In a Wink Beautique

Not wanting to worry about eye makeup after my baby is born I decided to try eyelash perming and dye. I have naturally very straight and blonde lashes and am in love with the results! They look long dark and curled and with no real upkeep! The lady who did my eyelashes was wonderful. Professional, sweet and talked me through the entire process before. I was so relaxed during the treatment I fell asleep!
The salon is not the swankiest I’ve ever been to but it’s clean and tidy and with the great service and fantastic treatment results I didn’t mind! I will definitely be back!

I’ve had eyelash extensions done here twice. Both ladies applying the lashes took their time, were polite, and did a great job. My eyelashes came out looking full and natural not noticeably fake! Definitely worth the natural eyelash extension Groupon.

I had one of the worst hair experiences at this salon. I had very long dark healthy hair and after I left I had bleached fried breaking hair. I did tell the stylist If what I asked for was not possible to skip the colour and just cut and style but we both decided to proceed. After hours at the salon I left some what happy with my lighted hair. I then washed all the product out of my styled hair to realize the damage that had been done. I cried, I know ridiculous it’s just hair but all you women out there understand the feeling! A bad colour job is not the issue because we can always go back to a dark colour but damage to that extreme is not reversible. We are not experts on colour or hair for that matter we don’t realize how the process works. If something is not attainable we should be told. I emailed the owner who did see me the next day, she gave me what I do have to say was one of my best haircuts considering she was trying to keep length while cutting most of the damage out. She explained the issue with lightening dark hair but tried to minimize the horror I experienced while defending her stylist which I understood she does employ her. She put in a toner which darkened the brass and did a treatment to help with the dryness all free of charge. This was appreciated but at the end of the day this could have all been avoided with some blunt honesty.

I really tried to like this salon. its close by, its cute, and they offer quite a few things. I’ve gone for 2 pedicures now. Same girl both times. I am a nail tech as well, so when I get pedicures done, I am… well… let’s say picky. But how could I not be? You should be too!
The service just feels half assed. There is no attention to detail. Basically she just went through the motions with minimal effort. Callous reduction, cuticle work. so robotic. I asked what kind of topcoat she used, she had no idea. The bottles are all unlabeled, which is fine, as long as YOU, the professional, know what youre using. She didnt. which isn’t good practice… and its the manager’s problem.
The last time I went, I got a solid colour polish, with a glitter coat. She said «oh, okay, the glitter coat will be the topcoat». uh, no it wont. It doesnt have the same properties as a real top coat. I was pretty disappointed that she didnt know that. I wound up putting on my own top coat when I got home, which I really shouldnt have to do. She also missed buffing one foot, and I asked her if she did it, and if she did she was really fast. She stumbled a bit then said «oh yeah, I did it». No she didnt. I was watching like a hawk. Meh, just sucked.

I’m from WA but I was in Canada to visit family. I’ve been contemplating about getting extensions for a while but hadn’t done it because of the initial cost and because I rub my eyes a lot. While in Canada the past weekend I thought I’d just go for it plus my aunt was willing to do it with me. I found In A Wink through its sister store Wink. Wink was initially all booked so they referred me to In A Wink. I am so glad that they did because Angie was so nice, professional and amazing. She explained everything thoroughly and answered all of our newbie questions.
Besides eyelash extensions they offer other salon services such as hair styling, cuts, color. They also offer nails, facials and waxing I believe. They have salon quality nail polishes for sale as well as other items such as jewelry and maintenance care. They have a lot of stuff for sale that doesn’t look too overwhelming in the boutique. I’ve been to some places that sell a lot of stuff but look cluttered. This place isn’t, its has a cohesive interior design.
I wish I could say I’d go to Angie for every fill but because of the distance I can’t make a promise but FOR SURE if I need a fill and happen to be in Canada In a Wink will be my first stop.

In a Wink is an offshoot of the popular Wink Beauty lounge in Gastown, except it does more than just eyelash extensions. It’s a really beautifully decorated hair salon, with separate manicure and pedicure area, as well as private rooms for massages/​facials/​other spa stuff.
I first went here for a haircut Groupon and decided to try their eyelash extension services as well. I loved my haircut by Caitlin. I know I suck at describing what I want in a haircut, but Caitlin asked me questions all throughout the haircut to deliver me with the hairstyle I wanted exactly. The eyelash extensions were just as good as the ones at Wink. In fact, I think they are staying on for longer than the ones I got applied at Wink. It’s been over a month now and I have yet to go for a refill.
My 2^nd visit was for a Day at the Spa package I got for my mommy for Mother’s Day. (They routinely have specials on their facebook page so check often!) She got an in a flash facial, express mani, scalp massage, deep conditioning hair treatment, and style. I also added on a haircut for my mommy for $ 25.
I gotta say this for In a Wink and Wink beauty lounge… they definitely excel at customer service. My mommy felt so pampered and I felt that the girls taking care of her that day treated her just as well as they would treat their own mommy. :)
Needless to say, I’m impressed by all aspects of In a Wink. Oh, and they also have a pretty lil boutique at the front of the store selling cosmetics and jewelry.
