Food here was surprisingly good despite the expensive price here. The Sable was fantastic and everything we ordered was very good. Ribeye was very good as well.

We had a delightful dinner in the Jetside Lounge(not sure if it’s part of the bar or not) because we were bumped from a United flight and therefore we were able to stay in the hotel and eat at this restaurant with vouchers(we only paid the tip in cash for our GREAT server). We got the quinoa burger, veg pizza, and nachos, all of which were enjoyable and beautifully presented. The food was great, service was excellent, décor nice, couches comfortable, and view fantastic. It is a pricey place, but luckily not for us.

Very cool bar /lounge /restaurant(what combo, I’m still not sure) in the Fairmont Hotel YVR. I pulled up to the bar one night for a night cap. The gentleman that night was a cool dude, friendly and smooth. He mentioned a pretty good recommendation on I believe their bacon burger(casual spelling) with sweet puh-tay-toe or regular fries. It was a solid choice, kind sir, thank ye, thank ye. The vibe all up in here is pleasantly swish, modern and sleek. It’s also kind of neat how the bar rear peeks into the elevator corridor. I do admit those drab gray bar seats are so0Ooo Saved By The Bell, je regrette. Good staff, food – OH, and the Fairmont Honey Lager was also delightful! Bottom footer: My beer palette is steering in the lagers, lighter ales and light-medium pilsner directions. Sweet!

I saved review #200 for one of my favorite cocktail bars in the lower mainland. My parents love staying in Fairmont hotels, so I’ve been to my fair share of Fairmont hotel bars in the past 6 years. All of the Fairmont bars I’ve been to are elegant, cozy, and have a great drink menu. None, however, equal the amazing view that you get at the Jetside Bar at the Fairmont Vancouver Airport. If you’re lucky enough to get a table by the window, you’re treated to views of gorgeous mountains and planes taking off(two of my favorite sights!). I’ve always found the service here to be pretty good. When you’re seated, they bring you a small bowl of mixed nuts, and sometimes they’ll bring you dried banana chips. The cocktail menu is where this place shines. They carry a wide variety of signature cocktails from Fairmont hotels all over the world, plus a wide variety of cocktails invented in-house by the bartenders. They have a honey based cocktail that is out of this world. I know the cocktails are quite pricey(~$ 14/drink), but the majority are doubles and the flavour combinations are fantastic. They also have a great selection of beer, ports, red, and white wines. They also have a menu full of appetizers and dinners. All of the food I’ve had here has been pretty good. They also have free wi-fi, if you’re looking for a quiet work space in the airport. Another perk: if you spend $ 25.00 on your food/beverage bill, you get a free Canada Line ticket per person. They say on their website it’s a two zone pass, but when we went last time we got 2 day passes. Considering the added surcharge of $ 5.00 if you buy a transit ticket at the airport, any free transit pass is worthwhile. I absolutely love this place, and if you’re in the airport(or looking for somewhere new to go for drinks), it’s worth the trip down here. I will most definitely be back.

DISHONESTWAITRESS!!! WAITRESSPOCKETEDOURCASHANDCHARGEDTHEFULLBILLAMOUNTTOHOTELROOM!!! We stayed at this hotel after the airlines delayed our flight until the following morning. We were starving so we went to the lounge to have some dinner and drinks. Service was fine and everything until we left our cash for the bill. The waitress picked it up and walked off with it, we said keep the change, she thanked us and we left. The next morning as we go to check out, we see the full amount of the bill has been charged to our room. We went downstairs and spoke with the front desk people who pulled the receipt from the night before. The manager said the receipt showed no cash had been left. We were irate obviously as we spent a decent amount of money in there. The manager said they would investigate it further with the waitress and call us within 24 hours. We waited for almost 5 days and nobody called. We called them, they basically told us the same story, the waitress said there was no cash left in there, there’s nothing they can do about it. So now of course we have to dispute the charge with the credit card company. What a joke. Word of advice to anyone else who goes here — DONOTSPENDCASHFORYOURBILL. Charge everything so there’s a record for it and they can’t steal your cash for themselves and double charge you.

This review is for the new afternoon tea that the Fairmont YVR is offering. You wouldn’t think you could have such a lovely experience at a busy airport. I had called ahead to make reservations and had a few dietary substitutions which were accommodated with no problems. I also asked if I could have a airplane shaped cookie which was on the kids menu, I mean how cute is that– airplane shaped cookies! When we arrived the table was all set up for tea, including tablecloth. Our waitress (I think her name was Sam??) was just wonderful, did a great job of explaining the different sandwiches. And she acknowledged right away the dietary changes, which a lot of places don’t and I always have to remind them. All the food was delicious and then at the end they give you a little package with some of the tea you drank to take home. I’d say this is really a 4.5 star tea. I have done 4 Fairmont teas in BC– Hotel Van, Empress and Château Whistler and I would say this beats the Hotel Vancouver and Empress hands down. And probably ties with Château Whistler.

Hotel bars are not my thing but this one I will readily seek out anytime I’m at YVR. Located inside the Fairmont Vancouver Hotel, the bar has a great view of the departure gates. For someone who loves to watch planes, it’s awesome. The drinks are very good. SIgnature drinks are inventive and tasty. A Jack and gingerale comes with a small decanter of gingerale. It’s a perfect, decadent sanctuary from the noise and tumult of delays and regular terminal activity.

Picture this: Massive storm, many flights delayed. So delayed that they aren’t letting you check in and clear through security until you have a confirmed flight — so no access to the airline lounges which are all after security. Add a bunch of crazy tourists that are all stressed out about the delays that are camping out everywhere with all seats taken, and no place to get a little peace of mind while waiting out the delay. Don’t want to turn around and go home because it probably will clear, but it just isn’t clear when. The last time this happened to me during a bad storm, I snuck away to one of my favourite secret spots in the Vancouver Airport — the Jetside Bar. Here is how to get there: Walk to the U.S. departures check-in area. Find the little escalator that says«Fairmont» and walk through the Fairmont Vancouver Airport lobby to the Jetside Bar. This is a little oasis in the pre-security area that not too many people seem to find. They’ve got nice big comfortable chairs, views of the runways, and a passable bar menu for an airport lounge. But most importantly: It wasn’t crowded and was pleasantly calm. A welcome eye in the storm! Ahhhhh…Thank you Fairmont!
