Tried the duck, bbq pork and chicken and must say other than the bbq pork the rest were just mediocre at best. However the BBQ pork is worth travelling all the way from East Van. It’s the best i’ve ever had in the Lower Mainland.

Quick take out or sit down place that offers a nice, simple and affordable Asian meal for 9CAD. They have a limited menu — roasted or bbq pork, hainan or soya chicken, roasted duck, soup of the day and 1 veggie dish. We ordered a combo plate with roasted duck, soya chicken and roasted pork and a plate of veggies for two ppl. Our combo plate came with soup too. We loved our dish– the meat was juicy and flavorful. This place was comparable to LA and OC restaurants and takeouts. Cash only Dine in– order at table, however, there is limited seating inside Take out — order at counter. Parking– parking structure.

Let’s just get this out of the way first: this is not fine dining! This is a tiny joint where you should NOT expect any kind of personal space from other diners or any pampering by the waitstaff. What you CAN expect, however, is absolutely fantastic BBQ and an experience so authentic you’ll wonder if you somehow stepped into Hong Kong. Note: this place is cash only! We wanted to try as much of the menu as our stomachs can handle, so we ordered the roast pork, BBQ pork, ginger chicken, BBQ duck, soup of the day, and green vegetables. All four meats had amazing textures and really good flavors. That crunchy rind on the roast pork! That caramelization of the BBQ pork! That crispy duck skin! That fatty tender meat on EVERYTHING! My favorite was the duck, and we happened to get the last order of it. When I overheard the server telling the next customers that it was sold out, I bit into a piece of tender, crispy, and flavorful duck and experienced a complex mix of emotions: sympathy, triumph, guilt, joy, and schadenfreude. Least favorite(but still enjoyed!) was the ginger chicken. It was both a little too salty and a little lacking in other flavors. The soup of the day was bok choy with pork, and just delightful. It was light and subtly flavored. The seasonal greens were yu choy, blanched and drizzled with oyster sauce. It tasted sweet and fresh. Both the soup and the greens complemented the fatty, rich meats perfectly, and served as wonderful palette cleansers while being legitimately tasty in their own right. I would highly recommend ordering at least one of them to balance the meal. The service was fast and efficient. Within minutes of ordering we received the soup and all four meats! Of course these items are all prepared ahead of time, but I was still impressed and pleased with the instantaneous service. Hungry bellies rejoice! The green vegetables, cooked fresh, took just a few minutes more and promptly joined the table. To top it off, this meal was super cheap. Everything came to less than $ 30 after tax. Definitely worth a visit!

Come here before its busy or wait in line. Dine in or take out. BBQ pork, soya chicken, roast duck, BBQ ribs, boiled chicken, roast crispy pork, veggies, soup. It’s all about choices. Choose a combo when dining in. Add soup for $ 2. You can eat a meal and be full for under $ 15, even under $ 10. My shopping buddy Edna loves combo #6. Always a busy atmosphere, feels like a Hong Kong BBQ shop. Service may vary. Depending on time or temperament !!

Solid 5 for HK style roast pork. Crispy skin every single time! Getting pricier but still one of the best in Richmond. Cha siu last time was warm! And that was a 6pm! Did they just make it? Giving them 4 stars because every time their BBQ duck was sold out. Dying to try it! They have lots of small tables for dine in as well. Consistent and a safe bet if you like HK Style BBQ meat.

If you’re looking for roasted duck, roasted pork or bbq pork, look no further. you’ve found the best spot for all 3! When I think of this place, I think juicy, finger-licking good. This place is as authentic as it gets, unless you’re trying to fly to HK. I debated whether or not to write this review since they’re already always busy, and the dining area is so tiny, but alas, as a lover of good food, I want to share this carnivorous gift with you. On the weekends, they often sell out of roast duck and roast pork by late afternoon. They accept cash only. Protip: get extra of the duck sauce to put on your rice :)

