Not just a bar but an excellent eatery with the food quality and service as good if not better than the restaurants in Toronto.
Make reservations before you go because it’s packed all the time (which is always a good sign of great restaurant).
If your visiting Owen Sound make sure to stop here, what ever you order from the menu won’t disappoint.
They have the «flaming cheese» Saganaki, a greek semi-​hard cheese that tastes great after being fried in a pan and then lit on fire.
Another menu item to try is the Greek fries, which I call the Greek Poutine! The plate come with French fries that are covered in feta cheese and a oil and vinaigrette dressing, if you like fries and feta then order it.
The burgers are Gluten free and taste like a burger should taste like, you might have a hard time finishing your meal, good size portions.
And dessert, the coconut cream pie was very good and I think it was a quarter of the hole pie!
And of course the service was as top notch as the food. The waitresses are on top of things and are ready to help and serve you with a smile.
Overall a great restaurant!

Stopped at shortys as they came highly recommended by the locals for a pre game OHL dinner. So many great options but we settled for the wings and nachos … And it didn’t disappoint. The wings were so big and hard to finish and the nachos were a great pair. Enjoyed with local beers such as the Kilannen and Macleans… Made for a perfect meal before the game. Atmosphere was very classy. Not your average sports bar! Highly recommend!!!

Big mistake for a Friday night. It was so loud it was annoying, we could hardly hear across the table. Folks seem to yell. needs something to absorb the sound. Waitress was really put out to be working and made us feel like it. We couldn’t read the beer list as it was too far away and it was dim and she gave us no help but just stood there until I got up want walked over to look. Minutes later I heard another waitress list the whole works to her table.
We ordered and ate as we couldn’t chat– way too loud.
On my way to the washroom I read a sign saying they had a Prime Rib Special. I inquired to our waitress why she hadn’t mentioned special to us. Quite snotty she said its in the back of the menu.
So No with all the restaurants to pick from in OS won’t be back.
And yes tip reflected it. couldn’t leave fast enough

We enjoyed sitting at the bar and chatting with the friendly bartenders about what was happening in Owen Sound. It was wing night and so we went with them. I believe that they were breaded first and then coated in sauce – not my favourite way of cooking them. I think they should re-​visit their techniques in the kitchen and at least offer one type with no breading on it and a drier version –with the sauce baked in or just a rub on it. I think many customers would convert to this lighter version. I would try this place again if I’m ever back in Owen Sound as it had a great vibe and friendly atmosphere.

Didnt know what to expect here upon arriving into town. What a Pleasant surprise. Friendly service, and plenty of Beer Choices. Nice atmosphere lends for a good feeling visit.
Then onto the food. This is good and wholesome food. Steaks done very nice, fresh salads, and the deep fried fair to. Wide Varietal Menu.
Had the Village Salad, which is a take of Greek. Could have used a touch of Oregano but, still very good. A Greek salad not using Lettuce but fresh peppers and tomatoes & Feta.
Burgers, wow, well not your frozen store bought patties. But hand pressed thick patties come in at a whopping 8 oz. They even have a choice of Whole Wheat or White Buns.
Everyone at the table was happy with this experience. Nice way to meet Owen Sound.

Stopped in for lunch. Promptly greeted and offered table or bar. I ordered French onion soup and the smothered chicken. Both were delicious and well presented.
They have daily specials starting at just under $ 7. Clean and well maintained. I’ll come back around again

foods are in super big quantity. Couldn’t eat everything at all but still with reasonable price. The only problem is waiting to order is tooooo long.

Just got back from a delicious dinner with a fantastic waiter (from New Zealand), Jade. He was so polite and came back a few times to see how we were doing.
We had steak and lobster ravioli and it was to die for!
It was my first time going and I was so surprised. The waitresses are very nice, the owner is very accomodating and the atmosphere is relaxing.
Drop everything you are doing and go to Shortys! :)

Average bar food. Fast and friendly service, food slightly above average but so are the prices.

Great spot for a pint after work week with friends!

Shorty’s is a pleasant surprise among the limited selection of quality food and drink establishments in Owen Sound. If this was the big city, they’d call it a «gastropub», but here that would just be pretentious.
We arrived on wing night, so we sampled a number of flavours. Highly recommended are the «bobcajun» wings, which are rolled in a Cajun dry rub and then a light coating of BBQ sauce. The lime and cracked pepper were also good, and the wings crispy verging on overcooked but still tasty.
I was happy to see some favourites on tap: Creemore, Steamwhistle, Mill Street Organic and others.
The rest of the menu looked promising as well, with a decent selection of entrees.

I love this place. Very classy for what I think is supposed to be a sports bar. Atmosphere is pleasant. Food is fantastic too. A real gem!
