This place is a gem! Came here two days in a row — once for breakfast, the second time for lunch. The croissant sandwich for breakfast was delicious, as was the café au lait that they made for me. Today I got half quinoa and half fruit salad for lunch. Though I technically ordered two small portions($ 4.95 each), the girl working at the counter charged me for just 1 large portion($ 8.95). Really great service, they definitely know how to take care of their customers! I will surely be back before I leave St John’s!

Love this place… came here for the first time on my husbands birthday. I had called them ahead of time to purchase a surprise cupcake for our upcoming trip and they were nice enough to personalize one for him. Lunch was so good we had to try it out for breakfast… the almond croissant is the best I’ve ever had, delicious! Outside of the friendly faces this place is quite charming, my favorite is the old fashion silver toaster that serves as a «take a number» system when ordering.

Charming café and eatery located in the heart of St. John’s with delicious food and warm & friendly service. I ordered the pull pork turnover, chocolate brownie and a almond croissant for the road. My partner ordered a slice of the lamb curry pie and breakfast burrito. Everything felt home made and was flavourful. The pulled pork turn over had such a flavourful filling with a crispy crust. The croissant was light and fluffy, made with lots of butter but was not greasy at all. The chocolate brownie was made with dark chocolate and was simply decadent. They also have a space for you to sit and enjoy your meal. Lucky for us, it was a beautiful sunny morning and were able to enjoy the floor to ceiling windows in their adjoining seating area. I would also recommend ordering their French press coffee, they give you the option for three different roasts and was incredibly fresh. Yes, things were a bit higher priced but in my perspective well worth it. Definitely a place to visit!

Loved it here! Great coffee. Super ginger cookies! Although I didn’t have them, the soups and sandwiches looked awesome. Very comfortable place with lots of elbow room, daylight and a great atmosphere.

Over priced and over rated. Rockets has charm — the venue is warm and cozy with fresh baked breads on display. However, after visiting on several occasions whenever I’m in town, I find that the food is just«eh». I’ve tried different menu items and find most of the food bland and uninspiring. Additionally, the food is about 15−20% more expensive than other comparable places. I ordered the sandwich of the day today — a pork sandwich that was very bland. I politely asked if they had any peppers they can add to my sandwich. I was told that it’ll cost me 50cents as they need to recover their costs. They gave me 3 pieces of pickled peppers? What the … fail Rocket. You’re over priced and over rated. As much as I like the charm of your restaurant, I find that I visit less and less when I come to St John’s.

Great place to pick up some pastries and bread. They also have an assortment of desserts, such as cakes, butter tarts, and homemade cookies. We tried the pulled-pork turnover. It was pretty good because it was a nice twist to fill a turnover with pulled pork. This is a great hangout place for brunch, but the only problem is that the seating can get quite busy, so you may have to save a seat while your friends order for you.

If you’re looking for a great hangout place with decent coffee and local food, this is the go-to for St. John’s. The atmosphere is hipster with lots of local nuances to make you feel warm and cozy despite the large seating area. The majority of food is homemade and well done. My personal favorites are the chocolate cranberry bread, homemade cakes, pork turnover and burritos. They offer plenty of healthy and fresh alternatives such as soup and salads as well they always have a tasty special of the day. I spent many hours completing my thesis at the Rocket. Staff have always been friendly although there’s a lot of turnover. In summary, it’s a great hang out place in a great location of the city.

Was visiting St John’s from Los Angeles and was pleasantly surprised to find Rockets. Their mocha is simply amazing. Probably the best I’ve ever had. They make all of their chocolate syrup using real chocolate — not some powder — and it shows! So delicious! I also had their pulled pork turnover and their bread pudding(forget the exact name? Devilish, perhaps?) both of which were similarly amazing. If you show up, you will not be disappointed!

Amazing little café right in the heart of downtown St. John’s. Hipster feel décor while you pick/pay for your food before sitting down. Perfect for breakfast or lunch. From the pulled pork turnovers to their various soups and sandwiches, everything tasted very nice and fresh. Coffee was also another good surprise. They had their own nice little blend and also your average espresso options. Hard to find parking as there is only street parking available, and during lunch and breakfast times it can get quite busy. Would definitely recommend to anyone whose looking for a cosy sit down lunch or a quick coffee and sandwich.

