Peace Portal Golf Course

With the exchange rate favoring the U.S. at the moment we decided to try our golf swing just across the border.
This old course has some real character that I really enjoyed. The clubhouse is a out of date but adds to the fun of it all. Its a real old time bar and dining area with a nice big fireplace. The staff were all very friendly and seemed enthusiastic about their work.
I was not expecting conditioning this good from a public course. It was really quite excellent. The greens were immaculate and on par or better than some of the private courses around. As others have mentioned the course has a lot of hills and I wouldn’t walk this course unless you are in pretty good shape or just like to punish yourself.
You’re score will likely drop significantly in a second round because sometimes you are hitting blindly and the first time is really just getting a feel for the course.
Overall, a great course with real charm and I look forward to going back at some point.

I cannot recommend this golf course, at all. one star because that is the highest rating I can give it.
The course itself is fine and was in relatively good shape.
However, the pace was very slow… 5 hour round… I understand that happens.
What I can’t abide is the lack of staff response. We were hit into no less than 7 times on the front nine. Once is an accident, twice is poor judgement and anything after that is sheer douchbaggery.
I reported this after the front nine. It continued, until the 14^th hole when I called the pro shop, because I was very nearly hit.“the ball landed 6 feet behind me, bounced up and nearly hit me.
FINALLY, some concern for the safety of my foursome. but it was too little too late.
I go into the pro shop afterwards, and while apologetic, the clerk said that the foursome behind had a different story.
It has left a very poor taste in my mouth, I will not be back. nor will anyone I know. nor will the group of twenty golfers that I golf with regularly

I enjoyed this course for its layout and the fact that there are a lot of twists and turns on the course. This course really tests your knowledge of your clubs and distances as with the elevated tee boxes and greens you are always trying to figure out if its a one or two club up or down based on the elevation changes. Our group also had lunch at the club house and the food was decent.
Where this course fell short was the maintenance. Despite overnight rainfall the fairways and the course in general felt very dry and placing your shot on the fairway did not feel rewarding as you were faced with hitting from a very solid lie where one would wonder if you are hitting from concrete as we all found it difficuly to get the club under the ball on fairway. The tee boxes were well used with it being s challenge to find a decent place to tee off. It would have been nice if the tee off locations would be rotated and moved more often to provide a better quality launch location.
