Great high quality meats — grass fed. Great service too. You have to pay more, but it is worth it!

There’s nothing I like more than a good old meat and condiments deli and this place is chocked full of both. So much meat. So many condiments. It gets pretty busy in this tiny place so be ready for a little wait if you’re making delicious meat purchases from the counter. Cured meat lovers rejoice in the fact that they sell Biltong here for about $ 5 for a small bag. And it’s bloody delicious! Another great find for those willing to explore away from the tourist traps.

Well let’s not fall all over ourselves. It’s ok but not much more than that. The problem is the service is spotty. Chad is nice, as is Kevin but other staff can be moody and morose. Not always a pleasant experience. They never stand behind their product. Fly in your bread? Too bad, call Terra Bread, not our problem, good bye.

I came for the boneless beef ribs(pressure cooker, yum) and was impressed by how well trimmed they are and the fair price!

Chad is a doll, he was super informative and helpful as I visited Heringers for the first time yesterday. I left with some amazing food that I used for dinner last night and everyone was blown away. Super amazing food selection and SUPER customer service. I will be back. In fact, I“m going there now :)

When we found out about this place years back, they did not used to use bare hands to handle the meat then went back to touching the cashier the card and the cash. We should have just walk out and not go back again.

The outside of the store is amazing with character that you would see on the movies. Inside the smells tickled my nose of various Italian grocery fair from meats, pasta, condiments and pastries. The store was full and packed, however, well organized that you were overwhelmed but not discouraged. I finally found some decent Bacon bits. I am not into working with bacon of any kind and these were real bacaon bits and not the high sodium fake sh*t. This was the motivation I needed to finally make those maple bacon cupcakes that I have been talking about for months now. I also bought some mint sugar so that I can make some virgin Mojitos after a long hard day at work. I managed to pick up a present for the guy that I am dating for Christmas(yes I buy stuff that early). The guy at the til was really nice and chatty and at first he was thrown off my dark sarcastic dark humor, however, warmed up really fast. Prices are very decent.

Hey, I am a sucker for a good meat shop. Whenever we are in Steveston, this is a place we stop and get a couple of thick cut pork chops or spring creek beef in any form! The selection is always fantastic and the prices are really, really, good. That should be enough for any meat eater that wants great quality at a reasonable price. The staff is always friendly and never put out to talk to you about what they have to offer.

Ah yes, a butcher that rivals the best of ‘em in Vancouver… even better, I don’t have to make a long trek for it anymore. A great variety of organic pork and poultry, as well as Spring Creek beef options, the carnivore in you will be satisfied. Marinated goods are also for sale plus deli cuts for the sandwich aficionado. They have a decent selection of spreads, mustards, sauces and dry pasta. I could easily spend a hour drooling at all the fine eats they offer here. Service is impeccable and they are always friendly. Swing by Steveston for some fish and chips and load up on your meats here!

Have been very unhappy tiwice with this place. Bought butter there that was rancid with in a few weeks in the fridge and no refund was given. Never had this problem with ANY other unsalted butter. Talked to ‘Karen’ who said i should talk to the manufacturer! Another time bought their very expensive marinted rack of lamb; it was so sinewy that we could not cut through it. Again no offer of any compensation. Too bad they have kind of a monopioly on the meat biz in Steveston because their customer service is the worst!

Another great little shop in Steveston. For the people that live in this neighbourhood, this is probably and already your regular meat butcher. I especially like to come here in the summer times, when BBQ’s are always on the dinner menu or big family dinners that require meat. Even my mother who lives out of town likes to come here to get her sausages and roast cuts. Great choices, friendly service and pretty much anything to do with meats you can get it here. It’s a local flavour of the town of Steveston.

I love Heringers. Helpful, fabulous staff and a wonderful selection of meats. If you’re looking for something and don’t see it, just ask. They may have it in the back.

This is my favourite butcher. Oh, you need more? While I wouldn’t say they’re centrally located, being in Steveston Village is a nice treat. The area is fantastic though parking can be a pain. But the efforts of getting there are worth it. Chad and Kevin are very helpful, very friendly. Chad talks a lot. I KID! They know their stuff and are always ready to lend a hand. Their staff is phe-no-me-nal. Very attentive and friendly. Meats — they carry, polderside red-bro chickens(at least they used to), they get their ducks(from time to time), Berkshire pork, Spring Creek beef and have a tonne of fantastic marinated items — sundried tomato pork chops, bacon wrapped pork tenderloin, Rostbraten(as served at the Saxony house in the 2010 Olympics, thai ribs, maui ribs, house made spring creek burgers, etc. Other items they sell not really butcher like: locally made perogies, terra breads and a whole handful of fine quality pantry items like mustards, salts, spices, oils, etc. One thing they can improve on? Bring in some quality charcuterie. Oyama can’t be that hard to source. And cheeses too.

I know, I know … what could possibly be said about a butcher shop that might piqué your interest to the point that you would kill half a day and find transportation to travel south to where the river and the inlet meet in Steveston Village? Let me first apologize in advance for offending any vegetarians or those of you that are trying to reduce your carbon footprint and then give it a try: fresh, delicious cuts of meat, organic choices at prices unbeknownst to those of us in Vancouver proper, knowledgeable servers and butchers that know the details of cuts and the origin of the meats, specialty items that originate in France or the UK and are then carefully and lovingly raised locally and often organically. If you consider yourslef an omnivore(or a carnivore!?!) then Heringers is worth a drive south. They also make deli items on site and they offer a meatloaf that is unequaled. Meatloaf! There is an excellent selection of mustards and other condiments that are happy accompaniments for your selections of prime cuts and there are cheeses, smoked meats, various dips and dressings and treats to choose from. The favorites at my house include Berkshire Pork Chops and the Filet Mignon when nothing else will do. Heringer’s is a great place to do your shopping in preparation for a dinner party and a nice break from the regular shopping routine. In price comparisons, I haven’t found anyone locally that can compete with the quality for the same price.
