Not bad if you don’t mind waiting half an hour for an average burrito People in town rave about it because they are used to eating mediocre food But my non-hipster rating is an honest one I have eaten there enough times

Following the Sea to Summit hike we thought swinging into the popular Mags 99 for tacos seem like a fitting reward. They didn’t disappoint. Wee wait for awesomeness.

Ordered the large fish burrito. This place is fairly busy, love the low key colorful décor. Their menu is vast. My burrito was big indeed, rice, deep fried fish and slaw nicely wrapped up. The wrap was standard, the rice was bland, the fish was the best I’ve had because it was hot, made to order and soft(even sal y limon– puts cold shriveled up pieces in theirs). I’m not sure if it’s supposed to include fresh made fish or pieces that have been sitting, I’ve not really been to Mexico. The slaw was bland as well, basically besides the fish nothing was worth eating, and this was 13 $! The rice actually had completely dried up bits that were not edible(bad cleaning job from days ago?), it had the consistency of sand and I had to spit it out, and not chew too hard so I’d save my teeth from chipping– not acceptable. I should of gave it back to them but I hate wasting food, so I ate carefully, with lotsa hot sauce to give it some flavour. The burrito should have cheese or beans or even t a hint of lime or something in their slaw? 5stars for the fish –1star for inedible food, –1 star for no flavour, –1star for high cost Next time I’m here I’ll try something else instead– no more burritos. Your credit card bill statement will say«Mr. Clucks» not Mag’s 99

I have been to Mags just a few times, and can’t figure out why I don’t come more often. Although I have not tried the fried chicken I can comment on the tacos and burritos. Awesome! I stopped in today and had pork tacos with pickled cabbage topping. Super yum. Very authentic Mexican style tacos on small soft tortillas. I highly recommend stopping by on your way up or down the Sea to Sky. AND there is some really great Mexican inspired art all over the joint, including the restrooms. Very cool place.

Just when you thought you couldn’t do any worse than Burger King, this place comes and displace it with flying colours! Bad service, bad food, bad ambiance. Trifecta! Drive extra 30-seconds to MacDonalds or Whitespot.

Great fast food joint in Squamish. This places has fried chicken and Tex Mex food. Can get really busy during lunch time when people are finished their hikes — the Chief and the sea to sky gondola. I got one piece fried chicken and mexi fries — chicken had a nice crunch and seasoning, fries were cold and was not freshly served. Veggie Enchalidas with roasted red pepper sauce. Pretty good dish!

Service was great. Fook was ok, we had both chicken and burritos. I was expecting more based on the reviews.

You know that bright orange fried chicken place in Squamish right off the highway? Well, the restaurant looks kinda ugly but the food though, is awesome. It’s a mexican fast food place with fried chicken. Here you get the quick service of a fast food restaurant but the food quality of a regular traditional one. Everything is priced perfectly and with quality food to match. Go for: excellent mexican food Don’t go for: a waiter to bring you the food

I used to enjoy the tacos here, especially the pork ones. I’ve gone back numerous times, hoping for that same great taco experience, but it has been so disappointing. It is also frustrating that every time I go there my order is made differently. The chicken has been okay when I’ve had it, but certainly nothing to write home about.

This place was never a Taco Time, it was a KFC and a Taco Bell. I never get those two mixed up. If it wasn’t for the selection of cold sodas, loud music and fine art this place would have received fewer stars. They ran out of chicken but we ordered something else I can’t remember. It was good.

Do not judge a book by its cover! This restaurant has become a must stop destination whenever I’m in the Squamish or Whistler area. Their food is amazing and so fresh. You owe it to yourself to give them a try.

Great spot, truly a hidden gem. Looks like crap, but that’s part of the appeal, great Mexican food. Only complaint is last time I went they were out of hot sauce, I couldn’t even buy any for my food.

I’ve had the burrito and chimmichanga here. both were really good. The only thing I wish was that they put a bit more slaw in the burrito. Cimmichanga sauce was really good. Staff are rad. I dont drink pop really but I noticed that the fountain pop is cheap which is cool. I saw some guy eating a chiken meal with a thing of gravy that looked good. Nice to have a great, fresh, delicious and cheap place to eat in Squamish.

Just stopped in after riding all day, and it was a good decision. Good Mexican food and fried chicken. Just what I needed after a day at the hill

Wow! I am a pretty discerning person about food, especially cheap food. Do not let the fried chicken business or the words«fast food» put you off. When you walk into this restaurant, there is no fried oil smell… all very fresh. And the clientele are just totally immersed in eating. The food is very good; the staff are young and wonderful and helpful. And seem happy… Now if you love fried chicken, they have it. If you like rotisserie chicken, they have it. I had a rotisserie chicken taco and it was divine! My partner made it through their very generous burrito and I had to convince him it did not say extra large anywhere. This was the norm. This is a great spot right on the highway route to and from Vancouver and Whistler. We had a terrific supper and very inexpensively. I had to compare this with a fine dining experience I had in Whistler where my fine beef was tough and the designer sauce(pureed squash) had hard seeds sprinkled throughout. Honestly, I love down home cooking’ like Mag’s. Power to the people… just sayin’

Amazing, unique, local fast food joint serving massive portions of Mexican-inspired food at super reasonable prices! I love a place that knows exactly what it aspires to do and absolutely nails that thing. This is messy, inauthentic, cheap, unhealthy Mexican fast food at its finest. If that’s what you’re looking, Mag’s 99 won’t disappoint, if it isn’t don’t bother. Mag’s 99 fits into that rare space of being totally non-corporate(like most fast food chains), but also not even remotely hipster of pretentious(like most food trucks in Vancouver). I expect to find restaurants like this in the states, but not in the Vancouver area. Fast food with character and soul!!!

Hmmm… So big ups for multiple reasons. 1. Staff look like they are having the time of their life 2. Used to be a KFC and Taco Bell, now it is a locally owned taco and fried chicken place 3. Tons of gluten free options 4. Falafel burrito!

The rumours are true,. this place is awesome. Imagine a nightmarish scene where a horrible 80s fast food building exists serving mystery meat Mexican and MSG(11) laden herbs and spices on chicken in one building. This was the case in the 80s and 90s as this building was a tacobell/KFC(and admittedly I liked it,. I had no regard for my health at that age). Now,. it serves fried chicken and Mexican! Huh?! But now it is all fresh ingredients like 2 really good Vancouver foodcarts merged together minus the tiny portion size and high prices! Same genre of food,. totally different style and results. Don’t get me wrong, this is still fast food but it is no longer a chain,. employees people that seem like they like being there,. and the food is way, way better. They décor is still bright yellow but now with an ironic hipster angle and a more Mexican artwork combo. Burritos are the real deal and huge,. slow roasted meats only. Did I say huge,. I meant the«small» was heavier than any huge burrito I’ve ever handled,. share it even if you are a big eater. I LOVE fried chicken but not the grease,. this is one of the best I’ve ever had. Do it, and if you get chicken and waffles know the waffles are cornbread-ish,. totally something different. It will be hard not to stop here on the way home from Whistler. Did I mention home-made hot sauces(the hot one is called Son of Rapture… we didn’t try it,. long drive home and all).
