We were looking for a good Chinese restaurant to order from. I looked on Unilocal and saw some good reviews so decided to try Good Buddy. I was not disappointed. The food arrived hot and tasty. I have an allergy to onions and so many times when I tell the hostess not to put onions in the dishes or sauces they think chives are OK. It was so nice to finally have a restaurant that got it right the first time. We will definitely order from them again. The prices were reasonable for what we ordered. Thanks to everyone who recommended this restaurant.

Great service compared to the south side location. I live in the south side and my parents and I always take the extra drive to Sherwood Park because of the service here. So friendly and attentive, also free dessert!

Bland, watery, flavourless take out. I used to be a fan of this restaurant but I’ve been consistently disappointed as of late. When they first opened they were above average but now they are below average. I won’t be bringing my business here anymore.

Great when delivered… restaraunt itself leaves something to be desired. Staff is very friendly. Dim Sum all great so far(all be it a little pricey). My family’s Chinese of choice for delivery in Sherwood Park.

Today’s Weekly Unilocal was all about dim sum and through the eblast, I discovered that Good Buddy has all day every day dim sum. This is the best news since I’ve been craving dim sum like you wouldn’t believe. So I convinced the Hubba Hubby that we needed to give dim sum another try(I love it but he’s only had it one time at one other place and it wasn’t his fav). To start, Good Buddy has the BEST ginger beef that we have ever had. And given that ginger beef is Hubby’s favourite, that is a big statement. :) We ordered all of our food off the dim sum menu including pork dumplings, crab cheddar wontons, sticky rice, the ginger beef, shrimp and peppers, another shrimp dish and pork buns. The seven dishes came out pretty quick and are were hot and tasty. We would have all seven again, plus we would love to mix it up and try more on the menu. Our server was great — there when you needed him, friendly and happy. It was a great experience and we will definitely be back. Good Buddy convinced Hubba Hubby that dim sum is good. And we found out that for a delivery charge, they will even deliver to parts of Edmonton. One more thing — it looks like it is fantastic for groups. There were three large parties in three separate party rooms. The main restaurant had a ton of seating as well. We thought it would be super busy given the amount of cars in the lot, but they mostly were in these party rooms.

Always used to order there for chinese food but last time we order I ask for the peach yum yum prawns.(I had them before and they were yummy!) but this time I don’t know what the hell they gave me. It was deep fried shrimp with the skin still on!!! All of them ! Tried a few but they tasted really old and not good at all!!! Beside that one time everything else is fairly good. Cantonese chow mein is good, wor wonton soup is great, Dumplings are a little heavy on the dough

I can’t believe I didn’t check out good buddy sooner! My family and I always drive into the city for dim sum on weekends, but now that we’ve found this place in the park I doubt we will drive to the city again. The main difference between good buddy and more traditional dim sum places is that there are no carts at good buddy, everything is off the menu. The menu has all of the standard offerings like su Mai and lotus leaf wrapped rice. My personal favorite is deep fried squid and it was well represented. We didn’t order a single thing that wasn’t awesome. The food all came fast and at a nice pace as opposed to all at once which was nice. The servers were very attentive and consistently returned to clear plates, fill waters and check on us. My personal highlight of the meal was at the end when everyone takes turns guessing the amount of the bill. Our low guess was $ 89 and our high guess was $ 104. For dim sum for 6 people, it only came to $ 69!

I am giving this restaurant three stars because overall, it is A-ok. HOWEVER, I would love to be able to give their yummy peach shrimp dish 5+ stars! I go to this restaurant specifically to order the peach shrimp dish because it is the only place I have ever had it where it tastes that good. I gave my friend a bite and she said«oh my! it is like a dessert!». The shrimp is crispy and battered and it sits in a bed of peaches and a sweet cream type sauce. My husband always orders the gluten free combo meal and he is happy with it, although I don’t think overly thrilled. Otherwise we would go more just because I want the shrimp!