Everything was made on site and fresh that day. Had the pulled pork turnover which was amazing and a lemon meringue tart and chocolate eclaire which were the best I’ve ever had. Short walk from the harbour front in the middle of an eclectic street of shops and restaurants. You have to check this place out!

Auntie Crae’s.where ya to? I had heard good things about this place. so decided to give it a go Ordered the Iceberg beer, and cod cakes The codcakes didn’t look appetizing, but tasted divine. plus the tar-tar sauce made the dish Recommended for a beer, coffee, and light snack

Came here for a late morning sammie. I got the veggie breakfast sandwich. It was one of the best breakfast sammies i have had. My husband had a bagel and coffee. Which also was super tasty. We will be back tomorrow morning for breakfast again before we leave St. Johns.

This isn’t your average bakery or coffee shop though they have both here. It’s a strange hybrid of all of the above. It’s also a café & quite a large space for downtown. I like the vibe here. It’s rustic yet contemporary. Comfy yet classy. A mix of cool 30 somethings, some high school aged kids & also the older urbane crowd. They do have some outdoor space available. It consists of small round tables & a pair of chairs. It’s right on the street though. I’m more comfortable inside. Would come back again.

I was in St. John’s for a 24 hour layover, and found out about this place through Unilocal. It was a good recommendation. There was an extensive collection of soups, sandwiches, cakes, and some very friendly staff. I had some sort of chicken sandwich and coffee, and enjoyed both. I do feel the prices were slightly expensive, but I am not used to St. John’s or what the standard prices are there, so I won’t go on about that. :) Great bakery in an excellent location with friendly staff. I hope to be back. :)

just like Tegan & Sara say, «EVERYTHINGISAWESOME»!!! Came in for the sausage roll featured on You’ve Gotta Eat Here and found that they also have Phil & Sebastian coffee from YYC! Delicious breakfast biscuit and egg croissant, pain au chocolate, cinnamon bun and cookies. Lunch was amazing with the pulled pork turnover as my fav but the quiche & Turkey Club a close 2nd and 3rd. I wish I had more time in St. John’s to try more!

Stumbled across this little gem while walking around downtown. Hot chocolate is delicious! I was a little disappointed in gluten free options, but ended up getting the root vegetable, bacon and corn chowder and broccoli salad. They were both great and I was very full by the end(portion sizes were good). The décor is very Portland OR, which coming from the West Coast was awesome :) This will definitely be a regular spot for me!

My BF’s been working in St. John’s for a few months and of course first thing I ask when he gets there is «is there a good coffee shop?»(NOT Timmy’s, Starbucks or any other chains) and he tells me about the Rocket right across his building that serves Phil and Sebastian, and I know it has to be good. A few months later I finally make my way out to St. John’s after traveling for 2 weeks in Europe. It’s April and still –5 with 4ft snow banks(worst winter of all time everyone’s told me, my luck) and being a west coaster I locked myself inside for 3 days avoiding the snow. So after mediocre coffee in Europe and zero coffee trapped inside, I wanted a good Cappuccino, badly. And I found an amazing Capp at The Rocket. I actually had two, as the first one was so good. I would have got 3 but I had to cut myself off to avoid heart palpitations while on vacation. These guys are definitely making P&S proud, as they were my go to coffee shop when I lived in Calgary. I also had the APPLECINNAMONSCONE with caramel drizzle. Very nice, not as rich and buttery as some(which is a good thing for me at least) and the perfect sweetness. Interior décor is rustic«shabby chic» but very clean which I appreciate. Lots of seating on the other side of the shop. Staff are friendly and attentive with that St. John’s hospitality, and the man at the pastry window was nice enough to tell me his recommendations and told me about the pastries for the day which I appreciated. They also serve lunch, soups, salads, sandwiches(I’ll definitely be back to update on this) as well as a «market» with tea, jams and other trinkets. I’ll definitely be back! Keep up the awesome work! Update: So far I’ve also had the Cinnamon Bun(nice and flaky, looks on the dry side but actually very moist), Almond Croissant(flaky and delicious, no fake almond flavour), daily special Chicken Club(looked small but actually packed with fillings and vey tasty, bread is amazing!), Broccoli Salad
