My potatoes were not fresh, but I guess that is to be expected at the time that I went. The garlic paste had good flavour, but a little too runny in my opinion. The sandwhich tasted good, but completely fell apart more and more with each bite. I couldnt eat the last bit because it was just all over the place. The store itself could be cleaner. The display shelves are dusty and theres a fridge display beside the cash with candy bars just thrown in. It makes the store look very messy. The staff were friendly, but the washroom had no soap or paper towels. The tables were also not wiped down even though there were not too many people in the place. As far as a restaurant goes, I wouldn’t classify this place as one — its more what you’d expect from a food truck. My experience was less than average.

Ordered from Shawarma King via
I was very pleased with the delivery time. I called in to modify my order less than 10 mins after submitting it and the driver had already been sent out. It was fresh as well. I had the beef shawarma sandwich and ordered a chicken plate for the next day(with potatoes). The potatoes don’t warm up well but the rest does. My only issue was that I ordered a pineapple juice and got a guava one instead. I RECOMMEND: Avoiding shawarma deliveries if you don’t like everything in your sandwich. It’s really hard to designate your toppings on the website. EXTRATIP: Garlic and hommous/hummus. Always. Or what’s the point?!

I am not a big Shawarma fan, but Shawarma KIng is definitely making the best Shawarma in Ottawa. This is the only Shawarma place that I would go to get my Shawarma.

I’ve eaten here several times during my stays in Ottawa. As far as shawarma goes, it’s good. The garlic sauce is very strong — but in a good way! Portions are enormous, food tastes good. Just be ready to taste garlic and shawarma for the next 6 – 8 hours. :) Two things I especially like about this place: 1) they are open late(2−3am) 2) they take American Express(helpful for work)

Ordered two beef shawarma sandwiches, one with garlic and one with hot sauce. Both were super tasty, the pickled part was well done(actually properly done) and delicious. The hot sauce was surprisingly good too. Had it delivered and it was fast, and cheap, and tasty. So pretty happy.

I want to start off by pointing out that the sign says Shawarma King, but their website and menus and Shawarma’S King. I have a few friends that were under the impression that they were two different places, but it’s all the same. I started ordering delivery from Shawarma’s King when I was in my first year at Carleton, and even though I moved away for a couple years after graduation, every time I came back to visit I would always try to get a shawarma there. Now that I’ve moved back to Ottawa, I’m glad they’re still making them the way they always have. They’ve expanded their menu in recent years to include more combos and two different shawarma sizes, small and large. The prices have also gone up a few bucks, so it may not be as cheap as you remember, but still a good deal. I’ve had their beef and mixed shawarma platters, which is a ridiculous amount of food that includes salad and both rice and garlic potatoes, though you can opt for just potatoes and no rice, or vice-versa. A lot of the time they overcook the beef to make it crispy, and the potatoes can be really, really greasy, but OH-MY-GOD is their garlic sauce amazing! I always ask for it on the side, as well as inside my shawarma sandwich. It’s literally pureed fresh garlic, and, no joke, you’ll have to brush thrice, use mouthwash, chew gum, and shower just go get the taste of the garlic our of your mouth and stop it from seeping out of your pores. I’ve never had any other garlic sauce this potent, including restaurants in Toronto. Even with all of that in mind, it’s just so good that you can’t help yourself! I’ve recommended it to friends from Toronto that visit Ottawa, and they all agree with me that it’s by far the best garlic sauce they’ve ever had. Their Cocktail King drink might seem pricey, but it’s like eating a really sweet and refreshing fruit salad, so it’s good to eat after your meal if you need something to help cut the grease. If you’re looking for dessert, they also include 1 piece in most of their sandwich combos, or you can purchase a whole box of 8. They’re open incredibly late(until 4am on Fridays and Saturdays), they always deliver within 40 minutes max, and they offer Interact on delivery. I have to say that they’ve remained one of my favourite Ottawa fast food joints, especially when I was a student!
