The food here is fantastic! The staff is friendly and it was very apparent, fresh ingredients were being used. I had the drunken noodles and all the veggies were cooked perfectly and the noodles were delicious. Great staff and perfect for picking up, I highly recommend this place. The staff may even tell you a creepy story or two about the building… :)

The place was quite when I arrived. Service was quick at first but started to take longer as a few more tables filled up. Such a large place with one waitress. Wouldn’t want to be here when it’s busy. Food was average. I ordered Vietnamese salad rolls, the salad was good, the rolls were cold, not too appealing. The dipping sauce made it better but wasn’t happy overall. The Vietnamese PHO was average, I’m not a PHO expert but I wouldn’t say it was anything but average. I also ordered dessert, deep fried banana, which was the highlight, but in their defence it’s kinda hard to mess up dessert. I’m glad I got to try this place out, but probably wouldn’t be back.

Well, I like my waitress, so I give them 5 star. BUT, the FOOD is very DISAPPOINTED! I’m sorry to say that, but in simple words: if you are Asian and want some Real Thai food, AVOID this place! Me and my friends came from SF Bay Area for the weekends. No Thai restaurants I had tried in Bay Area have this kind of «interesting» taste. All foods taste so NOT like the Thai food I had before. We ordered two curry: all ingredients taste like they are cooked separately(without any salt or other flavor) and then put into the curry soup. The curry soup has its own flavor, but all ingredients taste pale. We also ordered drunken noodle, which taste like plain rice noodle soaked in vinegar ONLY(no other flavor that we can taste, which is very weird to us). I ordered pineapple fry rice with chicken. You can taste some kind of special spice in it, BUT it feels like NOSALT in it!!! Not only the rice taste no salt, the chicken taste no flavor too. The best dish we had for the dinner is the mussel appetizer. I have to say it taste very good. However, I would say this is not a «traditional» Thai dish. It’s an American/Canadian dish with a Thai flavor hint. So if you are really in a mood of having Thai food, this place won’t satisfy your Thai enthusiastic! The only fair tasting Thai food we ordered is the second soup on the Manu. The soup taste not bad and it taste like Thai flavor. The other appetizer we ordered is the Pull something pork with Lettuce. This dish taste good! BUT, still… it does not taste like Thai food. The pork in it taste like American style bbq rib(very similar to the best selling rib dish sold at Texas Roadhouse, but the texture is a little different – more soft here).

This Thai food restaurant was pretty good, and I highly recommend their last item on the menu — somewhat beef and basil stir fry. The only downside was that the lady misplaced our order item twice. It also provided free Wi-Fi, which was really convenient for people like me from U.S. without data roaming.

Great Thai, vietnamese, Cambodian food in Squamish This is the second time here. The food is excellent, mussels are put together with a delicious coconut based broth. Pad Thai was well balanced– just the right amount of sweet tangy nutty and just a touch of Fish sauce to give it some punch Curries are all good too, can’t go wrong when in Squamish and craving some south East Asian food

Coming down the mountain from Whistler, we stopped here for dinner. I must say for anyone reading this, stop here and try it. The biggest negative is that the restaurant is not 10 feet off the main highway. It’s’s more like a block and a half but so glad we stumbled into it. The owner was friendly and attentive and the flavors of the soup and main dishes were just so darn good. If you stay on main roads you might never eat here but if you are willing to drive a block or two to try something new and fantastic, you won’t regret it.

Wonderful oasis between Vancouver and Whistler! Lovely fresh drinks, both virgin and medicated. We experienced super service! Both a dining room area and a lounging zone with couches.

Listen up folks — don’t be fooled by the lack of reviews, this place is a gem! I have traveled through Thailand several times and frequent the best of LA/NYC Thai, and this place caught me off guard! The Thai French fries as a starter is unreal, who ever knew curry and sweet potatoes were a match made in heaven?! I teased my buddy for ordering the wings, but I ate my words quickly when I had a taste(along with half his plate). I ordered the Red Curry main with chicken, and I must say the flavor was fantastic, and rather shocking coming out of Squamish! Looking forward to bringing friends into this secret jewel in the mountains! Muah!

