My daughter and I decided to try Indian food. We’re not Indian and generally our only experience has been the samosas that Safeway sells in their deli. Hardly a representative of the Indian cuisine as a whole. So I posted on Facebook and asked for recommendations for a good Indian restaurant. Living in Surrey, there is a multitude of choices, but I wanted to go to a good one! I noticed that all of my Indian friends recommended Tasty Indian Bistro. I figured that as these friends grew up with the cuisine, that they should know what’s good. And they did! The ambiance is, as another reviewer said, elegant. And the food… Omg the food! It was so very good. We ordered Butter Chicken, a vegetable curry, rice and naam. My daughter and I ate a lot. We cleaned our plates. And we vowed to go back. I loved the entire experience from the atmosphere, the friendly staff, the pillows, and of course the food. You can’t go wrong at Tasty Indian Bistro.

This is simply the best Indian Restaurant in the Lower Mainland. From the moment you are greeted at the door and seated one has a feeling of being at a friend’s home for dinner. Very pleasant and efficient service and the butter chicken is delightful! There is an excellent vegetarian selection and dishes are reflective of the region.

Simply outstanding. This place is the real thing. Great service, nice ambiance and amazing food. If you want to treat yourself this is it. We always try different plates to share and never have been disappointed. The prices are very reasonable for the quality and abundance of what you’ll get. Check out their menu online before you go.

Great décor, delicious food, and great service! A bit on the expensive side when your talking about Indian restaurants. But worth it! I’ve been here a couple times with family for dinner and we enjoyed our experience both times. The staff was very accommodating to any special requests we made regarding food and also we were on a time crunch the second time and they brought everything out in a very timely manner and we were able to make the movie at strawberry hill cinema on time!

Beautiful and very spacious interior. This place definitely has the look of an upscale restaurant. It has two bars and serves happy hour from 3−6pm, I believe. There are three rooms and they try to sparse out the diners so not to overwhelm one particular server. We came here for a company lunch and there were a reasonable amount of diners. Not as packed as for dinner, my coworker says. For the 6 of us, we ordered 3 mains and 5 garlic naans, side of rice and raita. It was just enough. Not too much nor too little. Due to our coworker being east Indian, she knew the secrets of ordering so we let her go at it. Apart from the curries, she also ordered stuffed mushrooms with mint sauce as an appy. Can’t seem to find it on the menu but I’m sure they will know what you mean when you say stuffed mushrooms with the mint sauce. This was different and surprisingly tasty. It had a subtle hint of spice with a sourness that mellows out with the mint sauce. We ordered butter chicken(4⁄5), palak paneer(3.5÷5) and Prawn Sahi Masala(3⁄5). You can adjust your spice level if you can’t take the heat or prefer to go crazy on it. We settled for medium to accommodate everyone’s spice level. We even ordered a side of raita to help those who still thought it was too spicy. Of the three dishes, my and most of my cowork’s favourite was the butter chicken. It was sweet with a hint of spiciness after. The palak paneer has been one of my go-to dishes but I haven’t really had my dose of East Indian food for awhile so I almost forgot how it tasted like. Upon trying it again, it tastes rather different and I wondered if it was because last time I had it, it was from a Hindi place. But my coworker confirmed that different restaurants have different styles of making the dish. The paneer was soft and was enjoyable to eat with the spinach sauce. I found myself going for more as I got used to the taste. This dish is not spicy. The Prawn Sahi Masala was one of my other coworker’s favourite but for me, it was my least. It was spicier than the other two but honestly that wasn’t the reason why I didn’t like it. Not sure why but I feel curries should be served with meat and seafood just doesn’t do it for me. Later on I realized the dish had some shredded ginger. This may have contributed to my dislike for this dish. Don’t get me wrong, it’s not bad, just that I won’t order it again. Sides: My coworker was raving about the garlic naan, but personally I much prefer the regular naan. So I’d ordering that the next time I come. I also noticed the rice here is a bit different. It’s not the long basmati rice but rather a mixed between regular rice and the basmati rice. As side from the food, I ordered a Faluda Shake which as the description says«Indian kulfi with rice noodles served with chilled cream». It came out before our appy and mains and it looked more like a dessert than a shake. Made me felt a bit odd but I had to sample and devour it before the ice cream melted. Served in a cocktail glass with two scoops of kulfi with pistachios, some cream and rice noodles at the bottom. I didn’t like the rice noodles too much especially since some were still in it’s dried form(I guess it wasn’t cooked thoroughly). But the drink/dessert was pretty good. It was creamy as it should be and not overly sweet. Though, I’d suggest ordering this as a dessert than a drink. Definite worth a try if you’re in the area.

Tasty Indian Bistro is one of the best Indian restaurants I’ve been to. Everything about the restaurant was good from ambience, background songs, people to mainly food. Naan was very soft, very. Falooda shake was really good.

A friend of mine has raved about this place so we made plans to meet for dinner. Living in North Vancouver it is a ways to go, but was it ever worth it. Such fresh food that was just the right amount of spicy. Service was great and the ambiance was as well. Very clean and well run.

