Was in Surrey with the family. Saw the reviews and it was close to the hotel. Drove to the address. It doesn’t exist. Bummer.

Al & Jan’s has been a staple in my family for years and years. My last visit was a week ago, and we dined in. The place was busy busy, and we waited maybe 15 minutes for a table for 4. I prefer the cod, as does my husband. My parents order the halibut. Both are battered to perfection and tasty. When we dine in we usually order onion rings and coleslaw, too. They’re great for take out as well, wrapped in newspapers and with a real English feel. A must try if you’re in the area!

Good place. Good food nice people. Will visit again. Portions are smallish and a little pricey. But worth the trip.

Seated, served, ate my food and I was on my way in 20 minutes. Delicious food, with simple but high quality ingredients at reasonable prices. I really liked the Halibut! It’s exactly what you expect at a fishy joint.

Went here once and I must say that they have super friendly staff! Our waiter had a smile on his face the whole time and had no problems answering our questions. Sadly I didn’t try their all you can eat but I had a great clam chowder! I had also tried the halibut but I prefer the cod(had a bite of a friend’s). Jan went around making sure everything was alright and Al was surprised at how much we ate. They are so sweet and kind. Definitely going back to go for the all you can eat :)

It’s our first time visiting this place. It’s not as fancy as we imagined. We ordered the Cod Dinner plate for $ 13 which includes a bun and butter, plus coleslaw and the fish & chips. The Cod was in a crispy batter, and it was really tasty. The fries are just average, nothing special. The server, was new I guess. He was trying his best, but has monotone voice, which I think can be improved. He asked us more than 5 times how everything is. I think you should only ask your customer once, because it becomes redundant after several times. Jan’s a sweet lady.

My wife and I like Al & Jan’s halibut and chips a lot. The all you can eat fish, not so much. This is a great place for a Friday night takeout dinner, albeit a tad expensive. Al greets regular customers with recognition, if not by name, and runs a tight ship. Over all this is our goto place for fish ‘n chips in Surrey.

Very disappointed with their attitude. They say its All You Can Eat fish n chips, apparently it isn’t so. The old lady I assume to be Jan noticed a mound of batter on my plate so she tells me I have to eat all of the batter otherwise I am only allowed one more refill. She explains that since I don’t eat all of the batter(filler) that I could eat more fish, well duh! First of all too much batter is no good for anyone so if i choose to eat half the batter then that should be my choice and not get penalized for it. That’s like saying I have to consume all the ice in non-stop pop. When the craving hits I now go to C-Lovers in Langley, they don’t bitch about me peeling batter off and it truly is ALLYOUCANEAT fish n chips! :-)

Fish & chips done right. Having lived in the UK(the home of fish n’ chips), I’d say I’m some what of an authority on this classic plate, and I can say with confidence that Al & Jan’s is doing it right! Mondays & Tuesdays is All You Can Eat Cod & Chips — I happened to go on a Tuesday, but instead of All You Can Eat Cod I was in the mood for Halibut, so I got the 1pc with fries for $ 10.99. The fries were almost perfect, super crispy with minimal oil, and the portion was generous too. The Halibut was very tasty, again minimal oil and a decent sized piece of fish. I polished off the whole plate and didn’t feel«sluggish» how I usually do after a fried meal, and that’s a very good sign! The service was very friendly, and quick, but the atmosphere and interior definitely leaves something to be desired — this place has a high school cafeteria feel to it. Oh well, at least the food ‘s great. I’m going to give the All You Can Eat a shot next time, I’ll let you know how it is =)

Yep, agree with Anthony — some good fish and chips. Went and tried on a really rainy, bloody cool day and it sure cured my funk. Staff is efficient, friendly and very courteous to seniors that were there on a rainy Wednesday afternoon. I’ll be back — the chips were amazing!

Located just by save-on foods, it’s small so look for it! The fish and chips are some of the best I have eaten! They do have all you can eat(can’t remember when) but we always get take out. Portion sizes are big and yummy. They are usually busy so we call ahead to order! Not usually very greasy… But 4 stars for the times they are(usually the onion rings).

This has to be the best local fish and chips joint in North Surrey. This is a ma and pa ran operation. They were formerly known as «The Codfather» until the restaurant chain blundered. The staff is always friendly and respectable. They are also quite knowledgeable on reheating the food when you get home too from a previous visit. I had the cod fish and chips. It’s soo tasty. Next time I’m going to have the halibut. I’m already craving for more fish and chips. You, cruel cruel world! lol
