You don’t come here for a fancy atmosphere or posh evening you come for the cheap drink deals and beer. This is a total dive. But it plays classic oldies all night and has a dj every so often which is fun. Perfect spot for a predrink.

I went with some buddys after walking around Queen West. We got their very early and were among the only people in the bar.(around 8pm). Cool dim lighting and a heavy rock /metal playlist was playing and it was refreshing instead of the top 40 at alot of places. We had the house beer(i forget the name but i think they brew it themslves) it was pretty decent and good price. around 10 more people started filtering in. the crowd is a bit more of a punk /metal crowd which is cool except for all the cigarette-bumming going on as soon as you step outside. Bouncer was cool, bartender with the tattoos was super hot and friendly. for fans of sneaky dees, wide open and hard luck, i’d recommend this place.

Love this bar. Such a great time. We have an urgent problem though. Left my jacket there last night and it has my car keys in it and I have to go home to waterloo now. All of your numbers don’t work. How do I get a hold of you!!!

I’m out of the city now but I truly miss this place. Cheap drinks, good music and unpolished… the way I like it

Dive bar or not, this place was really cool! The décor was lack luster, but the food was delish, and the server was a sweetheart! I had just left the Dog’s Bollocks down the street because of the horrible service, so this was very refreshing. She kept on top of our beers and even came by with more sauce when we were running low. The music was loud, but not too loud that I couldn’t have a conversation. Hip/hop-esque. Ordered spring rolls and samosas. Cheap, filling, and a calm, fun environment. I will definitely be going back.

This place is a true cheap, rundown dive bar. I can’t help but love it though. I work in the neighbourhood and usually always have good service here. It’s one of my work neighbourhood favourites because of its often cheap drink specials with half price wings or feature menu food options. Although I sometimes ponder about the quality and safety of food here, I can’t beat the price and convenience. I’m still a cranky old lady and like coming here before it gets busy… because after 10pm, if there is an event, you have to pay cover. Boo-Urns. If you need a cheap drink and some cheap grub when on Queen West, hit up 751.

Went once when a friend was DJ. They had two different event going on, one on each floor. I hung out on the first floor as did most people. Loved the 751 beer and had lots of fun!

Came on a Saturday night for a friend’s birthday, definitely not what I expected. There was no cover fee, the place is really small — no dance floor. The music does not include top 40, had to ask the DJ to play some hip-hop. Mainly light rock or metal. Expected a lot better. 2⁄5

My biggest beef with this place is that cover goes up from $ 5 to $ 10 after 12. I arrived minutes after 12 and was made to pay double what I was expecting(and I already found it odd that I had to pay anything to be allowed entrance into a dirty hipster bar). Don’t get me wrong, I enjoy places like this from time to time, but not for that price! I went on Motown night(the 1st Saturday of every month) — not exactly my thing, but it made for an upbeat vibe and people were enjoying the novelty of the tunes. I do, however, think that drinks could be cheaper given the cover charge. The crowd was a mix of unwashed-early-20’s-hipster-types and seedy older dudes… so, you know, the ideal combo really. In short, if you plan to check this place out? Arrive before 12 and keep your expectations low.

The promise of Motown music lured me to this bar on a Saturday night. There’s not much to say, except that it is frequented by bearded hipster Jesus types and early 20-somethings. The place is a step above a dive bar only due to the music. Expect to pay $ 5+ for cocktails.

Came here with a friend some time ago on a Friday night, it was a interesting night for sure. To be honest. It wasn’t really my scene but i did had fun. My friend comes here all the time so he knew the crowd, the vibe is kinda dirty, punk kinda scene. I was actually told that every first Friday of every month, these skater kids all get together and come here. I’m not a skater… but my friend is. I usually get along with them tho. I liked the music the DJ was playing. Very punk-ish The drinks weren’t so expensive, The vibe was interesting, friendly weird people all in one place. Especially when everybody’s drunk, even more interesting. They got TV’s in there playing some skater movie from the 80’s. There is also a second level to this place, which is more like an intimate dance party with the DJ. The bathroom’s i didn’t really trust, so i tried to stay away. Not so successful when your drinking but any-who. This bar was more of a dark, punkish, edgy kinda thing. I actually had fun in a weird sort of way. I wouldn’t go out of my way to come here but if i was in the area with my friends then why not. Here’s the thing, If your looking to have a classy night with a date with romance, don’t come here. If your looking to have an edgy, fun, but random night with your friends to get wasted, Voila!

VIBE Dirty. Dilapidated. I get here after midnight and I have to pay a $ 10 cover«for charity.» There was some arm wrestling event here and I think proceeds were going to «some» charity but to charge $ 10AFTER the event is over? NOT cool. In fact, it’s just sneaky. THEGOODS The music was good.(a friend’s Dj was playing). But the crowd was about 23. Yikes. In this dark abyss, the floors were sticky with stale beer. At least they had Heineken. OBLIGATORYCATCHYREMARK Never trust a place that’s just numbers.

