Way too expensive for just«ok» food. The same size coffees vary in prices from day to day., yet the staff will argue that they are always the same price. Looked like a nice place with lots of potential, but was a let down.

I really want to like this place; I really, REALLY want to like this place. Thimble Café has my name written all over it– Disney inspired name and décor, tons of vegetarian/vegan/gluten free options, close to home, DELICIOUS cupcakes(shout out to the vanilla cupcakes, the buttercream icing is to die for.) The issues? The complete lack of customer service, astronomical pricing, and overall bad aura that surrounds the place. I’m willing to compromise subpar customer service for a great treat, but I am constantly feeling unwelcomed and poorly catered to. I pride myself on being an iced coffee connoisseur of sorts, so you can imagine my disappointment when, get this: $ 10 for a large iced coffee with soy milk and a flavour shot(before tip.) Now, if I’m going to spend $ 10 on an iced coffee it better pop a piece of gum out for me to soothe my after-drink-coffee-breath. I don’t use the word disgusting often, so believe me when I say it, folks, this iced coffee was disgusting. The colour didn’t even look like coffee, more like a dirty dishwater brown. The taste can only be described as a blend of cold water and burnt black liquorice. So you may ask yourselves, «so then why the two star rating?» Good question, I’m giving Thimble Café one star because they made an effort(a sad one, but an effort nonetheless) and one star I’m awarding to myself, for actually having the courage to sip the dishwater coffee. Save your money folks, there are far better cafés in the Ottawa area.

Great café. Dairy free, gluten free options. Nut free and it tastes AMAZING. Friendly staff and delicious food and drink. My new morning treat!

Stopped in here on a snowy winter’s day to be greeted by the enticing smell of tomato soup and coffee. The atmosphere was lovely and the service was friendly. As well as a menu they also sell British chocolates like Flakes which made this ex pat very happy. The coffee and tea was expertly made. I look forward to going back!

This place is delightful. And I don’t even like that word… but it fits. The atmosphere is unlike anything in Barrhaven. Service is always friendly and quick. The food is great — I have a hard time restraining myself every time I’m in there. Sandwiches are fantastic and made to order. The pastries make my knees weak. If you haven’t been here, you’re missing out.

Thimble Café is a regular spot for us. Being a family of vegans and vegetarians, it’s a great place to go with so many options. The soups are very good. The cup cakes are favourites with the kids and the sandwiches are great quality and delicious. They make fabulous chai tea and have all sorts of dairy alternatives to choose from. The atmosphere is lovely. It is counter service and once you have ordered, they bring your purchases to your table. There is a point card system for frequent visitors which is great. I highly recommend a visit.

There are so many wonderful things to say about this place, beginning with the fact that it’s in Barrhaven. There’s so few great spots here that aren’t chains, so I was thrilled to find out about their opening. Located on the outskits of Barrhaven(though I’m sure it won’t be the outskirts for long) off Strandherd and Cedarview, it’s a bit out of the way but totally worth it. The décor mirror the adorable ambience of ThimbleCakes in the Glebe, but is much more spacious. The atmosphere is wonderful — it feels like a beautiful living room and Parisian café all in one. This is a place you could sit for hours if you had the time. They grow their own herbs on the windowsill and have a spacious play area in the back of the restaurant. Serving up more than their cupcakes(though let’s be real, those are AMAZING as well), they serve sandwiches made with artisan bread(my fave was the Grown Up Grilled Cheese), soups and more. They have a great selection of gluten-free stuff, and I think I may have had the best iced chai of my life here — perfectly spiced and creamy. I can’t wait to find an excuse to head to Barrhaven and spend more time here!

Delicious sandwiches, cupcakes and amazing apple cider! A bunch of us went to ThimbleCafe last week for the good eats and sweet treats! I immediately ordered the Butternut Squash soup. I love a good soup in the fall, and this hit the spot. The Grown-Up Grilled Cheese was very tasty, made with pesto, and a white cheese… I actually can’t remember the kind and I would love if someone would comment and let me know what the actual cheese is that would be much appreciated! The chocolate chip cookie dough, mint chocolate, and vanilla mini cupcakes were all excellent! Hot apple cider and peach Italian soda hit the spot! The shop itself was amazing, adorable décor, comfy couches and little nooks — with herbs growing in the window!

Wow! What a cute little place to grab some sweets, coffee or lunch! So many gluten-free, peanut free, and dairy free options. For anyone who has allergies this place is a god send. The décor is quaint and adorable. The cupcakes, loaves and sandwiches all delicious. I highly recommend the pumpkin scone and an apple cider! I can see myself making a trip to Barrhaven just to stop in here or pick up an order/cake. The staff are super friendly, it’s clean and cozy, the food is tasty. what else could you ask for? I absolutely love this place!

Cute décor, comfy seating and good food(including gluten free options), this café was a pleasure to visit. Hubby and I tried a few things: Cookie Dough cupcakes, Chocolate mint thimble cake(so cute), and a sampling of the sandwiches.(We *loved* the Grown-up Grilled Cheese, though all of the sandwiches were good.) The cupcakes took strategy to eat(what’s the optimal angle of attack to avoid icing all over your face?). The thimble cakes take no strategy — just pop them in your mouth and enjoy.(Great idea for an office treat day.) Staff were cheerful and friendly, which we always appreciate. The airy pale mint and white décor is conducive to sitting and talking. At the front of the store is a space where a small group(6 people?) can congregate for a discussion. Towards the back are lots of spaces for pairs of people. Would I return: Yes. It’s a bit of a drive for me, but on the occasions that we are on that side of town, this will be on our list of places to eat. Would I recommend: Yes. It’s a great place for lunch or light dinner, and to get your sweet fix.
