I always drove by this place across the road from Costco On Warden Ave & Ellesmere(appx). just a brick boring factory type of building — no windows– but i love painting, so was curious. finally this year decided to pull into the side of the building where what appear to be loading docks were. and walked into the front door– it doesn’t look like a store, looked kind of like a school’s supply room which was kind of interesting because it was less about price more about ooh i like this color and this brush. just fed the creative side — the prices are visible but just displayed sort of differently than the way a DeSerres would. I picked a few brushes from the brown #‘d boxes in the school supply room err. shop, and wasn’t entirely sure where to pay because there aren’t cash registers like a regular store, but i observed an older gentleman whom the female employees knew by name(the ladies sat behind a desk like in an office) as he purchased his art supplies and told them about his next exhibit. It was cool to see a person who has made an income painting, shopping here. when i went to pay I gushed about how I always saw this place and never had the nerve to go in — they were very pleasant and since I had never tried their paints before, she asked me to pick myself a tube of oil paint to try for free. :) Also if you’re a student you get a discount! i consider myself a student of life ! no proof was requested of me– but maybe next time. FYI. Overall the prices were fair. the colors don’t fade– they are very pure /vibrant paint colors and from the sounds of it, alot of good artists trust this place and the quality of these products. I’ll go back.
