Went to the Cedar Room for lunch today. This restaurant is okay but I don’t think I will be returning soon. The prices are too high for the quality of the food – and that’s not saying much given the prices are not that high($ 10⁄18 for ½/1 lb. of muscles, $ 9 for seafood chowder, $ 14 for fish tacos). Hostess was on the phone when we arrived and was VERY slow to acknowledge our presence. Waitress was excellent. Tigh-Na-Mara is on such a beautiful property, I wonder why the restaurant doesn’t overlook the Strait of Georgia, have a great chef, and have a warm and inviting décor, styled after the resort’s beautiful log cabins. Of all the food we ate here today, the only item I would order again would be the seafood chowder — it was very good.

This place is beautiful inside — its someplace I can see having a night party or wedding reception in. The service was great. Only giving four stars just because the menu wasn’t very extensive. We ordered the seafood fondu. It is baby seafood(scallops, shrimp and crab) in a yummy white cheese sauce served with flat bread for scooping and a couple carrots and celery. It was really good. Our mains were the chicken, peppercorn poutine and the shaved roast beef sandwhich. The poutine was very peppery and yummy. Large portion! My sandwhich was great — it has shaved roast beef, onion and cheese inside and it came with homemade potato chips and your choice of a side — I got the house salad. I think I would go back — hopefully their menu will change and maybe they will add a few more things!

Dinner service on Easter weekend, with a later reservation, past the seniors dining hour. Dressed for the occasion, but not sure why as most were in their casual Van Isle wear, will remember for next time. Although there were several four tops available, my guest and I were seated at a two-top busy junction next to the busser station. Should have requested a change but I tried to embrace the Island mode. Now, I know I did not expect perfect service from the primary resort food facility, I would expect a level of decorum. The server was not rude, however, it was definitely short-staff. Being a food and service snob tempered by the location, price, and reputation — I still would put forth the following issues: — promise of bread, arrived well after the 1st appetizer was served — water supplied, but never refilled by anyone for the entire 2.5 hour dining experience — wine pouring was self service, I usually don’t mind, but at least try. — wine was chilled but the towel covering the wine cooler fell on the floor ½ though the dinner, but the server casually picked it up and put it back on the open bottle, we poured the rest of the wine into the wine cooler rather than think what cooties hopped a ride from the floor. Should have mentioned something, but eh, it’s Easter Now it was not all bad, the food itself was more than adequate, but the strange thing is that we were curious as to vegetables that adorned our entrees i. e radishes, yams, and sweet potatoes of varying colours. Both server and busser did not know what they were. No worries, just expected a bit more. The Law won’t return for dinner service. but will to try the breakfast/brunch.

Go to the Lounge on Wednesday afternoons for ½ price beer and appies! I’m writing this in March 2010 … not sure how long this special will run(it’s been on since January). Great prices, GREAT appies. We’ve made it a regular date with friends from the area, and I’ve driven visitors 60 km to dine there.