At this point, I’ll be suggesting this place to others. The two times I’ve eaten here the food has been fresh and delicious. I’ve been here only twice and in both cases it was for lunchtime takeout so I didn’t see much of the inside but the I did recieve was very welcoming and attentive(I believe the man I dealt with may have been the owner; he had that owner aura about him).

Excellent quality, freshness and for the quantity, the price is right at $ 4 — $ 6 per dish. The Siu Mai dumplings were the biggest I’ve ever seen! Check out my picture of the dim sum menu — there is also a full menu available. For two people whose eyes are way bigger than their stomachs, $ 50 for 9 items, tea and tip is a decent price for a very satisfying experience. Heads and tails above The Greasy Rice Bowl!

Excellent dim sum! Very clean and extremely well priced. We were with a group of people so we ordered almost one of everything on the menu and it was delicious! They make the dim sum from scratch, you can watch threw a glass window. Absolutely delicious it is one of our favourite restaurants. They also have non dim sum food for order

Came here for dim sum a couple of Sundays ago and was very impressed by the cleanliness and atmosphere of the restaurant . We arrived about 10am and it was not at all busy so the 2 of us got a nice roomy booth table by a window. The server was super friendly when we told him this was our first time coming in. We quickly scanned the menu and was impressed by the variety of items they had from ginger beef to shrimp dumplings and deep fried squid. We ordered way too much food as usual and it was all brought out to our table in a nice relaxed steady pace. The food was fresh, nothing soggy or over coated in sauce and everything tasted delicious. The ginger beef was not at all dry, soggy, or difficult to chew. The shrimp in little deep fried pouches was so good I had a hard time sharing them. Throughout our excessive eating and tea drinking the service staff was continuously attentive to make sure our tea was never out and our waters were topped up when needed and this was all done with a smile. They made us feel welcome and yet not at all rushed in our enjoyment of our meal, and by this time the tables around us were starting to fill up. As terrible as it is to say I have been to many Asian restaurants where the food was good but the service was so terrible(sometimes terrifying) where I felt like I was intruding on the establishment and that i should have just gotten take out or delivery and then ran for my life… At Good Buddy this was quite the opposite and for that itself I will be returning with family and friends. On the way out we grabbed a take out/deliver menu and ordered dinner from them the next night. The food was still good but some deep fried items where a little soggy as to be expected. I highly suggest coming here for dim sum rather then braving downtown Edmonton and fighting for parking and a seat. The food is fresh from the kitchen and not pre frozen and reheated, the service is great and parking is plentiful. Thank you Good buddy for the great experience and see you soon.

We had our one-month baby dinner here, and what a spectacular job they did! The manager meticulously helped us select a list of delightful dishes from which to choose, ahead of time. They gave us one of the banquet rooms, so we had our own private party. The staff were more than courteous, and catered to our every need. Even feeding my baby was a joy! They gave me a private room, where I can nurse the little guy in comfort and peace. To impress even Chinese people is a feat for a Chinese restaurant. The food was a few notches above all other chinese restaurants in the city definitely. Everything was done superbly. They were traditional chinese dishes like Fish Maw soup, Peking Duck with Lettuce Wraps. It is certainly a breath of fresh air when a restaurant is able to prepare such chinese favourites so well. My favourite dish of the evening: Definitely try the Steamed Garupa(sp?) on a bed of soft tofu, with ginger and green onion. The fish is supremely smooth, and the tofu is done just right. Makes my mouth water just thinking about it. Even the Take out containers are impressive! Instead of the regular styrofoam clamshells, they have clear spill-proof plastic containers that are both reusable, and obviously fully recyclable! This is the first restaurant that I have seen anywhere that uses such containers, and we have kept and are definitely reusing them a few times! All in all, very impressed with this Good Buddy location, a great addition to Sherwood Park, that is otherwise void of good authentic chinese restaurants.
