This place is horrible, the roast lamb was tasteless, the portions were average and the service was below average. My wife ordered a spinach phylo and it was cold inside, I definitely would rather eat at My Greek down the road.

Tried this place for the first time last week. Had the Calamari Platter. All good. Friendly staff. But I just don’t get how«New York New York» reflects the Greek culture. It would be like a Chinese restaurant calling themselves«New Delhi New Delhi».

I live in the area but have only been here once before last night It was my son’s 18th birthday yesterday and I have him a whack of options for dinner. Since he had never been to New York New York, this is where he chose. And boy oh boy was it worth it. Kalamari and tiger prawns to start. I have never had calamari taste that good and fresh. Lightly deep fried so they aren’t overly greasy like alot of places. And the garlic tiger prawns? Never have I had any better. Then the Greek platter for 2. Greek salad(with awesome amount of feta, not stingy here), potatoes, rice, pita, dolmades, chicken souvlaki and lamb chops. Every single bite was absolute heaven. Fresh, flavourful, perfection. Normally we go to Stepho’s downtown but I didn’t want to attempt it from Surrey in rush hour. So the prices were higher for sure but it was SO worth it. Absolutely delicious, quality Greek food. And the service was awesome too! Very friendly, very attentive, and quick too!

Yesterday evening I went for a casual dinner date here. It was quite busy so we called ahead and made a reservation for 730. We didn’t have to wait past 730 which was nice to get in on time. A very lively restaurant with professional and friendly servers. I ordered Chicken Parmigiano. I think I spelled that correct. At first, it tasted great. But after a couple bites in I notice the chicken start to take on a rubbery texture. Because I was in dim light I was unaware that the chicken I was eating was still very much pink in color and was not thoroughly cooked through. After taking a closer look I was in fact eating still Raw chicken. Gross. But, mistakes do happen. I call over the waitress and I show her what I’ve been eating and she immediately apologized profusely and says let me take care of that for you. About 5 minutes later she comes back and tells me her and her father, whom I’m guessing is the owner of the restaurant, looked closely at the chicken and informed me that the chicken was«not raw, but yes slightly undercooked, so here enjoy a fresh plate of sides that havnt been contaminated». After hearing this I told them that chicken must reach a certain temperature to be considered safe to eat and that I could get very sick. Not to mention, undercooked chicken is technically«raw«chicken. I couldn’t believe I was having this conversation with a server about how chicken is unsafe to eat if not cooked thoroughly. Eventually, they came out with a dessert on the house and then told me my portion of the bill would be taken care of «because I didn’t eat my meal». I wanted to respond and say the least I expect is my portion of the bill should be covered as this is how people get food poisoning, but I held my tongue as to avoid any unnecessary confrontation. Unfortunately it wasn’t the quality of food or customer service I was hoping for in my visit to their restaurant. This was my first time and last time.

I live next to them and use to order food to go 3 times a week. Roast lamb, good enough for two people with an order of appetizer. Other dishes good as well!

Tried this place awhile ago, and they were super packed. First thing we got asked was if we had a reservation. We didn’t but were able to be seated quickly. Food was OK, but over priced for the quality and quantity. It’s located in a strange strip mall area with limited parking

Good food, good service. The quality is usually consistent and the portions are generous. Some days(depending if you go at lunch or dinner) you might get different cooks so they food isn’t like the last time but it is still good. This is a regular place for us to eat. Once my chicken souvlaki was very dry and once my stomach was upset after eating there. Another time I had to send the rice and potatoes back because they were cool. This is what I mean by a consistency thing but when you compare to how often we eat here(several times a month for years) it is all relevant. It did, however, cause me to give 4⁄5 starts instead of 5. Unlimited coffee, large portions of Greek salad, nice and lemony potatoes, and the lamb Astoria is delicious(but often results in leftovers for another meal the next day!)

The food here is delicious and the service is nice. However, I rarely come here even though I live 5 minutes away. I find them to be expensive for the portions which are on the small side.

We have eaten here a handful of times. Each time we’ve eaten here the service and food have been very, very good. The lamb shoulder is tender and very filling. Calamari and souvlaki plates are very tasty. Definitely worth a try.

It was a really great experience! We enjoyed the food we ordered. Very tasty and fresh! We were greeted when we entered the restaurant. We were seated really fast. The place was really clean as well. It’s our first time here at New York New York Greek Restaurant. Our server was super friendly and has a very positive voice and very energetic as well. For our appetizer, we ordered the Spanakopitakia(spinach roll) & Keftedakia(greek meatballs). They were VERY yummy! The Spanakopita has a really crunchy crispy layer-like biscuit and inside is a spinach and maybe some cheese as well. It was really delicious. The Keftedakias were really yummy as well. We were like carnivores! We finished it really fast! It was a tender meatballs of lean ground beef with some greek herbs in it and maybe some cucumbers as well. It’s garnished with parsley leaves and chopped red onions. It goes really well with the tzatziki dip that’s included with this appy. For our main course, we ordered their Calamari Platter & Chicken Parmegiano. They’re really good! 10⁄10. The calamari was really tasty and weren’t chewy. They were really easy to eat. The greek salad that comes with it was very fresh as well. The food was hot when it was serve to us. Our servers were all very nice and always smile to customers giving the place a positive atmosphere. The portion was really big and we couldn’t finish it. Lot’s of left overs lol, so we had to get them packed up so we can bring them home. We will definitely come back here to try out their other menus.

