I was in the Pickering Lowe’s store(paint department) and explained to the personnel that I wanted a slight tint added to the primer I was about to purchase so that when I painted my garage walls with white exterior paint, I would not be «white blinded». The lady seemed to understand my request. I was horrified with the finished product as the tint was not«slight» as requested… It was very dark battleship grey! I brought it home to show husband(second opinion) who refused to use it as it would require 2 coats of white exterior paint, which is very pricey, to cover. I then called the store manager, Paul to see if they would remedy the $ 120 store error. He said that it is considered a customized colour and since I paid for it and left the store that it was too late. The error was not on my part as I had fully explained my intention. I would expect that a paint store rep would know how much tint to use. In our experience, Lowe’s box store paint reps are insufficiently trained. Furthermore Lowe’s will not remedy their errors. Save your money and go to a qualified paint store. It will cost less in the long run. Lowe’s paint clerks unfortunately lack basic paint colour/tint knowledge and their management does not stand behind their errors. Definitely, never pay for or leave the store with their paint product if you are uncertain! Shay
