The restaurant was about 30% capacity and the order took more than 30min wait time. There was zero service, and staff do not speak much English either. Unlike the Pearl Castle on Sexsmith Road, my experience here was: less service, and the same dish that that I tried at the other Pearl Castle tasted flavorless here! I definitely do not recommend this restaurant, drive a bit further and go to the one on Sexsmith instead!

This place has pretty terrible service but I’ve come to expect that from Chinese restaurants, impossible to hail down a server but the food does come promptly I ordered the popcorn chicken(idk why a Taiwanese place would call them chicken nuggets ^^”), wintermelon tea with pearls and meat sauce noodles. The food did taste pretty authentic and everything was tasty and not too salty. The wintermelon tea was a bit watered down but it was still very good. Prices were a bit on the high side for Chinese, I spent $ 21 on the 3 items, but it is in Richmond centre

Horrendous service with ill-mannered, temperamental children passing themselves off as «waitresses». Disgusting disrespect for their customers. DONOTCOME.

Average food and price. Two stars is for bad service. When we arrive, lots of table available, sign says«please wait to be seated»…line started bulding up and yet nobody there to attend to the people waiting. Its not like they are busy but they just chatting at the other side of the room. We waited for another 15 mins. Or so which felt like forever if you’re hungry. Not a big place but its clean and average ambiance.

I come here very often when I’m chilling with friends around Richmond. They have a decent selection of bubble teas and the menu has a lot of variety. Everything comes in big portions for a low price. I could see how people can see the staff as a bit unresponsive, but it really isn’t that much worse than other casual asian diners — just use the age old asian method of holding up your hand to get their attention and wave someone over. I give it a 5-star not because the food, drinks, or service is anything special, but because it’s definitely one of the best places I’ve ever been to for this price.

This place generally has some pretty poor service(usually slow and unresponsive), but sometimes you just need some Pearl Castle in your life. The food is pretty much the run of the mill Taiwanese fare, but they do it well enough that it is worth it to come here every once in a while(also it’s super convenient — located in the mall with ample parking around). My favourites generally revolve around some form of fried chicken dish covered in sauce(nuggets, spicy crispy fried chicken, lemon chicken… they do good chicken). Their noodle soup bowls are also pretty good, and combos come with various sides and dessert(aka jello cups!). Pricing is decent, so you can’t go wrong there either.

Unpretentious and pretty much exactly what you’d expect. Very large portions for the prices(mostly under $ 10) and exciting flavors all over the menu. The staff is quite friendly and attentive on filling water, taking orders, etc. I had the Taiwanese beef noodle soup and it was quite satisfying on a rainy afternoon. It may have made me sick though… the only reason for the lack of five stars. The hotpot dishes are also excellent!

Red rice fermented barbeque pork is very good. Crowded most of the time.

Convenient location inside Richmond Centre mall. I’ve been here multiple times before for meals as well as snacks & bubble tea. Overall, above average tasting drinks(I like the Jasmine Green Milk tea, and the Date & Longan hot tea), decent tasting food, and decent service here. Solid option for Hong Kong /Taiwan style bubble tea café food and drinks.

It was Pirate Pack Day at White Spot so 2 friends and I decided to go the White Spot(in Richmond Centre) and have dinner and make a donation to kids… Turns out lots of other people had to same idea. When we got to the White Spot the line up was out the door. As an alternative plan we decided to hit Pearl Castle in the mall. I’ve been to this Pearl Castle many times and to me it’s beginning to show it’s age. NOT like a fine wine restaurants/café do not get better with age! Owners have to throw money at the problem! They have to invest to maintain a new looking and fresh image. The food and service at Pearl Castle is ok. Pretty good in fact it’s just the interior is beginning to look a bit run down. Compared to their other Richmond location this restaurant is in sore need of an upgrade. I hope the owners have the same thinking as me!

I came here once and will not come again. Terrible food service staff act like they don’t give a shit. I placed order and waited 50 minutes for food brought to my table. Oh yeah I didn’t come for the food, I came here to buy furniture.

