Food is amazing here. On my second visit, i thought some of the kebabs were little dry. We ordered chicken combo that came with basmati rice, assorted grill that came with naan and vegetarian dish. Bolani as appetizer. Waiting line was extremely long and service was slow.

Found it by accident 3 years ago and it’s got good taste. I wouldn’t stay it’s value for money but it is good food. It’s got a regular crowd and the seating is big and airy. You don’t feel too crammed even when it’s busy. The staff are friendly and will recommend dishes to you if you are not too sure what to choose from. I saw the staff handle a huge party of some odd 20 – 25 people at one table and there were no mix-ups or any hiccups and everyone was happy. Great vibe in the restaurant. People/regulars come here knowing it’s good food and leave happy which is obvious. I didn’t have any issues with wait times for food but I did go after typical rush hour and there was that one big table.

Wonderful food and service. They honored our entertainment coupons, without hesitstions. Friendly service. Resturant is clean. We were a group of 5 and we enjoyed our food. Portions are good. My husband and I had the meal for 2 and it was very satisfying. My only recommendation is that they add some type of daal/lentil/stew or gravy dish to their menu to compliment the menu items(majority food kebab, rice etc). This would also be helpful for the elderly who need softer foods because they are in dentures etc. Not the case with us, we just feel the meal would have been 5 star had it been rice, kebab and some type of daal or stew. Overall I would definitely come again!

Best Afghan food in Surrey, BC. Well trained waiter and waitress. Fast serving and best Kaboob. I come all the way from Calgary to try their food and it was worth it.

I went there in a group of 3 but highly disappointed with the service. we got dinner after waiting for an hr and on top of that got served appetizer after we had a dinner(not to forget reminding 2times that we ordered appetizer too). Addition to that we hadn’t got full order even after an hr waiting and had to ask twice for a drinks which were part of an order. Besides that need to ask for a jug of water. But I have to admit food was good.

Lamb is not as pictured it is the cheap stringy cuts lots of fat little meat. They need to get quality meat to have the people come in

Atmosphere: welcoming. The location is easy to miss, which would be unfortunate if anyone gave up. There are two authentic booths there with pillows, and more conventional seating for the remainder. The seating and air conditioning were perfect. Unfortunately, the women’s washroom was a mess when my partner went in there. Food: hit and miss. On the positive side, the potato-stuffed pastry and dumplings were simply amazing. On the down side, my partner’s beef kebabs are not the best. Also, the dishes arrived fresh but lukewarm. Don’t know if this is conventional in the culture; they were perfect after being heated up again. The naan bread was different. It’s not like the soft, fluffy naan bread seen elsewhere. It’s flat and crunchy. Not my first choice. The Afghan rice more than made up for it though, with the raisin and carrot adding to the tastiness. Service: This is where one can make or break an impression. One would assume this is a family-run place, but the service was still attentive. The food came at different times and we got whole wheat naan instead of white naan. However, they were very gracious in response — not defensive at all — and they took even more off the the bill than expected. Value: good to excellent, depending on whether you have an entertainment book coupon. The portions are decent and the food is definitely worth one or two tries.

When we went recently we got very poor service from the waitress even though we were the last customer eating in. Neither did the waitress bring the chutney nor did she ask us even once how we were doing even once. I had to keep calling out to her when we wanted bread, etc. I felt extremely insulted when the waitress made me ask the owners wife to eat in and who simply gave me a half hearted unwelcoming unspontaneous nod even though i had called them earlier as indicated. I would have walked out if it wasn’t for my sister who was visiting us from the east coast. I wanted my sister to try out their food. I have been a regular customer and this behaviour is unacceptable. Remember pride goes before a fall.

WOW! What a wonderful surprise! There were 4 of us in our party and we ordered the Chef’s Special Combo($ 99.00). It came with three appetizers of your choice(we ordered one of each), three skewers of Tekka Kebab, three skewers of Chicken Kebab, three pieces skewer of Shami Kebab, two pieces of Chaplee Kebab and Chopan Kebab(Lamb Chops) all served with fresh garden salad, chutney and fresh baked naan and Qabeli Pallow(amazing rice with chunks of tender lamb)! It took us a while… but we finished everything! Absolutely wonderful. Can’t wait to return on our next visit to Vancouver!