Dance party was supposed to start at 10, but the doors were locked so we were forced to sit upstairs while someone played with the sound system. Here’s a hint, if you’re having a problem with the connection, don’t play the music at full blast! Having it cut in and out at top volume is fun for no one! Went downstairs eventually but my group of 10 were the only people there for an hour. That’s not actually a bad thing, but the DJ refused to play our requests. Dude, we were the only people there! Give the people what they want! He did finally agree to play Snoop, but didn’t actually play him until 3 hours later. He spent the first two hours of the night being Quite self indulgent playing his own stuff while people sat around and some awkwardly tried to bob. Eventually,(after midnight) he did start to bring out the hits, but he was a poor mixer with lousy transitions between songs. I’ve been to 751 at least 10 times over the years(although not recently) and usually have a good time, but things definitely seem to have gone downhill. On the plus side, cheap drinks!

There’s only a small handful of places I refuse to go back to… 751 is one of those places. Permanently on my black list. The first time I went here was for someone’s birthday party and I wasn’t very impressed at all. I was never a fan of their previous bar either: The Queenshead. This place is dirty and smells, but I guess those are appealing factors for people who actually enjoy dive bars. I remember spending a lot of time in the basement, which was even more gross than the upstairs. I felt like I was in some dodgy drug dealer’s living room. Again, I guess these are qualities some people look for. Everyone was drinking pitchers of draft because I guess it was inexpensive, but thinking back it makes my stomach turn. The second(and last time) I made an appearance was a little more bearable. The first night was a weekend and rammed full of drunken jocks and the girls they were trying to molest. This time was a weekday and the crowd was thinned out and a lot more polite and well-behaved. The music was dreadful but I just tried to focus on hanging with my friends. I remember sitting at a booth on the main floor and a brutal draft running up my legs, and it was winter time. I was freezing. I stuck with bottled beer this time around though managed to knock down a few shots, which I recall being served in plastic cups. Classy. It has been probably almost two years since I was last here and I’ve had no desire to go back. Anytime I have walked by during the evening I usually hear the usual trash music blaring from the main room, along with a crowd of boisterous barely-legal kids smoking outside. 751 lacks any redeeming qualities in my opinion. Mind you I am 34 years old and have never been a fan of stinky dive bars to begin with.

Denise M’s review is pretty spot on. god I love this place. if you skate and drink you’ve already been here. lurk facebook to find out when the good parties are and go early to avoid clubland length lineups if you’re eating here i suggest the buffalo chicken wrap, it’s actually realllly good.

I can totally understand the bad and good reviews of this place. It can be aweful or amazing dependin on the night and your scene. So the best I can do is describe it for you: 1) definitely divey bar but at LEAST, 2) there are no underage kids. And 3) the crowd is fairly diverse but kinda attracts the white middle class kids that like to dress up(or down) a little grimey to offset their white privilege(if you know what I mean =) 4) They hold dance parties ranging from motown, hip hop, 80 nights, but 5) you have to dance on their«dance floor» that is just really a makeshift space that two girls decide = dancing space when they have had enough drinks and then hordes follow the bouncing up and down, which is 6) an easy scene because they have very VERY cheap drinks, but 7) sometimes the amount of change you get back is in conflict with the board price of the beer but 8) It’s still cheap. So, 9) drink cheap beer and dance on the«dance floor» and 10) you will have a good time.

I found this place completely by accident. I was on my phone trying to find a place I the neighbourhood to meet my friend for a drink. As I wandered Queen Street West, I looked around while talking on the phone when suddenly I looked up and saw«50 on tap». «So how about we meet at 751?» 751 is on the seedier side, with dark wood, dark interior, and tables and chairs that appear to have seen a lot of action over the years. The bar is old, battered, and well-worked in extending the worn and old façade that it has. Downstairs is another thing altogether. By the restrooms, you’ll usually find a DJ of some sort spinning records in a small lounge that could easily be filled at night. DJs appear to play at all times here, even at 5:00pm on a Wednesday. The food is typical pub fare with the big banner outside declaring that two pounds of wings and a pitcher of 50 will cost $ 22.99. If they still have the special on when you go there, take it. Nothing wrong with a nice pint of 50 in a bar that looks like it should serve 50, if you know what I mean.

751 is a combination of a pub and a dance party. During the day, they serve pub fare and in the early evening, it’s a good place to watch the game. At night, they host a variety of local events both upstairs in the more relaxed, pub space, and in the basement, which is more akin to a bar turned dance floor. The space holds about 150 people between two floors, so it’s a great low key spot to dance, eat and drink if you’re group is larger. Personally, I get along well with the bar staff, and I usually pop in on any given night, not knowing what kind of party their hosting for some grub and a beer at the bar while the bartenders serve. There’s a small patio at the back for smoking only and the music ranges between heavy rock to hip hop jams. There isn’t much advertising for events and there is no website, but it’s a great mixed bag when you’re looking to get away from the lineups and the formalities of a dance club.
