Just as the name implies, place gives u the feeling of «apna desh» at a foreign place. I have been here number of times since i have landed in canada but never strikes me to write review of the food. There is no doubt that this place is tiny but if they are making enough money making people wait why wouldn’t they do it. Infact everyone willingly wait coz they know the wait would b worth. All the items on the menu are very authentic. I will share few of my favourites. I like chaat paprdi which was generous amount but they put tomatoes so let them know not to if u dont like it that way. For tummy full meal, go for kathi rolls which r served with french fries n finger licking delicious. I think they have the best lemonade coz its the way i like it. Plz plz try if u want something fuzzy n to digest ur food. Oh yah one last thing, i love idli n so i tried their chilli idli which turns out to be… yyyyuuuummmmmy It was spicy though but i went crazy over it as its not to heavy on stomach. For some reason their washroom doesnot hav nice interior but clean enough n have nice fragrance everytime(literally their room freshener is good) Plz dont expect high end servers as the aunties who work their our like our own aunties. They work really hard n well spoken. Just treat them nicely with a smile n they will be best for u. Thanks to the owners for providing this delightful place to surrey food lovers

The concept of ordering at the till before sitting down SUCKS. It gets so crowded and uncomfortable. The waitress forgot our order twice, which felt a bit ridiculous. But the food(we went for Falooda and Gol Gappa and Dahi Puri) was legit amazing. Would go again just because the food is perfection.

This tiny establishment made me so incredibly homesick for India. The food is a little on the pricey side in terms of Surrey chaat, but the food was really good and I’d love to come back for more. The Pav Bhaji was thisclose to being like what I remember, and my boyfriend enjoyed the chicken lollipops. Décor was really cute! There is a tiny«stall» where they serve gol gappa out of, and some food-related street signs. Keep up the good work guys!

We go here often because it’s close to where we live. Compared to other Indian restaurants that sell similar food, this place is pretty expensive. Yet, the place is always packed! The food is pretty good, but it’s not THAT good. In my opinion, people come here more for the fun atmosphere. With the latest Bollywood hits blaring full blast, and tons of people coming in and out with family and friends, it always feels like there’s a party going on. You may still be in British Columbia, but when you’re in this restaurant, it’s like you’ve been transported to Mumbai. We really enjoyed their Dani batata puri and bhel puri, but the triple Szechuan could use some work. Don’t get me wrong. It was a good blend of Chinese and Indian flavours, and had a spicy kick to it. But at $ 14, the triple Szechuan was the most expensive item on the menu and SO not worth the price. There wasn’t even any meat in it. Just lots of rice, sauce, and a sprinkling of noodles. For better Indian style Chinese food, skip this place and head to Hakka Masti. If it’s Indian street food you’re after, then Apna Chaat House is the place to be.

They serve Indian style Street food. The food is awesome, but the prices are off the charts. It’s very expensive. Gol gappas are OK. But their Kathi rolls are awesome. So if their other choices. I gave them 4 stars because of the prices.

It was an aweful experience. I was in Surrey for the first time and I had given the lady at the front desk USD, which she exchanged at 1:1 rate that definitely doesn’t make sense. It’s like you are taking advantage of customers with USD and forcing them not to return back with USD. At least the currency should be exchanged close to the standard rate.

I used to love this place until one day their chat got me sick! They have overpriced gol-gappe and other Indian street food but we used to go here often until one day I got chat as take-out and fell ill the same evening. It was definitely some sort of bacteria in their food :(… I also saw on Fraser Health’s website this restaurant was listed for being unsanitary. I haven’t gone since their food got me sick. I mean, the food was tasty but uncleanliness is definitely a deal breaker.

What a totally unique idea. A restaurant serving tradition East Indian street food… Along side Indian style, Chinese food? I never actually tried the Indian Chinese food, but I did thoroughly enjoy all the street food dishes that we had. 1. Golgappa — I’m not even sure what these actually are but they were super tasty and fun to construct. You get 6 or 24 spherical, deep fried, Indian style bread«shells» that you crack open at the top. You then fill in the bread with the bean and potato topping and add this very interesting sweet and salty — and very murky looking water. Then you pop it in your month as quickly as you can before it drips all over you! Whoa! Amazing. Salty, sweet with an interesting combination of Indian spices. 2. Dahi Batata Puri — Similar crispy shell, but with a completely different filling and presentation. These things are loaded with toppings and filled with a potato, beans and yogurt mixture. Loved just popping them whole into my mouth. Yum! 3. Chicken lollipops — What? Basically drummettes, deep fried and dipped in some sweet spicy goodness. Simple, yet food-gasmic. It’s important to note that you order/pay up front, don’t head straight for a table. The guy up front is a bit«cold» at first but is pretty nice once he warms up to you. Also, cost is a bit pricey for the portions that you get, but the deliciousness of it is well with it. PS. These guys do a great chai!

