Stumbled on this place while going to the community centre right across the street and just wondered why hadn’t I found this place long ago?! But anyways the next day I ordered take out for lunch from this place and after reading and viewing all the reviews on Unilocal about this place and seeing what’s popular I had to give this place a try for myself. I decided to order the most popular item which was the curry beef brisket which there were a bijillion of photos of. I got the large size, seeing how usually curry is a bit small but the size didn’t disappoint after opening it up. My first initial scoops of the curry and covering my bare white rice all over with the sauce and grabbing a few chunks of the brisket, the first bite was amaze-balls. The curry was delicious, it was creamy yet not too thick. It wasn’t too watered down to the point where the taste is gone and there was good taste and flavor. I wish it were a bit more spicy instead of it just being hot then it would probably be perfect. The beef brisket was ultra tender and soft. Especially with the curry sauce and it being submerged in it, it definitely gives it more tenderness and time to soften a bit more and soak up the flavors. First initial experience was pretty damn good for a place that goes a bit unnoticed from alot of people since it’s not facing a main road therefore you cannot see it unless you turn onto a side street. The curry is probably one the best curries I have ever eaten and I can’t wait to go back and try the other items they have to offer.

Good place to go to for a quick lunch. The fare is rather simple and you pretty much get what you paid for. It’s nothing amazing but it’s a great place to go to for a snack or a bowl of noodles on a cold day. You should definitely try the wonton noodles or come here during the afternoon because the afternoon combos are great. You can get a bowl of noodles and a drink for less than $ 9

Poor service from the waiters. They don’t even care to greet or extend any courtesy. One waiter just dropped the food and went away without even checking whether we had any plates. She never returned and I had to call another for plates. The food was not very good either. Certainly won’t recommend based on my experience.

After posting a short review about Mui Garden on Zomato, I was craving their Beef Curry again, so decided to have it for dinner. Mui Garden is a Hong Kong style café that has different types of Chinese(more like Cantonese), Malaysian and Singaporean dishes. I used to get their Beef Curry only, but today I wanted to write a more detailed review so ordered some more. So for my b-i-g appetizer, I got their one of signature dishes Hainan Chicken(Whole $ 25, Half $ 13.50) — 4.0÷5.0. It was my first time trying this type of chicken. Unlike its plain looking… it tasted amazingly good. The meat absorbed the sauce very well, and the meat was somewhat chewy and soft at the same time. Hainan chicken tastes even better with the dipping sauce — fresh ginger, scallions and vegetable oil as the base. Their Chicken Rice — 4.0÷5.0 is pretty good too. It’s basically the long grain rice cooked with chicken broth. It’s just as aromatic as the chicken. Pan Fried Sliced Beef and Rice Noodle($ 10) — 3.5÷5.0 had more beef slices than the noodles! They are really generous when it comes to the portion. Not too oily and the noodle wasn’t too soggy. The bean sprouts were still crunchy. Nicely cooked. Finally, my favourite dish Beef Brisket Curry($ 12.50)! — 3.5÷5.0. I’d given this dish 4.0÷5.0 but today their curry was too salty to the point I was thinking of putting some water in it… I wish no one tries their saltier version of the beef curry seriously. When it’s properly cooked(usually they are!) it tastes amazing! It’s very creamy and rich in flavours with huge chunks of beef briskets and potatoes. This type of curry(I guess Malaysian) doesn’t have strong, pungent smells or spices so I can enjoy even more. This dish contains a lot of fatty coconut milk so you would get easily full. I finished a half still. Overall, it was very satisfying lazy Saturday dinner. I almost danced while eating. I am going to finish the rest of the chicken if I get hungry tonight — I will be. PROS + Their food tastes really good and seems very authentic too + A variety of food + When you crave either Malaysian, Cantonese or Singaporean dishes just go to Mui Garden + Very generous portion at cheap prices CONS — Beef curry today wasn’t too good. so sad! Somewhere between 3 and 4 stars. It’s a classic HK style restaurant/diner. All the favorites. Depending on what you order, it can be decent to very delicious. Don’t be expecting anything out of the ordinary. It’s very traditional, classic Canto style dishes. For the price and what you get, it’s pretty good. However, I didn’t find it spectacularly good, just above average.