Worse bubble tea, overly sweet, overly priced, rude staff, barely any English. My whole bubble tea experience was ruined. I had to throw it away ’cause it was a cavity assault. I am disappointed that a bubble tea place in Richmond can be this bad, however, there is a first for everything. I wanted this to be my go to place, especially since it is close to the train station.

First off i would like to state if there is a award for No-service then Pearl Castle will win the award. For their service is non-existence. Slow and the food was brought up at different times. The food was decent but was a little bit too salty for my taste. However, price was cheap.(You get what you pay for). Bubble tea was good surprisingly. The bathroom was not working as it seem somebody had to go number 2 and toilet could not flush. GROSS!!! Pros — good décor, the hotpot bowl and stand was cute, bubble tea was good Cons– no service, slow, toilet was not working Conclusion — might repeat since its convenient and the food was worth the cheap prices

No matter how bad the service is, I will somehow always come back to Pearl Castle. I think it’s because its in the mall so it’s convenient plus it’s one of the only Taiwanese restaurants near RC. That’s probably the reason why the place is always busy. I have to say Pearl Castle has one of the worst services for any Asian restaurants especially when it’s busy. Also, the servers tend to have a hard time understanding my orders. I usually point the item out on the menu to avoid miscommunications. Besides the service, the food is good. I usually get fried tofu, fried oysters or green apple milk tea(hot) with coconut jelly. PC fried rice is really good and a lot of my friends love it. Would I come back? Yea, that’s cause I always crave for their green apple milk tea. The only down side is the service unfortunately!

SLOWSERVICE. Whether it’s a sit down meal or just a cup of bubble tea to go– expect to wait forever. Only good thing about this place is its location in Richmond Centre. Food is average, nothing to write home about, especially in the area where there are tons of other Taiwanese food options.

3.75 stars. I came here in early January with three other dining mates on a Saturday. We were the first ones to arrive. We were greeted warmly. The seats were comfortable and the place looked clean. The menus given to us looked clean too. I ordered a mini vegetarian hot pot, honestly not knowing what to expect in the pot. One ordered a seafood milk pot, the other cod in black pepper sauce with ricee, and the last one a mini chicken hot pot. Not long after we ordered our food came simultaneously. My vegetarian hot pot was surprisingly good. The soup base was(vegetable) sweet and had depth. It wasn’t just a quick boil of vegetables with water. I felt they took the care to make a vegetable«broth». There was a good amount of Taiwanese cabbage, pumpkin, tofu, oyster mushrooms, carrots. I asked for only half a bowl of rice and I was stuffed to the point of passing out. The seasoning was bang on. It wasn’t bland or salty. My dining mates said they enjoyed their food as well. I can’t comment on the beverages as I didn’t order any. I do enjoy the small packaged jello as dessert — their signature gesture. By the time we left the place was packed with people lining up at the door. Early birds get the worms.

Didn’t even get a chance to try their food or drinks. Why? We stepped inside the restaurant and no one greeted us. Finally, after about 3 minutes, we had to ask if we should sit ourselves or wait to be seated. We were finally escorted to a table in the middle of the restaurant. Another 10 minutes go by with no menus and no water or tea. This was on a Friday night around 11pm and the place wasn’t even packed. So, this review is strictly based on the complete lack of service. Needless to say. they won’t be getting my business anytime soon.

Honestly, the food wasn’t too bad, but the service here is unhygienic and licks. Someone brought a pet dog in the restaurant and it was climbing on the tables and such. I know that there is a bylaw prohibiting dogs in restaurants, but the staff did nothing about it. I like dogs. Just not when they are in places where food is publicly served. Guess what. The staff didn’t clean the table where the dog was either. Gross.

Had no idea this location existed at all until now. It’s tucked away in a far corner of the mall that you’d never see unless you were hanging near the Bay. It’s on the NW corner of the mall. Parking is no problem here. Plenty of space. As with the other location, this place is full of parents taking their tween kids, and highschoolers and undergrads. As a result, the noise is noticeably louder. I had the Strawberry Calpis. This was actually quite good. Better than what I expected. Actually what really made this drink was the chunks of strawberries at the bottom. Reminded me of Red Robin’s strawberry lemonade. The staff here were not the most efficient. Several times it took a few minutes before they even looked in my direction, even when I was waving my arms. As a result, I prefer the other location.
