Love this marvellous, magical place. Hidden in the middle of almost nowhere(yet only 15 minutes from Guelph or Cambridge). Danish sandwiches so good that if this place were in Toronto it would be on every«foodie’s» top ten list. Ice cold beer(ignore that review that mentions warm beer – I can’t believe it!). My wife and I always sit in the window of the library room and marvel that this strange island of charm exists at all. I wish i was there right now.

4.5 Love this place. Stumbled upon this trying to find a place to eat in the Guelph area after visiting the Aberfoyle Antique Market. Rustic, homey, Inn up in the mountains kinda feel. Essentially a villa retreat with camping, restaurant, and park grounds. Restaurant greets you as soon as you pull in. There’s mention of needing a membership– don’t know what that applies to. Restaurant is definitely open to the public. Smørrebrød(Danish open-faced sandwiches) is where it’s at. This tugged at my European heart strings. Huge selection of sandwiches buffet style where you can plate what you want to eat each sandwich priced and tallied at the till. Can pay on the spot or set a tab leaving your credit card at the till. Tried the smoked eel, smoked salmon, herring, egg and mackerel, esrom cheese, and smoked pork. Each sandwich is $ 5 – 7 with majority priced at $ 5. Not only was the main course delish, dessert was phenomenal! Typically don’t order dessert but you’ll want to here. Lagkage — Danish Layer Cake $ 6(liken to a strawberry shortcake but on another level) Winerbrød — Danish Puff Pastry $ 5 If your going to get dessert the layer cake is the way to go, not overly sweet. Patio seating but you’ll want to get there early. Lots of regulars lounging the afternoon away. Service was amazing lots of friendly staff. Finished your drink, not to worry your server is at your table ready to take your next order. Ice cold beer with Tuborg Gold and Carlsberg on tap. Bottles of Tuborg Green, Faxe Lager, Sommersby Cider, Aalborg and Jubilæums. And of course domestics. Want to be transported to Scandinavia look no further.

Amazing, Delicious and culturally accurate Danish food. I am Danish and my family and I came here for a memorial lunch for my late great grandmother. They were extremely accommodating to food allergies and went over and above to make our experience amazing. A very kind bunch. You will not be disappointed. Also the beer was not warm! It was ice cold :)

Dropped into the Danish Place tonight, Sunday, and enjoyed a wonderful kitchen platter. Three open face Danish sandwiches, chefs choice… Just realized you don’t have for fly all the way to Copenhagen for great authentic Danish food. Nice selection of beers and ciders as well. A nice drive from Cambridge, Hamilton or Guelph, around 20 minutes and the restaurant is located on a quiet country road in Puslinch. It has a lovely patio for dining in the summer. I will be back!

I was here Sun. Aug. 10/14, at noon. The beer was warm. Beautiful place, lovely setting and very interesting décor. However, the beer was WARM!

The Danish Place is located at Sunset Villa, a sort of campground/retirement village for Danish people. When you walk into TDP, it feels like you have just entered your grandparent’s dining room. Bric-à-brac aplenty, some wood paneling, and a peppering of friendly grey-haired diners. The restaurant itself is run by Benny, a sweet gnome-looking fellow, and his wife Anna, who runs the kitchen. The TDP experience starts long before you get to the restaurant. The drive out to Puslinch is amazing. It feels like touring through the English countryside… lots of rolling hills, pristine farms and old stone houses. When you pull into the campground it no longer feels like Canada. It’s not that it feels like Denmark, it’s just so baffling that there’s this huge campground in the middle of nowhere full of people named Magnus, Bjorn and Freda. It’s very strange. How to describe the food. Old world? Eel, smoked herring, spiced pork, liver, Danish meatballs. I feel like this is food that would come out of Beowulf’s kitchen. It’s hearty, unusual, and incredibly delicious. You simply don’t find restaurants that serve this kind of food any more.
