Being there once and very impressed. The sushi is huge and very good. We actually order more than we can eat

We have received nothing but exceptional food and service at this sushi place. It has some of the freshest and best tasting sushi in the lower mainland. We have frequented many places over the years but found our sushi ‘home’ at Namoo!

Great Japanese restaurant! The food here both looked good and tasted good. They took some time to bring the dishes to us though. We have seven people and we ordered 1 udon, 2 rices, 1 dinner box, 1 assorted tempura, 1 sashimi and 1 spicy sushi combo. Those were absolutely ample for us. The atmosphere in the restaurant is quite Japanese styled and the waitresses are friendly.

My first experience with Namoo sushi was ordering a take-out Chicken Teriyaki box for lunch along with a chopped scallop roll. The box comes with 4 pieces of california roll, tempura, salad, and miso soup. At 7.95 for the lunch box, I thought it was excellent value, I was more than stuffed and probably shouldn’t have ordered the extra roll. The tempura tasted good(no stale oil) with 3 pieces of sweet potato, yam, and shrimp. I asked for no bean sprouts on the chicken teriyaki to which they obliged with no issue. I wish they had added a little bit more rice in place of bean sprouts, but not a big deal. My second time with Namoo was sitting in for dinner. I was surprised when my husband and I came in on a weeknight. I guess I wasn’t expecting it to be that busy but we actually had to wait about 10 or so minutes for a table. Considering the number of tables, I think the restaurant was slightly understaffed with only 2 waitresses. I think they could have used at least one or two more. Service was slightly slow. I ordered the Dinner Box A which was nearly identical to the Chicken Teriyaki lunch box, only you get 4 more pieces of california roll, 5 pieces of tuna and salmon sashimi, and sunomono. At $ 16 this was decent value considering all the variety you get in one box. Like my lunch combo, I really enjoyed it. My husband ordered the dyna combo(1 dynamite roll, 4 pieces nigiri) and the Red Dragon roll which was like a dynamite roll but with spicy sashimi(tuna I think) and crunchy yam bits on top. The dynamite roll was okay, with more crab filling than anything else and a small shrimp tempura inside. I think knowing this, he’d probably skip the dynamite roll altogether if he orders the Red Dragon next time. I do think some of their specialty rolls are a bit expensive, but overall I was still impressed with the Red Dragon roll and the food. Prices are okay, probably a bit above average. I think our meal came out to $ 40 after everything, whereas we normally spend about $ 25 – 30 at our regular sushi spot. Still, it’s a nice change from our regular go-to places, and given its proximity to home, I’ll definitely come back.

Service — there was none. They ignored us, never refilled our water. Not once offered napkins. We had 2 young kids. Clean — lmao… far from it! They gave us reused paper napkins with stains all over them. Run fast from this place!!!

Great place for sushi, I’ve never had a single piece that taste bad. My favourite is the Red Dragon Roll!!!

Great family place, friendly staff, fresh and flavourful food. We had the hot nights roll, which has a spicy baked salmon on top of a crab and yam roll, it was just delicious. We also ordered the spicy combo that comes with spicy tuna and spicy salmon rolls, with spicy sashimi. The spicy sauce wasn’t store bought very yummy. Unagi(eel) melted in your mouth it was just perfectly cooked. Highly recommend!

We like Namoo Sushi a lot, and go here a few times a month. They have fresh sushi and interesting rolls. Portion sizes are generous, good value. It’s also less expensive than another popular sushi place in Coquitlam that we also like.

After our favourite sushi place changed owners :( And then our 2nd favourite sushi place burned down :(:( We had to find a new sushi place in Port Moody. We decided to give Namoo a try. In 2010 we had tried Namoo and found the rolls were not that great. However, I have now eaten at Namoo twice in the past month and have been very pleasantly surprised. The food has really really improved. The roles are neat, well put together and flavourful. We went for dinner on Saturday night and were served promptly. Their Agedashi tofu was a very generous portion and very delicious. Their vegetarian rolls were very nice. Overall, this is our new favourite sushi place. So glad to have re-discovered it. In terms of ambience. Namoo is definitely lacking. tables are old and need to be re-done/re-lacquered(some staining), and furniture is old. But I don’t go for sushi for the ambience.

