So I walked into the Shops at Aura to go to the Marshall’s on the third floor when lo and behold, there was a man at the base of the escalator giving out free samples of macarons. I love French macarons, so I was all over that. The sample was a bit dry, but I figured they were all cut up and maybe sitting on his tray for a while, so I was willing to give the place a chance. Anyway, the man was super enthusiastic and offered to walk me to his shop downstairs. I said that it was OK and that I would be able to find it myself. So I went down the escalator and walked towards the sign that said«food court.» The man ran down the escalator after me and said«no, no, this way» and pointed in the opposite direction behind the escalator. Sure enough, there was his store. So I checked out their selection of macarons which were $ 1.99 each and got a chocolate, a mango and a passion fruit one. The passion fruit macaron was delicious. The macaron had a slight crispy outside which quickly yielded to the soft and chewy inside. The filling was full of passion fruit flavour and it tasted very fresh. Unfortunately, the other two macarons were stale, hard, crumbly and dry. I was so disappointed :( If all the macarons tasted like the passion fruit one, this would have been a 5-star rating. Unfortunately, the stale ones made me sad, so can only give 3 stars.