A friend had a coupon from the Entertainment book so we thought we’d give this place a try. We went on a Friday night around 9pm — there were only 2 other tables and both looked like they were just about done their meals. I ordered the Chopan(lamb) kebab and my friend ordered the Tekka(beef tenderloin) Kebab combo. I stole a bite from my friend’s dish and the beef was fantastic. Very moist and flavorful. I then tried my lamb and was extremely disappointed. It was bland and looked nothing like the picture. It tasted like it was burned the first time it was cooked, and then seemed like it was microwaved prior to arriving at our table. The lamb was extremely tough and I couldn’t stomach eating the rest of it. I left hungry and very disappointed. As for the service, our server was nice enough but unfortunately not very attentive. I asked for a soda 3 times before receiving it(this is with only 2 other tables in the restaurant and both were already eating), we never received our chutney, and she completely forgot our appetizer(we ordered the Mantu). Overall, it wasn’t a very good experience. My friend’s meal was delicious but the service and really awful lamb ruined it for me. Will not be going back.

Pros: Great meat and chutney, melts in your mouth. Fantastic long-grain rice. Nice change from my regular cuisine. Cons: Took almost an hour for food to be served. Not just the entrée, even the appetizers and the tea too! Restaurant wasn’t even busy, it was half-full but most people already had their food. Never got the Naan bread that was supposed to come with the order.

Once I walked into the door I was a bit confused since their was no bell or indication of someone comming in. I had to poke my head out to get their attention behind the counter. This is the first time I’ve had afghan food, it was delicious! The meat was tender and full of flavor. The rice had raisins in it… I was skeptical at first but once I tried it, it was a soft sweet raisin and went very well with the rice. The bread was pretty good, it was a little hard but the bigger ones were soft and fluffy. The milk tea with a little bit of sugar is quite filling for the taste buds. Yes but their are down sides to this restaurant. The wait time was quite a bit almost 15 mins for the appetizer and then about 20 more mins for the main course which was the couple combo. The salad that came with it seemed old and flavorless but the rest was pretty good. It seems that their was only one server and it run by a family. Their was kids running around but I don’t mind. The server was nice and kind. All in all I would come back for the food and would recommend this place to anyone who would want afghan food :)

I have been wastning to try out this restaurant for ages, until a DealFind Coupon came up $ 20 for $ 40 worth of food. I bought this coupon the end of September 2014. I made a reservation, arrived at my alotted time and found 3 – 4 toddlers screaming and running around out of control. I stood in the front waiting to be seated and there was only 1 server runing around looking after tables and wouldnt even acknowledge us. About 5 minutes later I started peering around looking for someones attention and made eye contact with kitchen staff who then told the server there was a customer at the front. The server a young girl, looked tired, overworked and unfriendly. I got the vibe she did not want to be there. We were seated, given menus and I informed the server again, that we were using DealFind. She nodded and walked away. She came back a few moments later and took our orders, I tried to give the coupon to her and she refused to take and told us to give it to her after our meal. She never offered us a drink or asked either. The food was mediocre, the rice was not fresh and the portion was small. The salad consisted of lettuce sprinkled with dry mint only. The kabobs were over flavoured and nothing to really brag about. Compared to Persian Kabobs, this was sh*t. When we were done, we presented the coupon and were conveniantly told that DealFind was bankrupt and we had to pay cash. Thank goodness I brought cash considering payday was the next day. I understand that they were screwed to, but where is the customer service? Offer us a discount at least! I suspect they knew of the bankrupcy and failed to tell us so we were tricked into eating there. I would have stayed anyways if we were told ahead.

I pre-ordered takeout and it still took them an hour to make it: They didn’t start till I got there and either I payed for something I didn’t order, or I got someone else’s order, which I didn’t realize until I got to the venue where I was taking the food. The meat was tasty, but the accompaniment was bland(except the rice, which was good). I was pretty frustrated, for sure. I may try their eat in option the next time I’m in town, because that looked like it might have been better, but I’m probably not going to order takeout anytime soon from them again.

I’m addicted to the Bolani appetizer. I don’t know authentic afghani food at all — this is the first place I ever tried it. So I am not a good judge on authenticity but DAMN does it taste good. I’m not a fan of the kebabs, however. I grew up eating very flavourful kebabs(the best way I would describe these would be light and summery), here however they are heavier and plainer as is traditional in the northern parts of India(as they were derived from the Middle East). In the eastern part of India where I grew up they are interpreted very differently. And as we all have a soft corner for our childhood foods, I have to admit, I don’t like the middle eastern counterpart.