I’m going to have to go against the grain and write an average review for HKBBQ Master. I love Chinese BBQ. I’ve been to top BBQ spots in Canada, the United States, Hong Kong and more. The best places have juicy succulent meats that are so good that you dream about them. When we arrived at HKBBQ Master, the place was completely packed and the small seating area was completely full. A lot of people do to-go orders so I moved to the separate line for takeout and kept looking over the menu to decide what I wanted. Despite the long lines, it moves fairly quickly as the menu is simple and the BBQ items are really the stay. The staff is very efficient and are simultaneously taking orders, preparing takeout items, and serving the seated customers. They’re helpful if you don’t know Chinese and several people in line ordered in English. I understood that the roasted pork and the bbq pork were the most popular but it’s always nice to order a little bit of everything. Plus the chef was cutting BBQ meats like a machine and I just wanted to order more so that I could see him cut even faster. The combinations are served over rice, topped with a BBQ soy sauce mix and then topped with your choice of BBQ meats. I ordered a two meat and a three meat combination. Everything looked fantastic. Our meat choices: Roasted Pork — by far the best of the bunch. A few pieces had a nice ratio of fatty meat and were the most flavorful. A few pieces at the end were too lean and a bit dry. I almost wish that I had ordered a few more of the soy sauce to go(I think they charge 60 cents for each sauce extra that you want) because the dry pieces definitely could have used it. BBQ Pork — the next best type of BBQ here. Unfortunately, it was very lean and I probably should have requested a fattier cut, so that’s on me. As a counterargument, they charge extra for specifying cut type(ie: leg or wing) so I don’t know if asking for fattier is the same thing. Roasted Duck — roast duck is usually the easiest to get right as duck is very fatty and thus the meat tends to be all dark and not too dry. The version here was both dry and also not particularly flavorful. I was very surprised. Soy Sauce Chicken — I wanted to order the free range chicken but didn’t know how to say it so opted for the more common soy sauce chicken on the menu. They top every order of soy sauce chicken with ginger sauce and you can order extra containers of that at extra cost too. I really should have ordered an extra container because 1) ginger scallion sauce is awesome here 2) the soy sauce chicken really wasn’t flavorful enough. Overall, I can’t help but be very disappointed by the BBQ here. I could have gone at an off time, been given too lean a portion because I look like the type that likes lean meat, or just been unlucky. I had a much better experience at Delicious BBQ in Burnaby and I’ve read that there is another BBQ shop well loved near Parker Place. For all these places, the key is really consistency and I was hoping all the reviews here and lines out the door were going to ensure that, but I wasn’t impressed. Then again, maybe eating here or coming earlier in the day(I came late and didn’t eat it until a few hours later) had an effect. HKBBQ Master accepts cash only.

Really really good char siu. Has a kinda smokey flavor and is also very moist. Admittedly the fatty portion can get a bit too much after awhile. Best to stick to the lean. Roast duck is good too. Not as moist but still very tender meat. A quick in and out. Would love to come back.

Small, cramped, be quick to order, food: Awesome! Just like Hong Kong! Who needs to fly to HK when flying to Vancouver and going here is much cleaner and convenient. The duck and bbq pork is super flavordul, the bbq master earns his craft! Must eat if u r here… tucked in front of the Canadian superstore entrance. Get it to go and eat outside park benches if it’s sunny

Everything at this place is top notch, the chef takes a lot of pride in these meats and I don’t think theres a better place for Chinese BBQ. I drive from Vancouver, battle superstore parking crazies just to get the bbq on the regular. I see reviewers have some random experience and drop a good review to a poor one, I’ve been here dozens of time and once in a blue moon there’s a bit too much fat on one piece, I don’t eat that hunk of fat unless Im in the mood, my point is. Say your a beautiful person, perfect hair. then one day you get caught in a wind storm, boom, hairs outta place. people don’t say«that persons hair used to be better» and just dismiss them, no they wait till the next day and let the person return to hair form. Ok bad analogy, I had a point somewhere here.

We usually take our share to-go, since a line-up forms quickly around here. Come early, they do tend to sell-out. One little thing I dislike is how they make the most minimal number of cuts in the BBQ meats. Often, I have to further cut the larger pieces at home.

LOVELOVELOVE. their roast pork is absolutely delicious and not too fatty if you eat the meat and not the skin or the fat particles around it. The duck is average(nothing special) but still good. I actually adore the bbq pork because you can choose all lean and it made me so happy! The honey sauce made the whole dish not too salty either: D SUPER crowded for take out though, expect to line up for awhile…

I don’t know when it became a tradition that whenever we want Hongkong-style BBQ we’d come to this place. It’s not hard to understand why once you try its wide array of offerings such as the BBQ duck, roasted pig with its delightfully-crunchy crispy skin(a family favourite for sure), tender-sweet cha-siu pork etc… Besides take out, there’s a tight-seating area of about 20 people that you can order combo plates and eat-in. If you are not sure what to buy by the pound or whole, I’d recommend you try a few different combo dishes to get an idea of what stimulates your palette. Price is reasonable for the quality and do expect swift service. Cheerio!