We were excited to go to this place but it was awful. It started by being put up against the window and it was pretty hot, but whatever. The server came over with a bright smile and was very sweet. We ordered 2 saganaki to start. I took a piece of the end and it wasn’t terrible till i noticed a short amd curly baked into it. I should have left right then and there. I asked the server to take that off the bill and she apologized; however, no manager came to the table. The server insisted they are all netted back there but i just said that ain’t head hair. The food came and it was not good. My husband’s lamb was no good, my steak was rubber. The rice was cold, the potatoes were hard as a rock. It was just discusting. And in the end it was like 70 bucks. The server was really nice and I think judging by our faces she didnt want to came back to the table… i don’t blame her at all but the food was nasty. Save your cash and go to Greek Islands…

Food — Excellent food. I had the Roast Lamb a L’Astoria and boyfriend had the Veal Schnitzel and both were very tender and seasoned well. Everything tasted just right and fresh — from the potato to the rice to the salad. Even the lemon wedges that came with our hot water were super juicy. Good quantity, I couldn’t finish my lamb plate. Dessert — I ordered the Ecmek. I could tell this dessert could have easily been too sweet or too cinnamon-y but there was a good balance and no single taste was too annoying. It was so delicious — I almost finished the whole thing myself. Service — 5⁄5. Fast, friendly, not overly attentive. Professional. Atmosphere — 5⁄5. Love the trees in the restaurant. Classy tablecloth /napkin setup and colours. Highly recommend if you’re in the neighbourhood.

Wow. Just wow. The roast lamb here, by itself, is worth a full 5⁄5 star Unilocal review. I was beside myself for the entire dining experience, shocked at how flavorfully delicious and perfectly cooked it was(and this is coming from someone who actually spent the last six years in New York, New York). Order the lamb and prepare your mouth to enter Greek heaven. Vegetarians need not apply.

Why did I not discover this place sooner? It’s the best place for Greek food. Not just is Surrey but the whole lower mainland. Awesome.

Food is okay, but it’s wayy to expensive. For the dinner menu typically is $ 15 and up for not a lot of food, which is sad because Greek restaurants are usually known for having big potions. The food is decent and if I were craving greek food enough I would probably go there because it’s in a prime location for me. However the price is way to high for the quality and quantity of the food. The service is also not always that great, I have had some rude servers occasionally. The ambiance is also slightly off putting, the seats have plastic on them which I don’t really enjoy.

The best Greek place I have been to in Surrey. Roast lamb is an excellent choice at New York, New York. Attention to detail is evident given the cripsy exterior and perfectly cooked tender inside on every piece of lamb I have received. The calamari is just as good as the roast lamb. A thin crispy exterior cover the tender squid inside. The portions at New York, New York are generous. You will not leave feeling hungry as a platter comes with a tasty rice pilaf, pita, and potatoes. The ambience is nothing special. Circa late 1990s booths and décor. Not kitschy greek blue and white either. This is not a trendy, hipster place, but a straight forward«old school» restaurant. What is holding back New York, New York from a 5 star review in my mind is the price. The quality is very good, but their prices seem to be at least $ 5 more for their platters than other places. That kind of price difference adds up pretty quickly, and makes New York, New York more of a «once in a while» place then a staple when our family goes out for dinner.

Ate here for lunch and it was pretty good! Had the chicken souvlaki and it was good! The restaurant listing says its ethnic food but really it’s a Greek restaurant. That’s what’s on the menu anyways. Atmosphere is just okay, nothing special. The location is also a bit odd, but overall it’s pretty good! Pita bread and tzatziki sauce is awesome! Salad and potatoes were a bit oily so I would say order low oil of you’re watching what you eat.

My girlfriend(a Surrey local) has been passing by the Big Apple-themed«New York New York Greek Restaurant» in for years, but she’s never eaten there. A friend of ours mentioned that NYNY was a great restaurant, and we decided to give it a whirl based on their recommendation. The result? A delicious and decently priced Greek dinner! We arrived like a couple of old people at 6:15pm, and sat down to an empty restaurant. It was empty like the first half of an episode of Chef Ramsey’s «Kitchen Nightmare.» I was a little nervous because an empty restaurant is a bad sign. But by the time we left at 7:30, it was packed with people — and I was glad to see it packed, because the food was really solid. We enjoyed a delicious and light calamari appetizer. They were lightly battered and really tender. We both thought they were really well cooked. My girlfriend ordered a chicken souvlaki and I ordered the Roast Lamb a L’Astoria. We both loved the rice and our salads were loaded with Feta cheese. Some places skimp on the Feta, and that’s weak… My girlfriend also loved the tzatziki, but I’m not a big fan of dill. The bone-in lamb shoulder was cooked perfectly. Nice crispy, charred edges and perfectly pink and juicy on the inside. NYNY uses garlic, lemon and a secret house blend of spices; the flavor was different from the lamb at Pelagos, but it was still A+. To compare, I’d say the Pelagos lamb was more juicy, like stewed beef, while the NYNY lamb was firmer like roasted ribs.
