Better late than never! Ever since I moved to Richmond Hill, Southbrook has been a staple for my family. After a beautiful fall drive up north I completed my journey with a trip to Southbrook. My friend and I walked in to the warm scent of baked goods… getting giddy as school kids on the idea of freshly baked pies. This year Southbrook set up a Roasted Corn, and food stand… brilliant idea in my opinion! We both decided on the corn and continued to wait in line… and we waited and waited and watched and waited. There was one boy there(who seemed to be in charge) working very hard speaking to customers, cooking and speaking to his team. His team on the other hand seemed to be confused and very scrambled?!(not sure why an egg reference seemed to fit this statement) The corn was sweet and definitely super yummy. We both decided to pick up baked goods at the counter. All the pies and tarts were freshly baked and my tummy instantly started rumbling. We grabbed 2 hot apple ciders which tasted like apple cinnamon heaven and continued to check out… we were pleasantly surprised when we found a baby kangaroo in the arms of an employee at the cash. At this point I did not want to leave and had fallen in love with the baby kangaroo. Overall my time at Southbrook brought back memories, put yummy food in my belly and I got a dose of utter cuteness … therefore my time spent there was perfect.

A great place to spend an hour or two with the kids. Lots of photo opportunities — I was impressed by the effort put into the displays. There is also a mini play ground where kids can romp around for free. There are a few gaming and ride stands and a huge bouncy house. There is a wagon/pumpkin express ride which costs $ 2 for an adult and $ 1 for a child. I think it will take you around their pumpkin patch. The place is relatively small but they do pack a lot into that small space. Admission is free, parking is free, the place is easily located — what more can you ask for? Oh, and check out their pies. I am NOT a pie person but my husband decided to pick up a caramel apple pie because he saw a woman buy 5. Well, I have to say I finished off half the pie by myself … the crust is buttery, the filling is sooo yummy … not sickeningly sweet like other pies I have tried. Oooh… I am thinking about that second half as I type this review.

This is meant for the Pumpkin Patch. We had a wonderful time here last Sunday afternoon. The farm is really easy to find with a huge parking area. There is no entrance fee which is great. because they have a mini corn maze, a tractor ride and plenty of places to see ghoulish things and take pictures with them. My son is only 1 and had a great time. We played quite a long time in between the pumpkins and through the Corn Maze. They have vendors selling apple pie, corn on the cob, apple cider and many locally grown veggies. There are carnival rides and games for older children and I could tell most of them were having a total blast. Definitely take your kids here!
