**Please note that this review is post liquidation announcement. Boyfriend playing hockey at RA centre across the road last night so I popped in here to check out if there was anything worth buying in their liquidation sale.(Just started yesterday) To be honest I’m glad I didn’t make the trip purely for that. Large majority of stuff is just 10% off and yes 10% is something but really it’s nothing! 10% items were women’s clothing, underwear, guys clothing, cards, candles, grocery, home wares, bedding, towels, large appliances. Women’s clothing left was v limited, lot of underwear left. I had seen a few sweaters in here i liked a few weeks ago but they had practically no sweaters left at all let alone the ones i liked. Home stuff there was still big selection. Guys clothing a still had decent amount of lines. 20% off kids clothing, looked to be a low stock left as two things i wanted for my little niece the sizes were finished. And the only thing I found worth the trip. cosmetics 30% off. But at 9.30pm the selection left was pretty limited and in a mess organisation wise. I picked up some loreal mascara, essie nail polish, maybeline eyeliner, Sonya Kashuk lashes and a few other bits. Sadly hardly none of the Nyx or Sonya Kashuk make up left. Target was never the cheapest for some of these make up lines, shoppers and Walmart always beat them but with the 30% it made it a saving. just! Hoping that next week they have reduced stuff further. Would like to pick up some candles and maybe some gym gear but if it remains at 10% ill go elsewhere. If I pass by another Target location over the next week or so I may pop in to see if there’s anything different but I wouldn’t go out of my way to go. Just for the record I always liked Target and will be sad to see it go from the Canadian market. I think they over saturated the market here far too quickly. Never been to one in the US but will check one out if ever there in future.

So it’s a new chain. Another in a long line of taking down Canadian businesses. Meh I have shopped there for a few items, but there’s no deals here. Seems a little overpriced for what they offer. I’ve seen better deals on eBay! That is of course if it’s on the shelf. On any occasion visiting the shelves seem starkly empty of stock. Why? The staff are helpfull I have seen merchandise that I KNOW I can get cheaper elsewhere. I am still not sure what their purpose in Canadian life is. This one is convenient because they closed the Zellers down and so it is the only department store in this mall. Basically it sucks lemons, but is good to purchase pee-pads for your furbaby and candy, Everything else is overpriced! Oh, I already said that!

On returning to Target, I was happy to see they now have BOTH cashier check-outs on top of their self-serve checkouts at the mall entrance/exit. This seemed to really help keep the lines down and speed up the checkout service.

I am a fan of the US Targets but the Canadian ones still don’t have enough stuff on their shelves! I understand that there are problems importing US products into Canada(inefficient and in my opinion useless differences in standards and regulatory practices). Hoping that Target and CBSA work out their issues over the superiority of four-peg pup tents versus five-peg tents. The other serious problem is the Billings Bridge mall entrance/exit. This narrow channel is home to the cart corral, cashiers and self-serve check-out. All of this crammed into a 15 foot wide alley just doesn’t work. Neither does the single line-up that funnels customers to either full-serve or self– serve cash registers. Come on, US industry, you invented the Ford assembly line. Give us some efficiency and innovation. We’re expecting a customer experience at least as good as the average Tim Hortons. Even though, during my last visit, Target seemed to have a lot of staff able to direct traffic, they mostly seemed to congregate uselessly in the centre of the chaos looking woebegone. Nobody was willing to step up and speak directly to customers about where they ought to be going. Hoping that Target BB figures this out soon or the holiday shopping season will be disastrous!

No, it’s not as big as I would have liked and their shoe selection isn’t great, but it’s much better than the Zellers that was here before, and I’m happy to have an alternative to Walmart. I went here on a Sunday with Fauve G and Laura B and we found a lot of great deals on clothing and housewares. Their stuff is definitely higher quality than Walmart, and they have pretty friendly staff. The store was clean and tidy(as a new store should be), but I wasn’t as blown away as I wanted to be. Maybe the soon-to-open Merivale location will be better. My favourite perk has got to be that there’s a Starbucks inside, because after all that shopping I need a caffeine boost! Go here for inexpensive basics like solid tees, PJs and socks and stock up on some household stuff while you’re there.

Wow, So Targets doors has opened, and I am a fan! This location is bright, clean and the cashiers are friendly. I love their wide selection of brands that they carry. Could not believe the amount of candles that they carry here… Yankee candles! O-M-G! I found a great deal on some flats($ 20.00), as well as some interesting makeup lines brought in from the states(Pixi and Sonia Kashuk). Target has won me over as a customer. I was here for a good 2 hours today in awe over their home and decorating section. You have to go check it out! Only downside, they are music free, so no music while shopping!
