OEC Sushi

Ordered lunch from OEC today ! Had ordered food from OEC when it was last ownership and was sad to see a good jap restaurant close when it was closed back in march, 2015. now it’s under new management thought we’d give it a try, I’m glad we did! food is great and service is good too! very glad to have this place back on our lunch menu!
Gonna be calling in for more lunches in the future.

New ownership but still great quality and good portions. I found my new local sushi place :)

I can’t think of any adjectives that would accurately describe how amazing this place was. The sushi isn’t 80% rice like most places, instead it is a thin layer packed full of fresh & delicious ingredients. The staff and food was deserving of a very generous tip. So a very generous tip they got. The waitress was so humble and sweet that she handed the bill back to me and said she couldn’t take it, it was too much. After refusing to take it back and thanking her and everyone else for being such awesome human beings, she covered her hands over her mouth in excitement and thanked me more times than I could count. If I could give this place 10 stars I would.

I’m here because of the great reviews that have been posted about this place. I can attest to the fact that all of the wonderful reviews are BANG on! The sushi is stellar, fresh and not overloaded with rice which is what many sushi spots will do to try and impress their customers. Don’t think for a minute that foodies everywhere will be fooled. The sign of a great sushi restaurant is determined by the quality and the effort that is put into preparing good food. Price doesn’t have anything to do with good. You can charge exorbitant prices for crap. This place is not like that. They are authentic and sincere in serving their customers top notch fare!!! And yes they have Japanese sushi chefs. So if you live in the area and are wondering if these guys stack up against Vancouver or Richmond sushi joints, the answer is hell yeah! The décor is appropriate, the washrooms are clean and the ambiance is right on. I will have no hesitation about driving out of my way to come here. I’m so glad to have done so today. Damn they are good, nicest people and very fresh ingredients. I live in downtown but anytime I go to US I’ll stop here from now on. Salmon maki was great. I love OEC roll was good too.

To say this place surprised me would be an understatement.
— They have an impressive menu of special rolls
— The yakitori was delicious
— The tempura isn’t overly breaded and was cooked perectly
— The miso soup was DELICIOUS!
— They gave us complimentary spring rolls while we wanted for our food
This place has instantly become one of my favourite sushi joints in surrey. I’ll definitely be coming back!

The owners of this restaurant are always so kind and passionate about the food they serve. We’ve even gotten free food for they service being a little slower then usual due to a busy period of the day. Definitely would recommend!

Food was good, owner was nice, free miso soup, free spring rolls! Even give us a free tea bag cause my boyfriend liked the tea!

Came here for take out. Owners were very friendly and food was really awesome — and so cheap — $ 23 for three specialty rolls. If I lived nearby I’d be coming regularly.

OEC is a bit of a hole in the wall, but it seems like a lot of places in Cloverdale fit that bill — I don’t eat there often.
We dropped the kids off at their grandma’s in Surrey and deliberately visited OEC based on its Unilocal!reviews. It did not disappoint. This is the kind of place worth making a destination out of.
The service was friendly and engaging. English wasn’t their strong suit, but they made up for it with warmth, kindness, and deliberate attention. They were so impressed we came all the way from the north side of the Fraser to visit their restaurant and thanked us for coming all that way upon leaving.
We got an assortment of rolls and sashimi. The food was very good. Was it Tojo’s? No, but it wasn’t your run of the mill mediocre Vancouver lunch sushi either — It’s just very good.
So very good food and top notch service makes this one of the top sushi joints I’ve ever been to. Will be back.
Also, their drink specials are very good.

Try the I Love OEC roll!

There are three sushi restaurants in downtown Cloverdale. This is by far the best. Fresh ingredients, friendly service, and good price points.

I walked in to order takeaway. While waiting, I was given a complimentary piece of yummy, yummy sushi. No name, just spur of the moment creation apparently. Then a few minutes later they invited me to sit down to tea while I waited. The sushi-​chef was very pleasant.
I’ve not dined in so far, but it looks nice and welcoming.
I’ll definitely be back!

Always the best! the most wonderful family run restaurant. They are always so pleasant. Food is great and so are the prices. Fish is always very fresh.

The food is great and being a customer for several years it is nice to be greeted as if we are family when we arrive. We have family from out of town that always ask to go to OEC, they are open for lunch and dinner. It can get very busy on weekends so sometime we choose to call in and pick up our dinner, our favourites, Agadashi Tofu and Dynamite rolls. They even have a kids combo that our 4 and 7 year old nieces love.
They nearly always give us an extra dish, it is always a surprise and always delicious.
