Very good flavors but needs an expanded menu. We went there for dinner and drinks. The drink menu seems more extensive and has more choices than the actual food menu. The food especially the Chicken Korma and Lamb Curry was really good, but a bigger and better selection would have been better.

The owner Vikram Vij gave us a very warm and genuine greeting as we first stepped into the restaurant to start things off. As we walked to our booth, we were surrounded by very modern yet authentic to India décor. Felt like a great place to be before we even sat down. Our server was excellent and the food was unique but absolutely delicious. A little on the pricey side for Indian food, but I think coming here that’s to be expected, so no complaints. We had three main dishes, a bottle of red wine($ 10 off for the nightly special), a starter of pakoras and three orders of naan. Total– $ 99. So quite reasonable as this filled my girlfriend and I as well as my two parents. Great spot for almost any occasion!

Food quality 10⁄10 ie. Bit expensive, but worth it. Very filling too. Service 10⁄10 ie. Great hostess. Always asking if the customers needed anything including more water. Atmosphere 8⁄10 ie. Busy and dark. I’d still come back ;) VERY busy restaurant, but worth the visit. I know the chef and he’s a great leader in the kitchen when it comes to getting the food at a high quality and served properly. I’m also a huge fan of Indian food, so this place definitely nailed it.

Dreamy! What a feast for the senses! The house cocktails have clever names with a sense of history. Be sure to try one or two! The appetizers are amazing. We ordered the cashew date & potato kachori. For me it was a bit hot so we got some raita to go on the side. But my hottie husband was in heaven!!! I highly recommend the kachori! For main dishes we ordered the chicken korma and the beef. We also got sides of rice and naan. The chicken is wonderful for dunking naan(which was perfection!!!) and the beef was gone before I could ask my other half how it was… Yeah, it was awesome. The seasonings were amazeballs, the meats were tender. Everything was perfect!!! And since we were there celebrating a special occasion they even gave us a lovely mango ice cream. It was very rich and had a delicious berry topping. Nice one! Our server Kent was really attentive, we enjoyed our time. And sitting on the patio was really the way to go. I noticed some folks got chilly, for them they turned the heater on. They also have blankets!

My husband and I finally tried this restaurant for our anniversary and I am so glad we did. I would have to say this is one of the best Indian restaurants we have tried. The décor was nice and the staff was incredibly friendly and helpful. As it was first time visiting we asked for recommendations and they were all delicious. My husband loves meat dishes and I am a pescatarian so finding a restaurant that can please us both is sometimes hard but this place had a great variety. I have seen some complain of the cost for portion size but I found the value and portion sizes great. With ordering an appetizer, entrée and dessert we both left full and with some food leftover so I didn’t consider anything«small». The Malabar vanilla kulfi ice cream is a must try. Great creative selection on cocktails as well. Definitely will be returning and recommending.

Very good food and smiling service. Tried their set course menu for $ 25 to sample the different food that they had. It was a good deal comparing normally a single main ranges fro $ 13 – 18. The food came out and it was amazing flavour. The food has some kick where it needs and not too overwhelming. The service was always smiling. The only downside was that the portion was a little on the small side.

We ordered: –Specialty drinks –Boar kebabs –Squid –fish pakora –jackfruit curry –saag — short ribs in curry sauce — chicken korma –naan Boar Kebabs were great and i loved that they offered many gluten free items(fish pakoras, rice battered squid). The drinks were fabulous. However, the rest of the food was just okay. I think if you are not indian, and not privy to the taste of good indian food, you would like this place. I feel like the food was indian food catered to a non indian crowd. So if thats what you are looking for, this place is perfect. However, if you are indian, this place doesn’t do justice. Aside from the items mentioned above, the food reminded me of going for dinner at a family members house who is just a decent cook. Really nice atmosphere and great service though.

I wish Unilocal offered multiple rating categories. If they did, I would offer the following: 1-Value, Poor. Small portions at ridiculous prices. 1-Star 2-Quality, Good. Food was tasty, if perhaps a bit bland. 2-Stars 3– Service, Very Good. But they’re always trying to up-sell…can get annoying. 3-Stars 4-Ambiance. Poor. Extremely noisy. My ears were ringing by the end of my meal. 1-Star My $ 70 meal(for two) could have been made at home for about $ 4. Mostly bread, rice, and sauce. There are better values in Surrey for Indian.

Excellent. I’m a regular since it’s only 7 minutes from our home. Easier than driving into Vancouver for Vij’s food. Now that they have takeout my go to meal is sprouted bean salad(memories of street food in India), pork curry and fruit naan. Delicious! We are so fortunate to have this in our neighbourhood!

