Great family owned business with the service to prove it. We showed up on a Sunday to make or first patch of wine. Although it was busy, the employee who approached us insisted the owner would help us as it was our first time in. *enter Jason* Jason’s family owns the wine station and he was very helpful and courteous. He shared his wine knowledge and even made recommendations of his fave make your own batches. Even though it was busy he took his time with us and really made us feel at home. We are looking forward to bottling our first batch in just 4 short weeks from our visit and hoping to make some more wine very soon

When I returned from a long summer in the US and two years in Korea, I was accustomed to reasonable prices for alcohol. Then I returned to Ontario and, during my first trip to the LCBO, was rudely reminded of the province’s ridiculously high taxes on alcohol(Labatt’s Blue is $ 5.99 in the US and DOUBLE that in its home country!). As soon as I returned to Ontario, I swore I would begin to make my own. I asked around and was directed by locals to Wine Station — it is a make-it-yourself wine establishment on Bank Street south of the Wal-Mart plaza. It is located in an old Victorian house and really has a neat historic and traditional feel. It has been in business since 1992 and produces a broad selection(300+ varieties) of wine and the staff is knowledgeable and helpful. I am making a Pinot Grigio and will let you know how it turns out! It will end up being about $ 5 per bottle compared to $ 12 at the frickin’ LCBO!