Randomly found this place after hiking and thankfully it opened at 4:30. My friend and I ordered some food and they were tasty. I got Dinner Box A(miso soup included) and it was delicious and filling. My friend ordered Sockeye Salmon Sashimi and Agedashi Tofu and she loved her food as well. Service was good. However server looked confused when we asked to break $ 50 bill. First she gave change from two orders and said she’ll give refund. We just wanted to pay separately and my friend didn’t have smaller bill. That was odd. Anyways Namoo Sushi was good.

Reading some of these reviews is a little surprising. We are regulars, for a few years. In the 100+ times we have been there, I never remember the smell of raw fish that had gone off. When its busy, service can be a little slower, but that is to be expected. The décor is faily lame, but we are there to eat right? The food has been spot-on for 99% of the time, I remember one time I had been served a burnt dinnerbox(Chicken, could have been the sauce), so one time shitty food. New menus and items, and the price is right. Now, the reason for the down-grade of my rating: –The booths are to tight/uncomfortable, and they still have not replaced the crappy chairs. –The owners now play super-christian elevator-style music I and my wife find exceedingly painful to listen to. –The leave the T.V. set to the golf channel at all times. Even if is a infomerrcial on(a golf infommercial). I ask them to put on the Canucks game, and I inevitably have to change the channel for them, as they do not know how to use their own TV. –The way they wash their water glasses does not meet adequate health standards, watch as they do it, just behind the till. The sushi is good though, probably going tonight, I just won’t order the dinner box, or get water with my order.

Namoo makes some of the best sushi in Coquitlam/Port Moody. I love the Washington roll, salmon-avocado roll and yam tempura rolls. They really use the perfect balance of rice and filling. I enjoy the staff here and find them very personable and they really make an effort to be as efficient as possible, despite how busy this place is with take-out orders and in-room dining. Namoo will always be my go-to for sushi nights.

Great sushi, reasonably priced. I love the fact when you walk in the entire staff greets you and when you leave they thank you. Owning a local business I try to support other local businesses and the experience here is quite lovely. No problem making any substitutions, fish is fresh and the rolls are lovely.

I don’t understand how people call this place great… everything we got served was just super salty — especially the miso soup. Had one sip and could have no more! I came home and was crazy thirsty till the next day.

Shouldn’t even rate this place one star. At first it looked unique, but then when we went to go to our seats they told us we couldn’t sit at a table with chairs(didn’t want to sit at a booth) as they MIGHT have guests coming at that time. So we persuaded them to let us sit at a table with chairs. Then the big group came ANDTHEYASKEDUSTOMOVEWHILEMIDMEAL. Worst experience ever!

Finally some quality sushi I can rely on. There are some sloppy sushi restaurants around the neighborhood. This place is yummy and consistent. They don’t overload their rolls with rice, mayo or sauce. Dishes are creatively plated and deliciously filling. Staff is friendly but sometimes forgetful. But service is good and sushi is even better.

If you eat a lot of sushi, you can smell freshness when you walk in the door. Namoo had the distinct smell of raw fish that was off right away. Because of that, I didnt have any raw fish and decided just to get the California rolls and some cooked things. I would say that the food was very average but I won’t he going there again — the smell put me off for good.

I had Namoo on my list of places to check out for a while. Finally I made it there the other night. It was pretty quiet when I walked in but started to fill up pretty quick the closer we got to dinner time. One thing I loved about this little joint in the tri-cities, was their service. As soon as you walk-in, they all greet you at the same time. They guys here are really young, very friendly and attentive. I mentioned to the hostess that it was my first time there and she told my server, so she came right away to ask if I had any questions about the menu. She recommended the Red Dragon Roll and I was glad she did!(I should have taken a picture to show you the size of that babe!). It is a california roll topped with spicy tuna sashimi and crunchy bites. It had a lemony sweet sauce that paired really well with it. I took half of the roll to go and the price was decent $ 10.25, something I’d share next time. The place is clean, casual and I liked the items on their menu. I would definitely go back to try more items!

We have a new Tri-Cities Sushi fave! After almost a year of swearing by another Sushi restaurant by home, on a lark we decided to try Namoo Sushi, and thank goodness we did! Always top notch service, and orders that are never poorly made, or items forgotten. Their Tuna Sashimi is to die for, and they have a fantastic choice of rolls for reasonable prices. I also like that they give you a container of soy sauce instead of those annoying little packets, so you always have enough. We have only ever ordered take out, but I do want to dine in once, because the atmosphere is quite cozy and very very clean.
