Awful service. Took forever for a server to take our order. When we went to pay, they said they couldn’t split the bill for us nor could we pay with different cards. We said we were able to do it last time and the lady who seemed to be the owner said we couldn’t today. She asked why we had to pay with so many cards? We said we didn’t have cash but just left it at that. As we were leaving, someone from our party gave cash to the person who paid. The lady who cashed us out said, «see you guys have cash» in a snotty tone.

Had a good meal here today. Ordered up a bunch of dumplings. I can now say that after eating here enough times that the dumplings all kind of taste the same to me. To be fair, they have a great selection of dumplings, but they’re regionally specific to one location of China. So for all the variety they have, divide that by four or five groups and that’s what it comes down to. Steamed, panfried, your choice of meats and veggies. Still. I really like what they have. It just seems the same after consuming three or four of them. Green beans we had were nice and spicy. Black fungus side dish was as good as it was the first time here. They add more green, red, orange peppers in this dish than other restaurants would use. The clams were solid(except for a few that still had sand in them. They need to learn to soak them in with corn meal.) The first time I had these was with My gal pal. Black bean sauce. Onions and peppers. Much better dish than compared to the place in Steveston. Much better price! Fresh Tofu with green onion dish didn’t look at all like the picture. Felt a bit ripped off when it doesn’t match the pic. Maybe different cook? Flavour was bland but a bit different than other times. Something was missing. Still, again, I liked it. Most of the dishes, our server was able to help me figure out what was good in English. My Chinese is so bad they always tell me to order in English. So if you don’t speak Chinese, they can help you figure out what to order. Overall, I give them a 3 stars which is decent. The only negative thing is the parking which totally sucks during peak periods. Best to come before the rush!

They’re called dumpling king for a reason! Delicious steamed, boiled or fried dumplings available to choose from. Note, this is different to dim sum and Xiao long bao if that’s what you’re looking for. We’ve been here twice now and always walk out incredibly full and satisfied. The dishes are large, family style. But the dumplings are so good you can’t help but want more. Reminiscent of my visits to China. All the other diners were Asian, which is a sign of good, authentic cuisine, the menu is in Chinese as well and the servers first language isn’t English. It’s an interesting experience in the sense that you forget you’re in Vancouver for a moment. There’s certainly an interesting array of food to choose from, all quite traditional looking, and while I’m not that advenutous, those looking for such dishes as jelly fish, sea cucumber and more, needn’t look much further. I, myself shall stick to filling the table with large baskets of steamed dumplings! Easy to get a table, if dumplings are what you crave, then head on over!

I was in my car and ready to go home when I realized the manager was chasing after me. They told me I didn’t pay I told them I did and they told me I didn’t pay enough tips In all honesty I was missing just a few cents(a Nickel or a dime, but who is counting ?) well, apparently they were, and I was just a little bit under 10% Sure, it’s my fault but chasing after a few cents left a bad taste in my mouth

TBH, this is a place serves the most authentic northern Chinese dishes in town. if u dont like the food here, that only means u dont like authentic Chinese food. if u like sweet sour chicken ball or general tao chicken kind stuff, it s not the place for u.

The dumplings are not bad here. Of course the name says it all. The menu is very interesting. They have pictures for all dishes on the menu. We ordered the fish dumpling, the veggie and pork dumpling, the famous egg, veggie and shrimp fried dumpling and potato with beef tenderloin. the food is not bad. it sounds like a lot for 12 dumplings on one plate, apparently its small dumpling. The fish dumpling melted in my mouth. Yummy! This place is quite bright and yes its super busy. The reason why we decided to dine here was because we passed by it many times and had found the right time to really try it. We came pretty late so we got a seat without waiting. When I say late it was 7:30. So if you don’t want to wait show up after 7:30.

Only people from the origin source of the cuisine style, that is, Shenyang, Liaoning Prov., China know how good they are. It’s *EXACTLY the same* taste as in China, could be even on the top notch in direct comparison with most cuisines made in China. As far as I know the top chef is from The Spring Deer, one of the most famous restaurants in Shenyang, which has started business from 1929 and created the entire Northeastern Chinese cuisine style. The profile of chef’s original restaurant is here: Frankly, their dishes can make everyone from Northeastern China feel deeply nostalgic, including their services. Yes I know as their service seems«terrible» according to the western standards, but as a perfect replica from former Manchurian territory, that is the style — straight, frank and rough. Try to make friends with the boss in that way, you can get more than you expect from the dishes. That’s why we love the restaurant, and that’s why we love our homeland.

Terrible rude slow service, small dumpling selection considering that’s their signature dish. Had better dumplings at Aberdeen food court. And they gave us the wrong change and took tip off table before we were ready. Never coming back here again!

Slow service, small portions… And it came out one item at a time. For a party of 12, too slow

I love dumplings. I was highly anticipating my first visit to this restaurant which claims to be «Dumpling King» as their name suggests. However, I think I was disappointed with every aspect of this place other than the fact that they have nice plates and a very polished menu printed with high-quality colored photographs of their dishes on every page. Dumplings — lacked the«pocket of hot broth» that one would find made by a true dumpling master(if the restaurant wasn’t called that I would’ve given some slack) — pork was fatty, mushrooms didn’t have much flavor — there were at least 6 – 7 dumplings out of the 12 that were broken(skin), which is unacceptable if you call yourself the dumpling king Other dishes — ordered some steamed buns which looked completely different from what the photograph showed on menu — fried noodles were quite good in flavor but noodle texture is worst than what you would find at a Chinese food court — tea was just some cheap tea-bag tea Restaurant — saw a fruit fly AND mosquito trying to attack our food — we went at a time close to the closing hour and before we even finished paying our bill, they shut off a portion of the restaurant’s lights(while there were other guests still eating) Service — our server was not bad, but I saw a server at another table who was leaning over a short wall/divider to take their order and not right in front of the guests at their table Don’t be fooled by their restaurant name or their nice-looking menu.