I love this place! Waaay out of the way from where my boyfriend lives, but worth the drive. Best Indian food I’ve had so far, the prices are reasonable, the service is top notch. The atmosphere is very different from other Indian places I’ve been to. The atmosphere is like a lounge, and very lively. Sometimes I often drift into a day dream fantasizing about being a Bollywood movie and people are gonna break out into song and dance. The one mistake my boyfriend I keep making is that we order appies, thinking that that the main course is not filling enough. The main course are pretty filling alone. We just can’t resist ordering it any ways. I recommend getting their dinner special! You get butter chicken, a piece of chicken(thigh or breast — I think you get the choice), a veggies dish, rice, a choice of Naan and 2 other options and it comes with desert of the day. For $ 17? The portions are on the smaller size, but the amount of food you get, its enough to filling for a meal.

Best Indian restaurant in greater vancouver area. The atmosphere is cactus-club’ish with clean and chic tables and amenities. The service was top-notch! The food was absolutely delish and the prices were beyond reasonable. If you ever can stop by for lunch, I highly recommend the lunch specials if you’re a foreigner. I got the non-vegetarian special and settled for butter chicken as my main and daal for my vegetable curry. It was served with some additional vegetables, 2 tandoori chicken, ample rice, and a generous portion of naan. We were stuffed! We were in awe of the atmosphere and food throughout our meal and vowed to come back when we left.

We’ve been here a couple times, and it has been enjoyable enough. Food and price wise, you’ll find better food and better prices elsewhere. By no means is the food not good, but in North Delta /Surrey there are so many great options and great flavours. The atmosphere is very nice, and the service is very good. It’s a very Keg-ish vibe. We’ll be back!

Best Indian food I’ve had out of India thus far. Everything is of the highest quality and good service as well. They could improve on their parking lot but that’s a testament to its popularity.

I’ve had Indian cuisine 7 times in my life so far and 5 of them were at Tasty’s. I have no complaints with their service nor food. Their tandoori shrimp and mango curry chicken are my favourite. I highly recommend their shrimp dishes if you’re not allergic to seafood. I’ll be making my 8th time here at Tasty’s. That is for sure!

I don’t usually go to Surrey, but when I do it’s to eat Indian food. Tasty Indian Bistro is undoubtedly one of the best overall dining experiences in the Lower Mainland as it has a super chic ambiance and the food is delicious. I think that the food here is the best Indian food I’ve ever had, but I do realize that it is more catered towards Western tastebuds so the flavors and spices are a little downplayed but nevertheless the balance and taste is there. Butter chicken and pudina tandoori are MUST tries here — these two dishes are my go-tos and they are just like a bite of heaven in your mouth. Also try — samosas, caulifower with potatoes, and their large assortment of naans are all good. Like many Indian restaurants, there are plenty of vegetarian dishes(confession: sometimes I go here only for the veggies dishes, although I’m definately a meat eater). Make sure to call for reservations as it gets packed. Great place for parties since they are really big with a private section they can close off as well. Free parking, but sometimes can be hard to snag during busy hours.

Great interior designs with more modern look… For south asians, food might taste little less spicy. Since it is quite popular, expect to wait outside to get a table.

Curry date in Surrey with my classmates at this Bollywood bistro was terrific! It totally defies my definition of good Indian food that is served in a hole-in-the-wall mom and pop shop. I won’t to elaborate on the décor as most reviews already commented on its baller style. We started off with a crispy pappar with green mint chutney — this is the thin crispy chip-like snack that I always love at Indian restaurant. It was less crispy when I had it at the Bistro probably because it is not freshly fried. We then had the vegetable pakoras that are these fried fritters of an assortment of vegetables and potato with two sides of dipping sauce — freshly out of the fryer. Papdi chaat was somewhat refreshing with crispy«crackers» topped with almost salsa-like toppings, yogurt and a pattie that I don’t know what it was. For entrée we shared three dishes: spicy lamb vindaloo simmered in rich sauce, chilli chicken stir-fried with sauce and fresh young ginger, and tandoori fish which are big chunks in a generous portion. The warm buttered and garlic naan bread were just divine to soak up the sauce and I left no sauce behind. We had a bottle of cedar oaks merlot which I’m not sure goes well with India food — any better suggestions for wine pairing? Overall the price per head was roughly $ 35, which is marginally higher than if you go to a mom and pop shop, but the ambiance and servicing justifies it. Cheerio!

I met up with a few friends for lunch here. First time here, the staff was amazingly attentive, given that it wasn’t super busy. The overall feel was upscale, for an Indian restaurant in Delta. The décor is nice and well done. The food was good but found the serving sizes to be on the smaller end but sufficient(unfortunately, no leftovers). We got the butter chicken(classic) and naan’s with Raita(yoghurt). The food was great! A pro-tip: Always get Raita(yoghurt) if you can’t handle the spices like me. It cools the spices down and it’s delicious!

I feel like I’m back in India. Beautiful décor, spacious sitting area and amazing atmosphere. Everything here is perfectly cooked, even taste better than a lot of places in Delhi and Mumbai where I have visited. Super delicious that I couldn’t stop noming. I think this is definitely worth the drive and time. The lunch special is a superb deal, the appetizers are excellent. Extra star for decent price for alcohol ;)
