I booked a make up application appointment here for a formal event. My make up artist was very nice and attempted to help me with a make up look to match my dress. She took her time to apply my make up. I thought it would take an hour, but it took longer than that. Thank goodness I was not in a hurry! I am giving 3 stars because of the make up products and lashes. NYX face products, Pink Orchid eyeshadows and City Colour eyebrow pencils. NYX actually makes some decent eye pencils I believe. However, the City Colour pencils are horrible and makes you look like you have overdrawn brows of the drag queen type. I think most people want natural looking brows unless I missed out on a make up trend. The eyeshadows turned out to be good quality although I am also not familiar with the brand. Lashes are not included and you have to purchase a set of lashes in the store. I think better make up products should be used for this price when you compare to other stores in the mall. MAC and Sephora offer make up services with the purchase of $ 50 worth of products. I was hoping this place would provide better make up service because I get a lipstick instead of more products. Also, I was thinking it would be a NYX lip product as the make up application was mostly this brand but it turned out to be a True Fiction matte lipstick. It was a brand I am not familiar with and the product turned out to be a surprisingly decent product. The store carries an extensive collection of NYX products plus other unique brands. My favourite is the Kevin Aucoin products but it is a completely different price point from any of the make up products used.

I used to absolutely love this store when they first opened. They had so many amazing products with such an affordable price. However, ever since the location changed and the store became bigger. Everything amazing about it went down the drain. The customer service is not the best. Some of the girls are not approachable. 90% of the NYX products are always out of stock. They say that the products will be restocked but it’s never happened. I’ve called in and even come in so many times and they are never are in stock of the products. I’ve been waiting for my shade in the NYXHD foundation for over a year. Sometimes(20% of the time), the sales are actually worth it but most of the time. The least bought products are the only ones that make the sale. I had a lot of hope in this store but unfortunately it is no longer at the top of my list. I find more products of NYX from drugstores or grocery stores :(

The good: the selection of NYX is amazing. The fact that they sell Sugarpill got me so hooked! I thought the previous location was adorable and so cool. Most of the time the employees have been nice and pretty helpful. The bad: dat jewelry doe. get rid of it. you look like a cheap dollar store will all this junk among beautiful make up brands. an employee kept scoffing at my makeup choices as «safe», ok… it’s Sugarpill it is all weird actually… it was odd so I left. the location is too big and filled with superfluous non-sense like head bands and scarves. nope. The ugly: the had to shut down their Facebook bc a fired employee called them out for some nasty, homophobic comments. another previous employee was kicked out for slander and famous Youtuber ssssamanthaa was fired there 2 years ago and they tweeted her saying this has nothing to do w her when she called them out recently. take the high road and STFU Funk N Frost. I will be boycotting. bc I am gay. and my coworker knows the dude who was called names and states he simply isnt the kind of person to fabricate such things.

I’m a really big make up fan and since funk n’ frost moved location they have gone down hill. They look like a discount store. Their store isn’t very organized and they are always out of a lot of product. The staff there seem a little stuck up for no reason. I mean this isn’t Mac or Sephora… So cool your jets. Their eyeliners dry up really fast. Mine dried up after 1 week of using it and when I brought it up to one of the employees they were very condensing towards me. Whatever happened to good customer service?

I like the fact that this store is in Surrey. I used to go to the Lougheed mall location before they moved. The store is really cute, and they have a variety of things like jewelry, nail polish, and makeup! They carry a lot of different and neat brands. I also noticed that they offer eyelash extensions as well. The only thing I find off-setting is that service can be hit and miss. I’ll walk in one day and get a friendly greeting, and other days I walk in and get completely ignored. Sometimes I’m not sure if some of the staff even wants to be there. Certain brands require you to ask staff to get the product for you, and on days when service isn’t too friendly, I get nervous even asking for help. I had one item at the cashier counter to buy, and I honestly felt really stupid. I let the cashier know which item I was buying since there were two items. I got the ‘Really, you’re not gonna buy this?’ look from her with the second item, and it wasn’t even mine to begin with! Super embarrassed Anyway, aside from some people working there, this place is still worth a look, and the products are reasonably priced. Take a look at FnF lip colors. They’re great!

I love NYX products, when I first heard about this store I was positive I was going to love it! But that didn’t last long. What matters most to a customer? Products and customer service. Funk n Frost has some great brands like NYX and Geisha, also they carry Pink Orchid merchandise(stay away from their lipsticks– extremely dry formula), but horrendous customer service. They try to push customer’s to buy products, say it’s okay to bring back if need be, then when you go in to return something, it is a straight up no. I have been to this store 3 – 4 times. Each time I have left with multiple purchases, which always turn out to be disappointing. I’ve finally learned my lesson– a big no to stepping foot into this store! Funk n Frost is overpriced to begin with, but add horrible customer service to that and well… it’s just a no! Tip If you want NYX products– try Target or London Drugs!(Definitely cheaper and good return/exchange warranty)

I LOVE this store! It’s truly a gem in Guildford Mall! Their prices are amazing, and they carry almost everything your makeup kit needs for a fraction of the price compared to MAC and Sephora. They also have beautiful jewelry.
