Caledonia House

My boyfriend and I stayed at Caledonia House while visiting Stratford to see Othello and do some Fall Foraging. I’m so glad that we decided to spend the night instead of driving home. We stayed in The Garden Room, which Michael had told me was due to be renovated. We found it to be charming and extremely comfortable. The bed was two twins pushed together with a memory foam to make a King and dressed with a cloud-​like duvet and the nicest pillows I’ve slept on. Lying in bed, you can see the garden and the fall leaves coming down. The room was located on the main floor off the parlour and it felt as though we had the whole place to ourselves. We had a game of chess and some wine between the play and our dinner reservation and a nice chat with Michael on the comfortable couch.
The property is gorgeous with a heated pool that we obviously couldn’t use since it was late October, and a newly built gazebo. The house, itself, built in 1872 is stately and charming. It really stands out as one of the most distinctive homes on the street. It was a short and beautiful walk to the Theater and our dinner reservation.
The coffee in the morning was fabulous and Anna’s breakfast was delicious– a strata of vegetables, bacon and cheese with English muffins, fruit and a warm fruit pastry. Michael kept our coffee cups full over conversation with the other guests who were funny and friendly. On our way out, they gave us some muffins and bottles of water for our foraging expedition.
The hospitality provided by Anna and Michael was exceptional and I wouldn’t hesitate to stay here again while in Stratford and would gladly recommend it to anyone. Next time, we’ll have to book the balcony room and go when the pool is open!