Hate to say it, but while the food is great, there is way better Indian food in Surrey at a way better price. I would say go once at least to experience a restaurant by Vij. Food is all high quality, service is great but the value is just not there.

I went there last night with my Wife and Good friend for dinner. Walking into the restaurant is a pleasure, it is very well appointed and my wife was looking around all night at the wonderful décor. We started with Samosa’s which were quite tasty even if we were expecting more of the traditional potato filling opposed to spice lamb. When we received our mains though is when we really were impressed with the food. The Chicken Korma was excellent and some of the best we have had, it was a very pleasant surprise and even though the portion was a good size we could not stop picking at it throughout dinner as we all kept coming back for a taste. We also had the Mughlai-style lamb stew which was perfect for the cold night. The spices were not over powering and its rich flavour came through. In addition we had the Ground lamb & wild boar kebabs to nibble on which was a perfect complement to the rest of the meal. Our server was very nice and attentive throughout the meal which just made it a wonderful evening. The prices were very reasonable, even though I had seen it was on the expensive side compared to PEI it was a steal for some great food and enjoyable evening out.

We live in Vancouver and have visited Vijs a number of times so figured it was about time we ventured out to try My Shanti. The wait was much shorter than at Vijs(on a Saturday evening we only waited about 20 minutes for a table). We were a group of 4 and tried the fish pakoras, chicken korma, chicken biriani, pork, lamb and cauliflower and potato. All of the food was delicious but the standouts for me were the pork, lamb and the naan. Our waitress was extremely knowledgable about the menu and made good recommendations, and Vikram checked in himself several times during the night. Overall a great dining experience and I would go back.

Was driving around the neighbourhood looking for a random place to eat and the exterior caught my eye and drew me to this place. I was pleasantly in awe as soon as I step inside. The décor and design of the space is amazing. The service was above par. And the food was fantastic. It felt like I was in another country. So glad I stumbled upon this place.

Came here with family. Was hoping to see vikram but sadly he wasn’t there that night. Our server was excellent. Very attentive — always filling our water. He gave great recommendations and made sure that we were happy with our selections. It’s a nice addition to the Vij group of restaurants. We found prices a lot cheaper than the Granville location but the food was just as delicious. Be warned — there are no lamb lollipops here! Definitely will be coming back(especially if I’m in the area!)

An enchanting place to eat! The restaurant itself is a wonderful journey through India with so many wonderful details put into the décor, dish-wear and ambiance. It brought back many memories of being in different parts of India. The food was splendid, a complete treat for the palette. The one stand out surprise that we loved were the lamb and wild boar kebabs. Our night here was only made better by having many wonderful conversations with Vikram that made you feel like you were eating in his home. A real journey for the senses.

Dined at My Shanti for the first time last night with my husband. The restaurant is beautiful. Love everything about the décor. The staffs were friendly. We arrived an hour before closing but we didn’t feel like they were rushing us in any way. The chef even came out to greet us at the end of our meal. The waitress was very attentive. My fave dish was their Jalandhari sprouted bean salad with toasted almonds.

What a wonderful foodie experience! Our Servers were smiling and efficient even though the restaurant was packed, you could not tell from the service we received. The Malabar Vanilla ice-cream with Salty Caramel Sauce, had just enough of sweet and just enough salty. I could not get enough of it. It is my favourite dish on the menu! I also asked if they retail the ice-cream and caramel sauce… no luck. Great atmosphere and the decorations come right out a a Bollywood movie!

I really liked this place, and I would come back. It is what I would classify as good and creative Indian food. What made the experience great was Vij walking around greeting everyone, taking great pride in what he does. It was so cool to see a successful entrepreneur taking the time to meet and greet customers. If I could give it 4.5 stars, I would have. The reason I can’t give it five is because the price of the food and alcohol is pretty high for the amount you get… but trust me I get it. If your restaurant has a line out the door 365 days a year and you need to hire extra staff and turn over tables crazy fast, you need to charge more. Not to mention, he can charge more, so why wouldn’t he… people pay it. Overall I say thank you for the great experience and I’ll come back, just not as often as I would like because of the price and the line up. Thanks again

Yay! I’m a fan because Vij strollling around, chatting people up, and being so friendly was truly a treat. The food was just«OK» for me. We had the boar kababs and were not wowed — they were actually pretty dry. I did rather love my green chick pea dish, but not enough to go back and pay the premium for it. In fact, the more I ponder this review, I think the real issue isn’t the food, it’s the fact that I paid a premium for a cocktail with gin that was so weak, I truly questioned whether there was gin in it. But it was pretty darn cool to see Vij strolling around.
