This review is for the wines only, as there is no restaurant or other facilities here. The cozy winery tasting room is in a wonderfully restored farm building. This is a small operation, so the tastings are usually conducted by the owners, James Lahti and Victoria Rose. The focus of the winery is producing a few good wines, not trying to make something for everyone. Their Pinot Noir Reserve is outstanding, regularly one of the best in the County. For the white wine lovers, they produce a lovely unoaked Chardonnay. There is also some Pinot Gris and rose, but these are produced in limited quantities and sell out pretty quickly. My personal recommendation is to have some of the 2010 Pinot Noir(drinking beautifully now) with cassoulet — a match made in heaven!

BOTTOMLINE: A very friendly owner, but a no-frills tasting experience. *My review of wineries are based on the actual experience of being there, *NOT* the wine itself.* PEC is pretty expansive, and Milford is pretty far to get to at its southern tip. Long Dog Winery is a very small winery that has been making quite the name for themselves, which prompted my DC and I to visit. Signage could be better as we overshot the really small, fenced off parking lot. The tasting area is at the end of a small gravel path from the parking lot and consists of a cabin. We were the only customers there and we were greeted by the owner himself, who had just been attending to fixing up his tractor. He was very friendly and welcoming, and was clearly passionate about the wines he was producing. He was generous with his pours and there was no pressure to purchase(although, of course, we did!). I didn’t notice a tasting fee. Unfortunately, the space was pretty small, and I could imagine it becoming quite cramped with a few more people. There was no food pairing with their wines, which was too bad.