I have tried almost every dish in this restaurant, twice. The Spice Root is a Thai FUSION restaurant. My favorite dishes are the green curry bowl(Thai curries are quite different from Indian curries) and the heavenly pineapple fried rice. As this swanky litte joint continues to grow I will continue to go there to try new things. The drinks are made fresh and there is a tonne of selection. I love that I can take a family member there that may not be as into Thai as I am because, did I mention it already… it’s a Thai Fusion restaurant! I have now been to 4 birthday dinners there and the food, atmospere and service has been great, not to mention there are 4 different types of seating areas to choose from: The Bar, the Tatami Rooms, the lounge near the fireplace and the main seating area. The décor is also lovely & modern-chic.

The Spice Root is a breath of fresh air in Squamish. I’ve been a few times since opening and tried a number of dishes including the phở, pad thai and spring rolls. I’ve enjoyed every plate. They also serve up a great selection of drinks and have an awesome atmosphere. The service was friendly and intuitive. My vegetarian friends are very excited about having a great selection of dishes. I look forward to seeing what comes of this restaurant as it comes of age and the dishes develop. On a side note, those seeking an authentic Asian street food experience should temper their expectations or keep driving to Vancouver. This fusion restaurant that is taking a chance in a small town where variety and quality is in short supply. The passion for good food and service is there and that’s all I need to be happy.

It’s been a long time waiting with crossed fingers that Squamish would get a Thai restaurant/healthy place to eat. besides sushi. and then to my surprise and glee. Spice Root appeared… yay! I have been there 4 times. and will be going back… Each experience has been cozy, welcoming and delicious. When i enter the beautiful wood doors I am received with a friendly face. then sat at cozy booths, tatami rooms(my favorite. and give privacy) or at the bar. Once seated it’s time for a drink. YUM!.. you should see the drink menu it’s so inciting and hard to choose as each drink has such wonderful ingredients. There is also BC’s local beer on tap and a few jugs have been drank.(wink) I prefer the White Bark Ale… sluuurp! Now its time for food.. each time I have been there I have tried something different. Pad Thai, Tom Kaa Soup, Edammae, Pork Skewers… I was actually thinking yesterday that next time I go I want to try the Pineapple Fried Rice. Each dish has been VERYFRESH, &TASTY. Although not totally authentic still delicious in it’s own«West Coast» way. I liked that some dishes came spicy and some didn’t, this allowing you to use the variety of spices they have to spice up your own dish… I suggest trying the Fire Water. ohh yeah baby… heat! There are a ton of options on some of the dishes. you can get them with tofu, chicken, pork, & seafood… being able to customize your dish is great. Let’s not forget dessert. WOW! I have only tried the White Chocolate Coconut Cardamom Mousse and it was soo splendid. Looking at there website. i also see the there is a kids menu… Having that in Squamish with all these families is brilliant. and. its healthy. nice work Spice Root. They also do take out BONUS. Well that is my review… stoked they are in town. and can’t wait to go again.

I was so excited to try this place after hearing a few reviews on Facebook and whatnot. A new Thai place in Squamish — so exciting! We ordered the Spring Rolls, which we were told were made in house, the Yellow Buddha Curry Bowl & the Thai Heavenly Pineapple Fried Rice. The Spring Rolls were alright, but very greasy and a little bland, the sweet-chili dip made them taste better. But our mains were horribly bland. There was no salt, no pepper, no seasoning whatsoever. The Yellow Buddha Curry Bowl was bland, full of vegetables and very little chicken, which was also tasteless. The Thai Heavenly Pineapple Fried Rice was very disappointing. There were 5 small pieces of pineapple in the whole dish. The Rice was bland again. We will never go back. Don’t waste your time. For good curry in Squamish, check out Essence of India. Other than that, this«Thai» restaurant was very, very disappointing.
