I cannot speak highly enough of this restaurant. Jean-Francois(Jeff) and his crew are simply an amazing group of people. The food was sensational. I ordered two specials of the day, a decadent seafood dish and a variation of an arincini bite, both of which were impecccable. Jeff graciously let me sample many wines, ciders and aperitifs as pairing suggestions for my meal, all of which were carefully thought over. He even went into great detail over the intentions and inspiration for the courses, and introduced me to the chef. Last, the restaurant has an amazing vibe. The whole crew have an amazing selection of vinyl that they rotate as music for the evening. They will happily field a suggestion from anyone in the restaurant, or talk your ear off about their music knowledge. They are also all incredibly friendly and personal. They will bend over backwards to ensure you have a great time. All in all, an unforgettable experience. And I like that it’s slightly off the main street(Rue St Jean), giving the restaurant more of an intimate vibe. I can’t wait to make a return trip to QC to visit here!

La Buvette figurait dans ma liste de restaurants à visiter depuis déjà quelques mois, mais cette fois-ci j’en ai eu la chance. Je suis tombé en amour avec l’ambiance chaleureuse de cet endroit d’une quarantaine de places dès que j’ai traversé l’entrée. Une gentille demoiselle est venue m’accueillir et a pris le temps de me parler un peu de l’histoire de la Buvette et de leur façon de faire. Une fois assis, il me restait à jeter un coup d’oeil sur l’ardoise. Choix de vins, bières et menu varié qui m’a tout de suite plu! Pas de table d’hôte, tout est à la carte(ou sur l’ardoise…) J’ai pris un cidre importé qui était vraiment intéressant par sa volupté et son côté minéral. Quand j’ai reçu mon ceviche de pétoncles aux agrumes, j’étais au ciel. Je me suis dit que je méritais un petit dessert puisque c’était ma fête, alors j’ai terminé tout ça avec la boule de pâte à biscuit frite. Dans l’assiette, ça ressemblait à une météorite qui venait d’atterrir, de la façon dont la boule était disposée sur la crème fouettée. La bouffe et le service m’ont conquis. Je me suis dit que si j’avais un restaurant, c’est exactement ce que j’en ferais: amical, sympa, bouffe délicieuse et sans prétention.

A random restaurant recommendation from a stranger on the street and I have 0 regrets. Amazing food, great service, and good beers & ciders! If I lived in the area, I would eat here for the rest of my life. Unfortunately, I was only visiting. The owner served us and he was an absolute pleasure! He also owns a place called Le Projet around the corner, both great places!
