We came here for dinner after our day trip from Seattle, we found the parking was so busy. We arrived at 7ish without any reservation and had to wait for 20 mins before we got the table. The restaurant was so noisy and service pretty slow. We had to waive the waitress over for ordering food and getting tea refill. We ordered some dishes for dinner. Salted free-range chicken — It’s tasted like fried chicken. Sweet and sour pork — it’s good but not great! Stir fried scallops with dry lily head — a bit oily and in small size. Steamed minced pork — Minced pork never hand-chopped and just fixed and steamed it. Pea shoots in broth — it was good. The dishes size in small portion and price reasonable too. Overall, the dishes were mediocre and poor quality of ingredients but good thing is not much MSG.

Went there for the first time few days ago because it was recommended to my friend. The food was ok but price is slightly on the high side. Parking as usual for the area is rather hard to find because it was lunch hour. Did not have to wait to get seated but the service was horrible. Almost as soon as we finished eating the waiter would keep asking whether we want to order more food. We said no and the waiter kept coming back for various reasons from telling us he will give us the bill(we didnt ask for the bill) to wanting to clear the tables. Basically the waiter did not attempt to hide is intent to get rid of us. It became very uncomfortable and we left quickly. I can understand if there is plenty of people waiting for a seat but at that time there was plenty of empty tables and there was no line. We all decided that we will never go there again.

overall good quality for dim sum, tasty not salty or oily. a bit on the high side for prices, not much difference for small medium or large. not much selection on steamed, most items near $ 5 or above, pricy $ 15+ for some kitchen items on lunch menu.

Food is great and the service is actually quite good! This place can get really busy at times and the parking situation here is pretty dire at best — plan on carpooling.

I came here for Dim Sum with a few of my girlfriends. We made a reservation at 11:30am on a Saturday but it didn’t get busy until 12:30pm. The parking lot was pretty packed through, since it’s shared with all of the other restaurants in that plaza, although here is street or neighborhood parking around too. This dim sum place has the check-sheet style menu. We ordered all of the classics but I was really sad they didn’t have 2 out of he 3 favourites of mine. No white flat rice noodles with beef and soy sauce and no sticky rice with Chinese sausage. I really can’t enjoy my dim sum without those items, truly a sad moment for me when I didn’t see it on the menu. However, shrimp dumplings, pork dumplings, fried glutinous dumplings with minced meat, chicken feet and meat balls were all there. The shrimp dumplings were good but kind of small and the skin was quite thin(I like them a little thicker). The pork dumplings were surprisingly delicious, being juicy and meaty. The crab and pork dumplings we had were really flavorful. Everything else was typical. Sadly, they ran out of black sesame egg tarts. I really wanted to try them, but I’m not sure if I want to come back for them. Service was nice when it wasn’t busy but once it started to get a little crowded, you could really feel them rushing you to finish and get out. Overall, the food was decent but definitely more expensive than other dim sum places in Richmond but still an okay place to go.

Pretty good food with mediocre service. Certain dishes were worse than before, but other dishes were delicious as usual. Number 1 tip: The captain who takes orders will always try to get your party to order the expensive items(usually seafood) that they make the most money off of. This might be the soup of the day(as I mentioned in a previous review), seafood, fish, etc. We made the mistake of listening to them and ordering their steamed shellfish appetizer things(I don’t know the English name, see pictures), $ 5.50 each. Not worth it at all. As in my previous review, the soup of the day is not worth it at all either. During our meal we can overhear the captain trying to get others to order the expensive $ making dishes. Don’t fall in his trap! I found that the food was pretty good, except for the raw fried sticky rice. We almost always get it, and this time, the rice bits were a little hard and the taste was not as tasty as before. Steamed shellfish appetizer: not worth $ 5.50 each, barely any taste, rather have scallops or crab or anything else haha. Half of a salt-baked chicken: juicy and tender as usual. Always a must-order for us. One of their more popular dishes. Pork chunks in sweet and sour sauce: Very popular dish here. Most tables ordered one. Pork bits were more fatty than usual, so it still tasted good but was lower quality. We will still be getting this and hoping for less fatty pork. Roasted squab: Very good and tasty. They don’t cook it too dry so it stays juicy and the skin is crispy. I could eat the whole thing. Choy sum in broth: Quite bland and nothing special. The broth tasted good on its own but the choy that was cooked in the broth was as if it was cooked in plain water first. Again, the service is nothing special. They are able to accommodate certain requests though, which is great. They could have cleared our plates more often. We’ll be back either way!