Excellent! We were in Vancouver(from Seattle) for 3 days and went here 2 days in a row because the food was so good! Golgappas, Sev Puri and Grilled Veggie Sandwich were the most awesome! The staff is sweet and helpful! Will definitely visit again if we are in Vancouver(might even drive to Vancouver just to visit them)!

Unbelievable food and amazing hospitality. If you’re thinking of going anywhere else, stop right now. Every dish in the menu and the pictures depict exactly how they taste… Amazing! I’ll definitely drive all the way from Seattle just to have this food again :)

Gol Gappa was amazing. Best I have in U.S. or Canada. They can bring them to your table or you can eat standing at their counter which is fun. Their Chicken Tikka Kathi Roll was excellent too. Also tried their Papdi Chaat with Bhalla which was okay; I had better before.

Awesome food but the owner of the restaurant is very rude and doesn’t know how to treat a customer. Unless he changes his attitude, this may be my last visit.

I live in Seattle and make it a point to visit this eatery on every trip to Vancouver. Apna Chaat House has authentic chaat — Mumbai(Bombay) style. I’ve sampled several dishes — sev puri, dahi puri, pav bhajji, chole, and more. The Royal Falooda is one of the best I’ve had. anywhere(including in India)! The restaurant ambiance reminds me of local restaurants in Mumbai… bright, cheerful and small, cozy. A must visit!

One of our more regularly visited joints. Their paav bhaaji, aloo tikki burgers and their triple Sichuan are crave worthy. We have tried quite a fee items from the menu and we keep going back for the triple Sichuan. Most people also find their gol guppe(paani puri) decent. Kulfi Faluda is okay but I have had better at chaat n roll in redmond, wa. All in all when craving chaat, this is the only place I will pay money for it in the lower mainland. If I had the option I will always pick chaat n roll in Redmond over this but they are alas too far a drive away.

Small decent spot with a menu full of Indian chaats and fast foods. Décor is simple with Indian food posters but the place is a bit cramped with tables being a bit too close to each other. Just stopped in for dessert after a heavy Indian meal elsewhere and got the malai kulfi. The texture was good but was frozen with ice bits coming thru in some bites. Kulfi pieces were served in a cup with a plastic spoon and it was a struggle to navigate the hard kulfi pieces. Kulfi tasted fine and seemed to be made in house, definitely worth a try but don’t suppose I would go out of my way to reach here for the kulfi. I would like to come by to try their food but again don’t suppose it is worth a drive to get here if you are not in the vicinity.

This was an amazing place. we were on our way back from Vancouver to Seattle and decide to have chat. We had vada pav, chole kulcha, papdi chat, kaathi roll and these were as great as they can get. The tasted very good with the right amount of spice and i will definitely grab vada pav and chole kulcha the next time i go there. The bread was so soft and every bite was tasteful and flavorful. We also had falooda and pani puri but i did not feel that excited about them. In general its a wonderful place to have indian chat. The place was small and we had to wait for almost 30 mins to get a seat and the food but it was worth the wait. The price is little on the high side but it was all worth it.

We were unfamiliar with Indian street food so we ventured to this small restaurant as we were shopping nearby. As we entered the restaurant, the hostess/cashier could tell we looked lost as we were not aware we were suppose to order and pay first then seat ourselves. She told us we can seat ourselves and look over the menu. Each table had the menu printed on it. There was a menu above the cash register as well. There were photos of food plastered on the walls. The hostess/cashier was very helpful in explaining what was in each dish and informed us that it was authentic spices when we ordered. Food arrived fast! It was definitely different from the usual North Indian cuisine I have often dined in the area. I do like my curries and the spices in the curry was very flavourful. The bread was buttered up generously. The chia tea was nicely spiced as I can taste the cinnamon and cloves. The ambiance can use some improvement. All I can see was yellow everywhere! Restaurant looked clean and tidy. It is the food that counts anyways! Service was lovely. Need to try some more food items before I can give this place 5 stars.
