The sign on the restaurant reads: «The Friendly Corner Deli — Specializing in Roast Beef & Smoked Meat», and that’s exactly what it is! I’ve always passed by here and after seeing the plants and signs in the window, I asked my boyfriend about it. He told me that they have the best roast beef sandwich he’s ever had and that the man working there is very nice. They have daily specials that include roast beef, smoked meat, or donair sandwiches, but I couldn’t wait for a specific day — I just HAD to try it out for myself! The restaurant is very quaint and homey. It has a ton of handwritten signs, photos, and decorations that you would find at your grandparents’ house. There was even a sign that had an Elvis drawing with«This table reserved for lovers only» written underneath. Incredibly cute. There are only a couple of older men and one of their wives that work there, who I believe are the owners. When we walked in, the man at the counter that day was very soft-spoken and sweet, and was patient with me when I couldn’t figure out what I wanted. I finally decided on the roast beef sandwich. My boyfriend ordered a regular burger, and we were told to just have a seat, get a drink from the fridge, and that our orders would be brought to us at the table. It didn’t take very long, and we quickly realized that everything they make at this deli is homemade! The roast beef was tender and juicy, and the sandwich came with mustard, mayo, and a pickle. It didn’t look very large, but it was SO filling. We paid after our meal, which was very affordable, and we left completely stuffed and satisfied. I can’t wait to go back and try their smoked meat!