We were ´lost´ in Steveston, it was late in the afternoon and we did not wanted to eat fish&chips, so I decided to call a friend for recommendation. He asked if we like curry. The parking on the roof surprised me. Although, Mui Garden is Chinese& Malay restaurant we found it quite interesting and attractive. Of coarse, we tried out the curried beef brisket(mmm was good!), skewers(nice peanut sauce) and the sweet&sour soup(was good but very spicy for me). We also took a mango milkshake for the combo. We´ll come back!

Been a few times over the years but this is the first time I chose to come here on my own accord. Clean and spacious Relatively cheap Lots of menu items Word of mouth is the beef brisket curry is a signature dish. Its a cream based curry and the brisket was well cooked and had tender brisket. For those people that don’t like spicy, this is a mild curry you could try out. Its a decent curry but didn’t have the kick I was hoping for. I encurryage you to try it if you like mild curries. I, however, plan on adding hot sauce to today’s leftovers. I think its a decent solid curry outside of that. I’d come back… for other dishes I think.

The roti with curry was indeed very good. For a HK café, the service was pretty typical(not amazing but stuff gets done). I enjoyed the pineapple chicken fried rice and the portion size was perfect. Unfortunately the HK milk tea didn’t taste as good as my first visit and that is the crux of a HK café. The prices are reasonable and only cost $ 22 after tips. The waitress taking our order also downsold us. Since we ordered 3 things, we were ordering 3 drinks to try out their bubble tea. However she said we can just order the roti with curry by itself. This saved us $ 1.50 plus another $ 1 for the bbt. I guess this was a good gesture since we were on the fence about trying bubble tea anyways. I’d rate this restaurant 3.5 and their kindness bumps it up to a 4.

If you’re not too picky and are looking for decent eats for a cheap price, this place is it. I love their afternoon menu, it’s around $ 4 — $ 7 and you get an entrée with a giant bowl of soup. I recommend their Shredded Chicken Pineapple fried rice, the flavor is strong and savory. Not a spot for romantic eating as it gets pretty loud, but it’s a great casual snack place for a few friends to get together if you’re on a budget.

Just love the curry beef brisket! I love Mui Garden! It’s a very causal place but the curry is the very Best in town! If you love curry come here! I think this place is part of a chain of Mui Gardens. There are like 3 of them in greater Vancouver.

Wow, I tried to order food over the phone and got the worst service ever when I asked to clarify how many people a tub of curry would likely feed. She gave alot of attitude and was complaining«how would I know, I don’t know how much you eat, so What do you want now?»

Had their house special Hainese chicken rice and it was decent. Quick and good for the price you pay. It’s a good meal when you don’t know what you want for dinner and want something lite.

3.5 Stars. I found it so hard to review this restaurant because I felt that my experience here was better than a lot of the Chinese cafes but honestly, it wasn’t anything special. The food at Mui Garden is prepared with fresh ingredients and the restaurant itself is very clean and spacious. The staff are fairly polite and everything comes out quickly as well. Their classic dishes like the beef brisket curry on rice or their cheap toasted sandwiches are good, but I feel like they just aren’t for me? I mean, it’s a great deal because there are specials where you only have to add a dollar to get a bubble tea, but the food isn’t actually that cheap if you want to get full and I honestly have to say that I wouldn’t come back too often even though I live quite close by. I actually found my pork chop bun quite disappointing since the french bread was far too hard and chewy while there wasn’t enough filling to justify the amount of bread that was given to me. The fries were excellent though and tasted like the ones that you can get at the costco cafeteria. Anyways, come here for the curry but don’t expect too much out of the other dishes!
