Lawd knows if I’m going camping, I’m a bring me some wine — I’m a classy kind of camper, is all. But in the haste of prepping for my most recent camping excursion, this one particular and vital part of my packing was left behind. Yes, I forgot my bottle(s). Lougheed Liquor to the rescue! Convinced that a liquor store located on the side of a highway that’s somewhere between suburbia and hell wouldn’t have even the basic of basic wines, I was understandably hesitant to enter. But desperate times, friends — you know what they call for. Imagine my surprise to find that not only do they have the basic of basics, but they offer a limited selection of higher end wines, decent scotch and a helluva lotta beer(natch). Best part? Unlike some private liquor stores, this one doesn’t gouge at the register. Prices are hardly more than at government stores. So I left, without a dent in my wallet, three bottles of wine in my arms.
