I became hooked on «Independent Grocers» up in Haliburton were we had a cottage. Loved the service, the availability of the PC products, fresh veggies and fruit and the homemade breads. It just seemed natural to try out Allan’s which is close to where we live in Pickering. I feel the same way about this location as I did up north. Yes, it is smaller than the Loblaws store but I prefer the smaller store anyway. The service is great and although I wish the prices were a little lower(give us more sale items), the PC Plus program does help. If there is one area that needs improvement it would be making sure that product is replaced quickly especially if it’s a sale item. I now do most of my shopping at Independent Grocer both up north and down in the city. I would recommend this store to everyone.

I find this place a bit expensive, but I’ve never had a problem with the quality of the food.

I was trying to make the switch from Loblaws to AYIG and figured I would do a full shop here to see how I made out. On this particular occasion I was able to get everything I had gone for however, I took a look around for some of my more regular products I buy and couldn’t find them. To my surprise, they do carry a wide variety of natural foods such as Ezekiel bread… it’ll still cost you an arm and a leg though. I get that this store is a lot smaller than Loblaws and simply can’t carry the variety that Loblaws can so I know it’s a little unfair to compare the two but I need to be able to do a full shop… I don’t want to have to run all over the place for different things. I’ll give them this though… AYIG is far more likely to have the items noted in their flyer ACTUALLY in stock on the first day of the sale. What a concept! And if you need help of any kind the store manager, Tyler Allan, will go out of his way to help you. It’s clear that customer service is his number one priority.