Came here for dinner with my family and the food was really spot on. The chicken dish we ordered was excellent. Every piece was moist and tasty. The pork belly dish(mui choi kuw yuk) was melt-in-your-mouth goodness. It takes about 25mins to make but definitely worth a try. We had fish and a tofu pot and they were also very good. Overall, the food was really good. The restaurant is quite small so I would make a reservation if you plan on having dinner here.

very reliable and high quality Cantonese food. I rank them best in Vancouver. Pricing is high but not by HK standard. Service is a generally slow but the quality of the food easily makes up for it. Unlike most Chinese restaurant, subject charges a corkage fee when you bring your own wine. I like the fried oysters, fried chicken dish, fan kuo and steam fish. As a word of advice, make sure you ask about the price of the fish and ensure the weight is acceptable to you.

The service here is so bad. Everyone doesn’t smile and is so rude. They all seem to be all smiles and nice to the rich customers who eat crab and lobster and drink wine at 11:30 am but if you just go for dim sum they can care less. The food is okay, the portions are small and it seems like MSG is out of the roof. Also when our food came we notice some things we didnt order and the guy marked random food in pen on our order sheet. Lol

This place is walking distance from my grandparent’s house. It has some solid good chinese food. The waiters know my grandparents so we definitely get special attention but even without that the food speaks for itself. I always walk out of here stuffed and satisfied.

I’m surprised there hasn’t been a review for Golden Paramount in over a year! I find it difficult to critique Chinese restaurants since their menus are endless — if there’s something you crave and it’s not listed, the chef can always make an exception and cook something up for you. This particular venue is a stellar establishment. I’ve been here twice and have always left satisfied and stuffed. The staff are friendly, talkative and always making sure you’ve a clean plate in front of you. The food is your typical Chinese cuisine but this particular restaurant maintains a level of quality. At other places, I’ve been served dishes that have been too salty or burnt but Golden Paramount has never put themselves in that grouping. Parking outside is shared with other stores along the same strip mall so it could be frustrating. Heed my warning.

My new favorite Chinese Restaurant. Authentic Chinese cuisine… try the sweet and sour pork. The pork is flaky tender and juicy and not rock hard. Ok so for the authentic Chinese dishes they stir fry milk with crab meat. Also worth trying is the whole sole(fish) prepared 2 ways. They fillet the flesh and stirfry while the bones(edible v. good actually) they deep fry like fried chicken except it’s fish bones. Underneath this is a full entrée worth of sweet Chinese veggies. Soup of the day is $ 10(good for 3 — 4 people) Fried chicken that is absolutely succulent(it’s called Salted Baked Chicken on the menu)

Since my Chinese family and friends frequent this establishment on a somewhat regular basis, I’ve had the opportunity to sample a wide range of dishes. Two disclaimers:(1) the prices aren’t cheap, but you do get quality food and service; and(2) like any Chinese restaurant that has an extensive menu that serves everything, you have to figure out which dishes are the good ones. From anecdotal consensus, Golden Paramount has one of the best BABAOYA(lit. «eight-treasure duck»). This dish, which you must order in advance so that they can prepare it just for you, consists of a deboned duck stuffed with eight ingredients(usually something like glutinous rice, shitake mushrooms, chestnuts, lotus seeds, gingko nuts, smoked ham, shrimp, pork), then gently braised for hours. On my last visit, we ordered Chinese FRIEDMILKWITHPAN-SEAREDOYSTERS. Note that this is not deep-fried milk, but rather more like a scrambled mixture of milk, egg whites, lump crabmeat and a handful of pine nuts or slivered almonds. It doesn’t taste like milk, nor does it quite taste like egg whites, but has an almost buttery texture that doesn’t overwhelm the crabmeat. The fresh oysters — which we substituted for the usual oyster-shaped tofu balls — were exceptionally well done. But they may have been a seasonal item. As with any finer Chinese restaurant, the trick is to develop a relationship with the manager(the guy in a black suit who darts around the room) so that he can recommend dishes to fill your stomach while impressing your palette. Tell him you don’t want regular white people Chinese food; that you want to try the chef’s more special creations, etc.
