Quality & Authenticity
Overall, their food is fresh and very decent, but not authentic. I was born and raised Japan; so, I know authentic Japanese food.
Service
Friendly but slow. It can be painfully slow sometimes.
«Cost Performance»
Their food is decent and reasonably priced. Particularly with the current exchange rate, I have to say the cost performance is high.
Final Thoughts
Why do I go to Maguroguy? Why do I do that even though their food is not authentic? It’s mostly because of the cost performance and because I live in Bellingham. I’m deprived of Japanese food, and Maguroguy is only 30 minutes away. For these reasons, I thought about giving four stars, but I had to take one star off for their service.

Best sushi in the South Surrey area and then some. I always get take out and it’s quick. Eat here and you won’t be disappointed.

Lack of pictures on the menu limits customers choices.
Sushi is just ok. Bland, not impressive.
Never once asked if we wanted something to drink.
Refused to provide hot peppers. Said they needed them for other menu items and could not sell us them on the side.
Bathroom is dirty.
Atmosphere low budget.
Overall nothing worth returning for.
If you love sushi, you will be disappointed.
Far better choices near by.

Pretty good sushi especially for the price. The oysters were also delicious! I recommend the Crazy Roll, it was different than any sushi I’ve ever tried, but very tasty! Fast service at lunch as well, we had our food inside of five minutes easily.

Great lively restaurant. We liked their interior. Reasonable price. We ordered a bento combo — a great value! –and some nigiri. The nigiri was large and nicely presented. The fish was fresh, but the rice didn’t have any sushi flavor, which was very disappointing. May not satisfy someone who has had the real thing, but perhaps good enough for someone trying sushi for the first time.

Excellent food, service and very affordable pricing. We had tuna, salmon, toro, surf clam sushi, ginger beef and vege udon. They were all excellent and all came under 30 bucks. Fish up here is much fresher than any from LA area which makes it more flavorful and cost much cheaper. And service is much better although all Asian crew, LA has running gag on how Asian restaurant has good food bad service and better bring an interpreter. MaguroGuy has good food, great service, and English speaking. I mentioned to my wife that if we have restaurant like MaguroGuy near where we live in LA, I would visit it at least weekly.
It is located miles from the border so definitely drop by before you line up to cross over to US border or drop in right after you cross over to Canada.

First few times I went there I was in love with it.
Since then the customer service has just gotten worse every time I go there; long wait, not very polite, had to ask 3 times to get some water…
It’s kind of upsetting since their food is actually quite good. Hopefully it’ll improve in the future.

Wandered out this way for a friend, this cute little restaurant is tucked away in a small strip mall. Lots of parking and thanks to a reservation we were seated right away. We waited 10 – 15 minutes before tracking down a waiter to take our order, but the rolls were all soooo good! The gyoza were some of the best I have had. The presentation is all immaculate here. I was pleasantly surprised to see Ceviche on the menu, we had the scallop and it was so flavourful and fresh. The plating is really artful. If your out this way you will not be disappointed here!

So impressed! YUM! Was pleasantly surprised. The creamy udon seafood dish was amazing! Well be back!

Ok. Ok food. TERRIBLE service. We waited 20 mins after being sat for drinks and our waitor could barely speak english. Very disappointed. Waste of money and time. Would not recommend at all. Rude workers, they spilt water on my friends lap. A little pricey too.

Good sushi for the price. Always fresh and the presentation is great. Sashimi is served on a bed of Ice. Service there needs to improve. Servers can be rude.

The positive is that the food is delicious. I would go back because of the quality.
The con is that the service was horrible. We never saw our waitress after we ordered and had to flag 3 different people to get anything at our table. The waiters were on the rude unfriendly side but eventually got around to things.
The deep fried ice cream was horrible. The ice cream itself was the size of a golf ball but the batter was twice that size and undercooked while the regular ice cream was cheaper and 3 times the size.
If you want tasty sushi (excluding the dessert) come here but be prepared for terrible service.

I’ve been there once to dine in and once for takeout. Dining in was excellent. We took the servers recommendations and had a few delicious items including a few rolls and a noodle dish. They were very kid friendly too. Very reasonably priced.
When we got takeout I believe we ordered the party sushi platter for 2. Unfortunately we were a little disappointed with it. There was more than enough food for 2 adults and one child but there were a couple unpalatable items. My advice would be to order a la carte.

Favorite sushi in the lower mainland. Reasonably priced and always fresh. Every single person I have taken here has loved it. Staff is friendly, only downfall is that it becomes quite crowded during dinner rush.

This place is a gem! We found it by accident and it’s totally worth it. The restaurant itself looks nice and the servers are very attentive.
Wait is not too long and food is plenty. We were served soups and tempura (ordered Sashimi for two) and had plenty of food to keep my husband and I happy.
My kids each ordered bento boxes. One of them has sushi while the other one came with teriyaki chicken. Everything was cooked pretty well although my kids weren’t as excited with the chicken karaage & this salad with clear noodles, cucumber, shrimp & vinegar. The teriyaki chicken was delicious although on tge sweet side. Price wise, it didn’t break the bank. Is it worth the drive? Totally, dude!

I have to revisit this review and dock a star… the service here is TERRIBLE. While the food is great, you will wait forever for a table, service is curt and inefficient and they miss their pick up times horribly and have no issues leaving you standing in a very cramped and cold lobby for 20+ minutes while waiting for your food. Even if you make a reso, you will still wait for a table…
Previous review, 4 stars: So good! Lives up to my usual sushi expectations, but I’m docking a star because on take out, they left my order sitting on the counter for 10 min while I sat waiting for it…

I was nearby and required some cheap and fast eats. Bingo! This is your place. I was seated asap even though it was a busy weekday around 1pm. The food was good, nothing extravagent, just a chicken teriyaki box. The food was fresh and there was enough for me to take with me as well. I will go back, the food did the job for me.

Pros:
— Good quality sushi
— Very creative and delicious fusion rolls (Bacon Age roll is to die for!)
Cons:
— Service is good overall, little impersonal as you’ll have a few different servers and they’re rushing around keeping up with the rush.
I’d come back here again, you can’t go wrong.

We go here all the time and it is always yummy!
Love the tuna tataki salad, veggie Sunomono (with lots of avocado!) and all of their rolls.
Highly recommend making a reservation because it gets busy.
