Can’t comment on the food because the service was so bad I had to walk out empty handed. I love bakeries I’m a carb junkie, but was overlooked, when I said something to the employee I received a rude snarky comment back. What made my experience worse was the fact that my 4 yr old daughter was with me. Shame on you Broadmoor bakery, my little girl just wanted a cookie.

So I finally found this place, after a few customers of mine tried to describe its location, and at last one gave me the actual name. Apparently this is a new location, I can’t say it’s a good one because it’s rather hidden on the inside corner of 90 bend in a road in the center of an outdoor shopping plaza. Anyway if you don’t live around the area you won’t know it exists. The shop itself is very nicely done, refreshing brown tones with stool window seating. Displays are new and clean, no critter in sight. The blinds keep the place nice and cool from the summer heat. Upon entering you’ll see that they seem like they specialize in practically everything baked, more sweets than savory. As the staff mentioned this bakery has been around for eons or 3 generations. Service is very good. I’m always in search of hidden gems when it comes to bakeries since supermarkets have been taking over. This one is half decent. Their pricing is very good(on par or better than supermakets — which already have great pricing but lack in quality). Variety is good, they make cookies, bread, scones, cakes, pies, tortes, and poundcakes etc. They are not your typical Vancouver bakery because they only have 1type of muffin and no cinnamon buns. That’s very acceptable because I assume they’re following their Dutch roots. I ordered the apple pie and Copenhagen. Where the food excels is its pastry, very sure it’s made in house, light, fluffy and has variation in texture(in the Copenhagen). The apple pie’s crust however, though homemade did not have much hint of butter, and the apple filling was a typical restaurant supply offering not unlike the supermarkets(wholefoods being an exception). The Copenhagen though interesting with the texture variation fell short in flavour of its custard. likely also because it’s restaurant supply grade and not homemade. I’ve not tried all the apple pies in Vancouver but to date, Westlynn bakery tops it– homemade crust and filling. For good custard– uh… the best one on Victoria Dr. just closed so I’m still searching. I’ll return to try other menus. Considering the very reasonable cost and freshness plus wide variety of goods this bakery is already ahead of most independent ones, but my search continues.

Perhaps the best local bakery around. A great range of breads, pastries, and treats. Special occasion and celebration items such as Valentine Cookies, Mother’s Day and Birthday Cakes, and Christmas Stollen. Their regular loaves are fantastic, too.
