Time of Visit: Dinner on August 19th Order: Crab and pear appetizer, Four Cheese fondue, Blue Cheese fondue(this was also a mixture of 4 cheese but all a type of «blue» cheese), and the Chocolate fondue Pros: Best fondue I have ever eaten, wait staff Cons: A little on the expensive side, minimal selection of desert fondues Thoughts: To start off I want to point out that the negatives mentioned above are really minor sticking points and should not be thought of as reason not to eat her but more as considerations when planning your trip. While you could eat cheaper that we did, and you could certainly increase your bill exponentially(especially if you order wine), we fell somewhere in the middle. Since I took my brothers and sisters we didn’t order any wine and we decided to eat«family style» and just share everything. We order an appetizer(everyone got a bite or two), two cheese fondues, and a desert fondue, and the final bill with a 20% tip came in at around $ 95US dollars and we were all full enough. If my wife and I went alone, got 2 glasses of wine and skipped one of the cheese fondues you would probably be looking at around $ 80 – 85. So while you do need to be prepared to spend a little it certainly won’t break the bank. I also did call out their minimal selection of desert fondues as their really isn’t one. You can either have chocolate fondue or a non-fondue desert; I really would have liked to have an option of dark or milk chocolate, maybe even an white chocolate option. I will say the chocolate fondue was truly exceptional. My wife said it was the best fondue she has ever had and the winner of the meal, and this is coming from someone who has had fondue in Switzerland several times so I’m one to believe her. Now on to the great points, and there are a lot so I’m going to try and keep it short. The pairing of pear and crab meat was both surprising and delicious. The pear was juicy and not hard at all, while the crap tasted wonderful; the pairing of the two was a really good appetizer and got us excited for the rest of the meal. From there we ordered two different cheese fondues, one was a blue cheese based fondue, and the other was what cheese based fondue. Both of them were served with chunks of bread and they were the best cheese fondue I have ever had. They were both just amazing, but you could taste the difference in cheeses. This is where most lower quality cheese differs, they tend to taste similar, not here. The blue cheese had that bite too it, while the white cheese has a smooth creamy texture. Each person at the table had their own favorite but everyone agreed it was fondue done right. We wrapped up with a cheese fondue, served with fruit and marshmallows. While I already mentioned that I would have liked to see more variety the chocolate itself was the perfect balance of dark and milk chocolate. It had the mildly bitter taste of dark chocolate while maintaining the silky consistency of milk chocolate. The wait staff here was also of note, they spoke wonderful English and provided and fantastic dinning experience that could easily have been lessened by a dull waiter. This is absolutely the best fondue I have every had and I wish everyone I know could dine here. While you can never really go wrong with cheese there was something really remarkable about what they did to make their fondue. If you happen to be in Quebec, and you like cheese go here; if you have never had fondue(or good fondue) go here; in fact, if you happen to be in Quebec, just go… and dunk a piece of bread in delicious cheese for me.

Perfect! Came on a Monday evening, it was too quiet for my two daughters, so we ate on the patio outside, and it was amazing. Not too busy, so we enjoyed everything from the 4 cheeses fondue all the way to the maple sugar fondue for dessert!

My family has been enjoying fondue dining here for many years. A visit to Quebec City is incomplete without a night of dining at La Tyrolienne and if we are fortunate we get there twice a year. There is nothing cozier than a snowy February vacation night enjoying Fondue Chinoise by their fireplace. Having enjoyed these same favorites In Zermatt, Switzerland, we can vouch for the authenticity. Deserts include maple and chocolate fondues, an assortment of tartes and maple crepes. The owner, Michel Moreau always takes good care of us and is very personable when confirming our reservation. Plan on a very relaxing meal lasting several hours.
