I have been to Swiss chalets a number of times and I love the quarter chicken dinner meal.

Tried ordering online, but the website wasn’t functioning properly. On the phone the person refused to let us order what we’d seen online. Apparently there was no way for the phone person to punch in the same order as we’d wanted online. Alright, we’ll go somewhere else then!

On a super cold Ottawa day my sister and I spent the day shopping for winter gear for me. Hey I live in Vancouver, Bog boots and a balaclava are not part of my clothing closet! Anyways well after 230 pm we stopped by Swiss Chalet for a quick lunch. Food is about the same as every other Swiss Chalet I’ve been to. Chicken was a bit dry but they give you their gravy to dip your chicken in so that helps a lots. Service at this location was on the poor side. Our waiter was abrupt and a bit rude. He certainly did not have a friendly disposition. It was like we were inconveniencing him by coming in and expecting service. I had to ask him twice for a pop refill.

Oh Swish(as my university friends so fondly called it). Why oh why do I still continue coming here, even though I know the food and service are subpar? I’m convinced you put some kind of crack in your dipping sauce that gets triggered once every six months or so. To be fair, there are some Swiss Chalet locations that are decent(like the one across from Carlingwood Mall), but this one just isn’t quite there anymore. Firstly, when I came in with my sister today, we were seated promptly, but it took over 15 minutes for someone to come to our table for our drink orders. They arrived about 10 minutes later. The food is standard — we ordered the spring rolls and the perogies to share. I’m usually fond of both, but these ones tasted like they’d been frozen or reheated or something. Not great. I got the chicken club wrap and coleslaw. Big mistake. Unless you specify white meat on your wrap, it comes with dark and mine had tons of gristle and fat in it. Ew. Otherwise, the veggies on it were fresh. The coleslaw wasn’t bad per say, but there was a HUGE mound of it on my plate. I just wanted a little bit, but I guess I can’t blame them. Not toop many people order coleslaw right? They were probably just trying to get rid of it. Anyway, while our server did the normal stuff like clear our plates and bring us our little finger bowls, he hardly said two words and never checked on us. I think it’s safe to say I won’t be back here any time soon. Now, if I could just break myself of their dipping sauce, all will be right with the world.

May 2012. Not overly impressed with the service. and the food was inexcusable. I ordered a chicken wrap with a salad, and low and behold, it was disgusting, and soggy in the middle. Dripping water, and I also found a chunk of ice in it. When I ordered a replacement, to my horror, it was frozen solid in the middle. When I go out to eat, I expect my food to be made fresh, but to pre-cook and freeze something as simple as a WRAP(of ANY kind) is just plain lazy, ridiculous, and embaressing. After this experience(I’m not sure if this location is private or corporate) I would NEVER give Swiss Chalet another chance. How am I sapposed to know if anything they make is fresh when they are freezing something as simple as a wrap?