I was in Richmond on vacation and a friend told me to try this place out. They said the roast pork was really good, so I went there to try for myself how good this place really is. Well, my friend’s recommendation didn’t disappoint. Their roast pork(siu yok) was excellent. The skin was so crispy and the meat was so tender and juicy with just the right amount of fat to create a flavour explosion in your mouth. We ordered take out and ate half of it before reaching our car. We went back a few more times since we can’t get this good quality of bbq in Las Vegas. Don’t expect much in terms of good service. The lines to buy the bbq is long, but it moves fairly fast. The employees behind the counter mean business, there is no pondering when you get to the front of the line to order. You better know what you want to buy as they can be very impatient and rude. But it’s roast pork is so good, that even the rude staff won’t stop me from going back for more. I haven’t tried any of their other meats, but it must not be bad, as others are ordering it up.

It’s been years since the last time i’ve been to HKBBQ Master. I was not disappointed. A friend and I shared the platter of BBQ Pork, Soy Chicken, and the Duck. the BBQ Pork and the Soy Chicken were incredible. Pork was sweet and meaty and the Soy chicken was so flavourful and tender! As for the Duck i wasn’t too impressed. I was hoping for a nice crispy skin and tender rich duck but it was in fact very dry today. Therefore I’m giving HKBBQ Master 4 stars. Don’t get me wrong the food here is incredible. Just look at the line they have out the door all the time! I also got a pound of the fatty BBQ Pork to go and while ordering that and another to go order things got confusing with our server. It was definitely a language barrier. But we made it out with the correct orders. Keep in mind this place is cash only. Luckily my friend found an ATM at the superstore. All in all if you wanna get your BBQ Pork fix this is the place to go. Until next time folks!

Reminds me of Hong Kong! I wish they had wonton noodle combos! This place is TINY! Can maybe sit 15 to 20 people MAX. The line is super long for take out and it is for a good reason! Came here on Canada’s Thanksgiving Day, so people were buying Chinese BBQ for dinner. So, maybe, the wait was a little longer than usual? Didn’t wait too long since there were only 2 of us. Got the roast duck and BBQ Pork(Cha Siu) combo and a plate of veggies with lemon ice tea. I have not had this legit of Cha Siu in a VERY long time! Defo reminded me of HK. yes it’s THAT good! The spoonful combo of cha siu rice and the perfect sauce was pretty much heaven in my mouth! They lagged a bit on our veggies, but it’s okay. the veggies were very sweet and we devoured it anyways! If it wasn’t for a great exchange rate the price is average, but to me it was definitely worth it. Can’t wait to come back! *drool*
For sure the best siew yoke(roast pork) and BBQ duck in Greater Vancouver. Location’s a tiny bit unconventional — it’s in a Real Canadian Superstore parking lot. Crunchy pork skin on top of layers of oily fat and tender meat; it’s a heart attack in like 5 slices, but so worth it. The less traumatizing option to dieticians everywhere would be the bbq duck, no gamey feel whatsoever. Service is brisk and minimalistic, don’t expect to be greeted with warm smiles and towels; it’s in-and-out and don’t get in their way, it’s cramped in there.

The best BBQ pork(char Siu) in greater Vancouver, hands down. The soya chicken is decent. The roast pork is very good. If you’re in a rush, I advise getting a take out order… sometimes the wait for a table is out the door. The good news, is that once you’re seated, the service is lightning fast. If I’m hosting a party, many times I’ll get their BBQ pork to go and serve it at my party.

Clogged my Arteries so Good You ever eat anything so good yet at the same time your feeling incredibily naughty? Maybe that’s the old guy in me talking. I need to have a talk with him… tell him to lighten up, take some Pepcid AC, throw on an episode of M.A.S.H., fix himself a nice cup of iced tea, and go to sleep at 8pm so that I can go live my awesome life without him bitching at me. Equivalent to Savoy Kitchen in LA If you’ve ever had the Hainan Chicken at Savoy Kitchen in Los Angeles you’ll like this. They are comparable in the simplicity, taste, price, and speed of delivery. Overall bang for your buck, and we all love keeping as many bucks in our pocket as we can!
